      yep, i find all three of those to be great and definitely up there on my list, spinda especially
      another less popular pick which is among my favorites would be cacturne, which i feel is heavily underappreciated and needs more love, or the pumpkaboo line, which i feel always gets overshadowed by the other version exclusive ghost grass line from x and y, the trevenant line
      another one close to my heart is duosion which was the first pokemon i ever saw in the games excluding zekrom, so it's also pretty high (reuniclus is awesome too)

    One of my favorites that I think gets the ugly duckling treatment is probably Barbaracle. There's just something really interesting about it being this living colony that functions in a way to make such a body work, and its a pretty neat pokemon to use in game as well, what with tools like Shell Smash, Razor Shell, and pretty solid coverage.
    Also whenever I pick one up, I absolutely always name it Up-Top. It's just too perfect.

    Since you guys brought up Raichu, I just wanted to share a story when I last played Pokemon Red on an emulator: one of the many glitches in the first two games the player can exploit is evolving a Pokemon that requires a stone, by leveling up a different Pokemon. I remember I was in the Team Rocket hideout, fighting with a Pikachu that went down, so I threw out a Growlithe that leveled up after the battle. What I didn't expect was Pikachu to then start evolving, which I permitted not knowing this was indeed a bug in the game. I was too perplexed why this was happening. I was immediately grateful for the extra stat buffs, but then realized I missed out on Pikachu finishing up it's level up moves. The Thunder Punch TM came in the clutch though.

    I hear so many poeple say pikachu is better at sweeping than raichu
    But this is only true if
    A - the entire enemy team is paralyzed, slowed by sticky web, or pikachu has its speed boosted
    And
    B - the entire enemy team doesn't have a single priority move
    Raichus higher bulk and speed matters a whole lot when going for a sweep. Furthermore, if pikachu loses its light ball (knock off, thief, trick), it's damage becomes immediately pitiful. Raichu will never have its damage drop unless you're running choice specs - but in that case, it's less for a sweep and more for wall breaking. Raichu not having to run light ball allows it to be more consistent and splashable on teams, able to fit into more roles.

    • @kybalerton2608
      @kybalerton2608 8 месяцев назад +11

      I was thinking the same thing. Raichu overall has much better natural stats and a free item slot. That and Pikachu refused to evolve it wasn't Ash that didn't let it

    • @christiancinnabars1402
      @christiancinnabars1402 8 месяцев назад +3

      I wish Raichu could also use Light Ball for a 1.5x boost.
      The flaw with Light Ball is that, as mentioned, Pikachu is kind of bad outside of very niche situations, where its insane damage can shine without it getting smacked in return. Raichu's main issue, conversely, is that it has good speed and not absolute paper thin survivability, but its damage is extremely low even compared to its fellow Gen 1 Electric types (Jolteon just casually having higher stats in every category besides Attack, being a lot faster and naturally doing ~14% more damage with special attacks at max investment).
      If Light Ball could be used on Raichu, then it would be a win for both of them. Light Ball could be utilized outside of pretty much a gimmick, and Raichu wouldn't be dogwater in competitive. Or they could at least boost Pikachu's base Speed to 120, and Raichu's Speed to 130. Pikachu's whole thing is its Speed, yet it loses to Jynx and freaking _Lumineon_ in a race.

    Raichu is one of my favourite Pokemon, probably tied with Ampharos as my favourite Electric type. I hate that Pikachu overshadows it. There are some "fans" that don't even know Raichu exists and it breaks my heart.
    I think part of the problem for why some Pokemon are underappreciated, is because of the games' format. Stats mean a lot in the games to have a strong team. Easy access to them is also important. Gorebyss, for example, will have never been obtainable for me, because I didn't have friends to trade with. Even if I did, it didn't seem worth the effort.

