Hey Da Real Adogg im from the U.K. and we grew up on Dave Allen on TV in the 70’s and 80’s. I’m Glad you find him funny, a really lovely human being as well. He’s sadly missed.
Dave Allen was raised as a catholic until old enough to make up his own mind. He died in 2005 and left our planet a poorer place. May all of the gods bless his soul.
Dave Allen was absolutely brilliant. The whole thing of sitting in his chair, smoking and drinking, while telling stories, was very much 'his' thing. More Dave Allen, always welcome.
This irishman was on my TV every week when I was a child. My whole family would sit down to watch his show. He always sat down to tell his jokes. His skits were so funny too.
The Irish are hilarious. I'm a 50 year old Australian and I watched him on TV when I was young. No-one has come close to his style and class. It's a real talent to just sit on a chair, drink, smoke and make amazing jokes in such a subtle way. 😊 Thank you for reminding me about him.
Dave Allen was one of my favourite comedians. A great story teller and his visual humour was brilliant! He was an incredibly intelligent man, much missed.
Hello from England. So glad you liked Dave Allen! My Dad was Irish, and he loved Daves' comedy...we all did, never missed a show on telly. You got the humour! Most Americans don't! Watch more, and enjoy the laughs he gave us. He is greatly missed and not forgotten.

Yes! Truer Words! The Comedians!! Allen, Goodwin (we're having a good time aren't we..aaaahh!), Manning, Davidson, Reid (turn it in), Carson (it's the way I tell'em), J.Jones, Chubby ("Good evening! My wife's got two cunts and I'm one of them."), Boardman (Fokker joke), all contributed to the wicked, twisted sense of humour I've got now!! Tommy Cooper dying on stage and everyone laughing thinking it was a joke; what a way to go!!¬ :D I used to work as a funeral directors assistant, where we would wash, dress and prepare our clients for their big day. Quick sidenote - everyone's always buried in their sunday finest, so the Zombie apocalypse will be a formal event. Anyway we'd started work on a new client, a woman in her 30's, when Doc (what I called the funeral director as he reminded me of a Uni professor I had) had to step out to make a phone call; he left me to carry on. 10 minutes later he comes back, says 'how you getting on Ewan?' 'Fine, no worries, but I have got a question about her.' I said 'why has got a prawn between her legs'. He said 'What?' Why has she got a prawn between her legs? He had a look and said 'Ewan, that's not a prawn!' I said' 'Are you sure? It tastes like one!' A guy goes in to a Chinese restaurant, orders a bowl of noodles, eats half and skips out on the bill. The manager's like Bastard he no pay for noodle, picks up a cleaver and goes after the guy. He follows him down the road and in to a brothel and eventually finds the guy, who's now performing oral sex on a prostitute. Manager says 'Oi bastard, you order noodles, why you no pay for noodle?' The guy turns to him, wipes his face and says 'I didn't pay for the noodles, because I found a hair in them'. The manager's like 'What, you no pay for noodle cause you found hair in them and now you're eating hairy, fuckin' pussy!?!?' and the guy replies 'yeah, and if I find a noodle in there, she's not getting paid either!?! What's the difference between hookers and onions?' I don't cry when I cut up[ hookers!!
Such a different world. In those days in the Southern US, my grandfathers would have shot their TV sets if they'd seen someone saying things like this on TV. 😂

I'm 64 and still think Dave Allen is one of the funniest comedians who ever lived, although an atheist he respected everyone beliefs and always ended his shows with the words, "Goodnight, and may your god go with you."
Agreed... I'm 68... and have always loved Dave Allen. I remember once, in an interview, he explained what he meant by 'may your god go with you'... It was, he said, "...because we certainly don't want you to leave him behind, here! So make sure you take him with you when you go!"
You can't go wrong with some Dave Allen he was one of our best Irish comedians, sadly no longer with us, like many Irish people great at telling a story, many of which come from his own life and background
My all time favorite comedian - no one else even comes close. Back in the 1970s used to watch his show " Dave Allen at Large" - you just laugh your ass off. The GOAT of comedians.
Congratulations on discovering the late great Dave Allen - I think you've discovered why most of us oldies don't rate modern comedy. There's a treasure trove of Dave Allen material for you to discover. Personally, I think the funeral sketch is his best ever, I've seen it dozens of times and it still makes me cry laughing.