    They're from gen 9 so there may be some "New mons bad, old mons good" bias, but I think the future Paradoxes are very underappreciated. They've been upgraded/modified from the originals in a lot of different ways, but many of these are still very obscure due to only being visible if you use a handful of specific moves, and the only ones that are common knowledge right now are Iron Bundle's spring-loaded head and the obvious Iron Valiant's lightsaber. You'd think their dex entries would mention these changes like they do for other mons (e.g. Clodsire's spikes), but instead you get random blurbs about athletes on life support and Hydreigon intercoursing with a robot.
    They're a group of Pokemon with their fair share of merits, that are cursed by having said merits being unreasonably hard to access _in their own debut games._

    • @jasond.b-w
      @jasond.b-w 8 месяцев назад +2

      Honestly, I find the past paradoxes cooler, but the future ones are _creepier,_ and there’s equal value in both. Robots and living machines are a personal TERROR of mine. For some people, it’s dolls or puppets, but for me it’s giant hunks of sentient but unfeeling metal.
      It’s kinda a shame that *all* of the future ones got the lazy ‘future = robot!’ treatment, but the first few I saw were reeeeally effective at freaking me out, and I appreciate them for it. 🤖

    • @bluekirby_64
      @bluekirby_64 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Asm0d3u5 In general, the "main" changes are on the big neon parts, and there are "secondary" changes on non-neon ones.
      - Iron Treads' trunk is now an actual wheel which rolls independently, and the legs can withdraw into the body to make a sphere, so the Pokemon is like a monowheel now.
      - Aside from the head, Iron Bundle has also had its bag turned into a snow cannon, which doubles as means of propulsion, and its feet are skis to take advantage of that (shown in a couple of its TCG arts and the run animation).
      - Iron Hands' palms are defibrillators in reference to Hariyama's old signature move Smelling Salts (called Resuscitation in JP) as seen when using Thunderbolt, plus the hands themselves have a much longer range for physical attacks.
      - Iron Jugulis' side heads are also detached, but instead of being just range extension they act like homing drones, which can be sent at the enemy and retrieved later as seen during Dragon Tail. There's a possibility that they have their own brains unlike with Hydreigon, but that's not confirmed.
      - Iron Moth's wings aren't needed for flight, so they're now a sun-related device (likely solar panels but could also be lamps or something else) as they're combined into a sun shape to fire certain attacks such as the Beam moves and Bug Buzz. Also, its legs are missiles supplied from inside its body, as shown in its "rare" Synchro Mode attack animation and the TCG art.
      - Lightsaber aside, Iron Valiant's chest spike is now a gun that extends to shoot attacks like Shadow Ball or Psybeam (Gardevoir's side of the mon). Plus, its upper body can rotate independently from the lower one letting it perform walking spin attacks, another one from the "rare" Synchro attack animation.
      - The blades of the Iron Swords of Justice have been adapted to each member's role: Virizion is the fast one, so Iron Leaves gets 3 slim longswords; Terrakion is the strong one so Iron Boulder gets one giant sword/axe; Cobalion is the middle ground so Iron Crown gets 2 medium-sized horns, which are also the only ones with a ranged attack since it's the leader. Speculation-wise, the latter two spin their heads while fainting, which could be used together with said blades to make a drill (for Boulder) or a 360° projectile turret (for Crown), but that's unconfirmed.
      Yes, I've spent too much time looking into them.

    One of my favorite under appreciated Pokémon is Sigilyph. It’s a Psychic Flying type with a base stat total of 490, it’s one of the few Pokémon in gen 5 with good speed, and it has Magic Guard, so you can do some crazy stuff like bringing it out while stealth rocks are around, give it a life orb with no downsides, put it on a sandstorm team without worrying about the damage, and give it a fire orb so you have immunity to other statuses, because you won’t take burn damage, and you don’t need that attack stat anyway. It’s also one of the few gen 5 Pokémon (the region full of Pokémon with absurd level requirements for evolution) that doesn’t evolve, so you don’t need to worry about it slugging through most of the game.