When he's Harold at the Battle of Hastings. "So, the Normans are on that hill over there, and we're in this place. What is this place?" Giant arrow lands in his eye with the words 'You are here' printed on it! Loved that man. The bomb disposal experts who kept blowing themselves up, the monks with their halos that they occasionally lost (when a beautiful woman walked past) or used as weapons. All round brilliant!
Yes , but I think a few of Dave's jokes " went through to the keeper " so to speak , with this black guy !! He didn't smile or laugh in some , and I don't think he quite understood the jokes , or it might've been Dave's accent too !! But I was laughing my arse off , because as an Aussie it brought back fond family memories of watching Dave Allen , every week !! 😂😂👏👏🇦🇺❤️
@@juliecook6057 I definitely think he didn't get the priest doing the ironing and flicking water on it - he's probably never done any ironing or if he did, used a modern steam iron. I'm SO glad I was born and grew up when I did, such brilliant comedy, music and tv - and no 'political correctness'

Loved Dave Allen when I was growing up. You can't tell from this clip, but he had the tip of an index finger missing and instead of explaining how he really lost it he told an endless series of funny stories about it instead (a favourite one being that it dissolved in his drink during a performance).
My brother met him in London once, early early 70s, and he said he had gotten a new part in a film with a character with a digit missing. Always the erudite well spoken clown.
I was lucky enough to see him live in Glasgow. I honestly thought I was going to die. I couldn't breathe because I was laughing so much from start to finish. Still love watching his stuff today.
The irish are fantastic at telling stories, my dad passed away 2020 on christmas day and i'm sure he still had a thousand more stories to tell, he was a character as he would say about people he'd met in his life time 🙂❤
Dave Allen was hilarious. I was in love with him when I was a kid. Back then it was normal to see people smoking and drinking on television. My sisters and I used to watch the Dave Allen Show on Saturday nights, or whatever evening it was on. Even as little girls we thought he was funny.
The nuns at my convent school absolutely loved Dave Allen. He was loved by all and although irreverent he was spot on with all his jokes. Miss this type of humour.
Dave Allen was an Irish storytelling comedian! He kept his working class Dublin roots, his style was Irish blarney! I believe he was recommended to the BBC by Dorothy Squires who recognised his raw talent! He would land a legendary series called Dave Allen at Large with an iconic theme tune! Though raised a Catholic he would quickly turn against the church and would forever send up the Pope, which got him into trouble! He famously ended his program after the final sketch with the words - goodnight and may your God go with you! He easily takes his place among Britain's greatest ever talents!
It seems to me that the Irish are the real, natural blessed comedian ever lived in this world,I love him and the other comedian of Irish, I am Indonesian from eastern part of Indonesia which is called Flores island, famous with the Komodo Dragon

He used to do quire a lot of jokes on religion, because of his Irish upbringing, but not exclusively so. He also did a nice turn in horror stories with a humerus twist at the end, modern life, travel and the like. There is a piece called Telling the time which is quite good. In the 60s in black and white, he'd have a cigarette with his drink as he spun his stories, but he dropped that in the 70s. He was a great entertainer.
This brought back memories, Dave Allen was the funniest comedian on television and he is very very sadly missed. No one has, or can, replace him and he could tell jokes that from anyone else would be considered inappropriate or simply just not funny. RIP, you are sadly missed.
❤️❤️❤️ Dave Allen, back then, we had to go week to week for these shows and this was a firm favourite for dragging the Catholic families together around the box (tv) on a Friday night. usually followed by a game of cards .👍
Dave Allen was a master of dark/religious comedy. My favourite sketch he's ever done was the funeral of the man who was run over by a steamroller. The coffin was totally flat and about 30 feet long LOL!
Mine was either the lowering the coffin into a grave then sounds of a party,or the one where they keep lowering the coffin then smoke and flames shoot up out of the grave.