Design-wise it's better in every way compared to pikachu (The aololan form just looks dumb to me, he looks like he's made of rubber), It's not exactly a strong pokemon but it's good enough to have on your team while Pikachu needs a special item to make him viable. I've loved Raichu ever since I was little and never understood why everyone sleeps on it. I think that the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games have really helped with my, and undoubtedly other people's, impressions of under-appreciated Pokémon.
    Beeheeyem are actually fairly important characters in the story of Super Mystery Dungeon, and the series has given me better appreciation of Pokémon like bidoof, chatot, sunflora, dunsparce, torkoal, and xatu by giving them a bit of extra character.

    It’s crazy to me that most Pokemon on this video are probably less popular than Trubbish, the trash bag Pokemon people used to hate only for people now defending it by calling it “underrated”.
    If Trubbish is “underrated” and you are a Pokémon that’s less popular than that, then you truly are overlooked by most people.

    I've always liked Gorebyss and Huntail ever since I saw them in Emerald as a kid. Them being exclusively trade evolutions helped add some mystic qualities to them, since I never had a link cable, and them being evolutions to Clamperl also added to their charm since me and my siblings all loved finding Clamperls in the underwater areas.
    Nowadays, I wish that they had ways to stand out more from the wave of mono-Water mons that have been piling up in Pokemon. Shell Smash was a good start, but they still ended up ultimately outclassed by Cloyster and Blastoise, who have more Speed, better overall defenses, and in Cloyster's case an ability and moveset combo that really let it be a team sweeping menace.
    With Clamperl not only evolving with its exclusive items, but also getting actual stat boosts from holding them - unlike a lot of other items specific to single evolution lines (Electrizer, Magmarizer, Protecter, etc) - one idea I had was to let those items boost the evolutions as well, just to a lesser extent. Deep Sea Scale could boost Gorebyss's Sp. Atk by 1.5x, while Deep Sea Tooth could boost Huntail's Attack by 1.5x (I never understood why Deep Sea Tooth, the item that evolves Clamperl into its physical attacking counterpart, boosts its _Sp. Atk_ while Deep Sea Scale boosts _Sp. Def,_ which is the exact same between both evolutions, but it's whatever). That way, Gorebyss at max Sp. Atk investment could have Sp. Atk equal to ~195 base Sp. Atk, and Huntail at max Attack investment could have Attack equal to ~180 base Attack. This would allow them to put serious hurt in with both Swift Swim under rain and especially after a Shell Smash, but would be balanced by them still being naturally slow and being very susceptible to moves like Knock Off and Trick.

    Wishiwashi is SO cool. A sardine Pokemon that takes their schooling instinct and makes it really awesome, the absolute weakest Pokemon ever transforming into a hivemind war submarine with Legendary-tier stats. He holds a special place in my heart for tanking Ultra Necrozma at 1 HP with Affection twice in a row and taking him down in Solo Form.

    A lot of pokémon are underrated, but my favorites are:
    Wigglytuff: it's adorable and way more charismatic than Jigglypuff, it learns a lot of moves (like, a lot, seriously), and it's special attack and ability (competitive) can make it dangerous in unexpected situations if it is used correctly.
    Seaking: it's attack is ok, and has decent hp and special defense, it's ability also makes it good if the enemy thinks electric moves would destroy Seaking.
    Jynx: I never saw it as ugly, to me, it's hilarious and stylish, it's stats are also good and lovely kiss is also a very good move. It's abilities aren't bad either.
    Illumise: to me, it's better than Volbeat (I don't like Volbeat's design that much, I think it could have been better), it's a good support pokemon even when it is a bug type.

    For pyukumyuku it doesnt learn a single attaking move besides counter which is such as funny
    And I love shiinotic for how incredibly creepy it is. That is my favourite aspect about a lot of fairy types. The open parallels to real world fey stories really influences it to make the fairy type tied in first with ice as my favourite.