My mam used to call Dave The Irish Anti Depressant, 30 mins guaranteed laughter every week, for all the family. Followed over from your Elvis reaction videos @ Da Real Adogg to relive some childhood memories/early teens laughing with Ma and Da, you have yourself a new subscriber.👍
Yes I grew up listening to his shows in the 60s . Really anti establishment and loved joking about all religions. He even somehow arranged to be able to drink real whiskey during his show. In those days I don't think there was ever alcohol in TV shows in the UK. A great comedian whose sketches were always over the top too. Great that in this day and age you seem to be enjoying some of his humour too across the pond.🙏
I was happy to see this one, and it didn't disappoint. Dave Allen has been a fav since forever, and watching your reaction was a blessing. When you are really laughing, your smile could light a darkened room; never lose that. It's always a blessing when I swing by your channel. Keep doing what you do!
Thank you, great memories as I watched his series as a kid. He was well loved. At the end of his shows he would always finish with, "and may your God go with you".
You may call Dave Allen as one of a kind Comedian, but not a Stand up Comedian cos he does his thing most of the time sitting... could be a Sitting Down Comedian. 😂😁😅 With an added attraction of him doing a lot of hilarious skit on his show. One of my favorite too 😄
i grew up watching dave in the 70s and 80s when his tv show was a regular on British tv, no matter what subject he tackled or poked fun at he always did it with style and without derision, almost 50yrs later and his comedy is still brilliant and relevant and hardly a swear word used, he may have been Southern Irish but we Brits considered him a national treasure
Dave Allen was my favourite comedian. His skits are hilarious in church including his ones of the pope, aside from his incredibly funny stories. He also had a great show travelling around the British Isles and also USA meeting eccentric people. He loved meeting people and he was incredibly kind and hospitable with a house full of children and friends. A great friend and loved everyone without prejudice taking each as they came. A wonderful man and very much missed. ❤️🇬🇧
Elated and touched that you found this GEM of A MAN, AND APPRECIATE HIS TALENT. In his later years , with greying hair, he perfectly describes the aging process in the most comical and true-to -life way. He's brought cheer to millions in his time. He had a knack for story -telling and spinning a yarn that goes back to ancient Irish tradition. R.I.P. Dave.
This is the humour I grew up on in the 70's. He would sit there with a glass of whiskey (later it became water when he had heart issues I think) and a cigarette and your sides would ache from laughing. No topic was off limits and some of the skits he did with his crew are pure comedy gold. You see the same faces over and over, such talent! This is British humour, often understated, wry, laconic, and never mean. One of my favourite jokes of his is about why there is a high fence around cemeteries? Is it to keep people out, or to keep the undead in?
I am so glad you younger generations are finding this stuff because it is so classic. actual humour doesn't need shock and awe, no foul language just a different take on life. absolutely genious.
Dave Allen had a hit TV series in the 70's, Dave Allen At Large, from which some of these clips are probably taken. It was must-see viewing, Dave would sit on the chair telling jokes intercut with pre-recorded sketches.
I looooved Dave when i was a kid sitting there with his glass of whiskey telling his jokes and showing his funny videos! He loved to do roman and robin hood videos and the catholic church really was a target he loved to shoot at :) may this genious rest where ever he is ;)
I watched Allen back in the 80ś. my fav...there was a skit with someone trying to pull a sword from a stone and he helps him by showing him it's actually a beer tap, and pours him a beer. hilarious. the two Ronny's were also great comedy.
I too use to watch Allen as a Young adult(14-19) SOOO soooo awesome you uploaded some of Allen's work. This man deserves to be remembered. RESPECT👍to you and Dave Allen.
That was hilarious. My favorites... Gabriel Iglesias. Michael McIntyre. Jeff Allen. Josh Blue. They all use their own lives and experiences in the jokes. I've seen Gabriel live here in Memphis. Oh my God. No one could stop laughing. The show ran over 1½ hours. They've been doing comedy for a very very long time.

When I was a kid we loved watching Dave and still do. He was a legend in Ireland and the UK in the 70' and 80's. Sadly missed.
he passed years ago but still making people laugh
So happy you found Dave Allen, it’s nice to see the younger generation enjoying his brilliant performances.
I love this man’s humor❤❤❤ RIP Dave
When comedy was allowed. He was one of the funniest men around.
I was happy to see this one, and it didn't disappoint. Dave Allen has been a fav since forever, and watching your reaction was a blessing. When you are really laughing, your smile could light a darkened room; never lose that. It's always a blessing when I swing by your channel. Keep doing what you do!
He is hilarious!! Loved listening to him. Such a loss to entertainment. RIP. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you, great memories as I watched his series as a kid. He was well loved. At the end of his shows he would always finish with, "and may your God go with you".
Dave Allen was hilarious 😂 the funeral skit was the funniest and the last ioke. Thanks
You may call Dave Allen as one of a kind Comedian, but not a Stand up Comedian cos he does his thing most of the time sitting... could be a Sitting Down Comedian. 😂😁😅 With an added attraction of him doing a lot of hilarious skit on his show. One of my favorite too 😄
The man was a legend right up there with the best
i grew up watching dave in the 70s and 80s when his tv show was a regular on British tv, no matter what subject he tackled or poked fun at he always did it with style and without derision, almost 50yrs later and his comedy is still brilliant and relevant and hardly a swear word used, he may have been Southern Irish but we Brits considered him a national treasure
Dave Allen was one of my all time fav comedians ... RIP Dave
Irish humour ...😊
I watched Dave Allen when i was growing up, he's still as funny today as he was then.
Cheers for making this video.
I loved Dave Allen use to watch him. So funny. Never be forgotten..
I am so glad you younger generations are finding this stuff because it is so classic. actual humour doesn't need shock and awe, no foul language just a different take on life. absolutely genious.
He was amazing, never missed his program. Very irrevent. Unfortunately he died quite a few years ago. Its wonderful to see him again.
Dave Allen had a hit TV series in the 70's, Dave Allen At Large, from which some of these clips are probably taken. It was must-see viewing, Dave would sit on the chair telling jokes intercut with pre-recorded sketches.
Grew up in Ireland watching him on Saturday night, he was one of the best! Always loved when he’d finish with “may your God go with you”.
I cried when Dave passed! He was truly funny!! He actually gave me an asthma attack from laughing so hard!!!
As kid, my family & I would watch this great man on a Saturday night on TV.
He was one of the funniest people in the world. Also a wonderful husband and father. We lost a good man there ❤
Dave Allen is truly a comedy legend. Loved his stuff from way back. I'm glad you found his work.
Watched Dave Allen At Large on Tv as a kid/teen. One of the funniest comedians of the 70s/80s 😂
Ended every show with and May your God Go with You.
His learning to tell the time story is amazing.
I looooved Dave when i was a kid sitting there with his glass of whiskey telling his jokes and showing his funny videos! He loved to do roman and robin hood videos and the catholic church really was a target he loved to shoot at :) may this genious rest where ever he is ;)
MR ALLEN IS A LEGEND IN IRELAND AND THE UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm British and 54
Used to watch Dave when I was young😊
I watched Allen back in the 80ś. my fav...there was a skit with someone trying to pull a sword from a stone and he helps him by showing him it's actually a beer tap, and pours him a beer. hilarious. the two Ronny's were also great comedy.
I too use to watch Allen as a Young adult(14-19) SOOO soooo awesome you uploaded some of Allen's work. This man deserves to be remembered. RESPECT👍to you and Dave Allen.
Uk boy here , I grew up on dave Allen , loved him & miss him , glad you enjoyed him too he's a treasure for sure
Great reaction to a fantastic comedian who we watched every week back in the seventies.
His twists of logic were pure genius.
Comedy genius. I used to watch him when I was younger. Funny then, funny as hell now 😂❤

Loved Dave Allen and still do. Thanks for the great memories.🤗
He was a brilliant comedian, always one of my favourites …. I met him once and he was equally funny and charming in real life 🙂
I really loved Dave Allen too!! His comments are just HILARIOUS!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was hilarious.
My favorites...
Gabriel Iglesias.
Michael McIntyre.
Jeff Allen.
Josh Blue.
They all use their own lives and experiences in the jokes. I've seen Gabriel live here in Memphis. Oh my God. No one could stop laughing. The show ran over 1½ hours. They've been doing comedy for a very very long time.
He had a program called "Dave Allen at Large" and it was shown on our PBS station back in the 80's. I loved it !!
One of my favourites growing up. So funny and clever. RIP Dave Allen
He did some hilarious funeral sketches..
Simpliciticty at its funniest😂 I'm older but was probably too young to understand or 'get' the jokes. Thanks Àdogg..appreciate his humor now.
Absolutely fantastic
As a child we watched Dave regularly. Brilliant and I was fascinated by his wee finger
