- Las Vegas is under water! Severe thunderstorms moved through Las Vegas Thursday night causing major flooding in several areas.
According to the city of Las Vegas, a flash flood warning and severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the Las Vegas Valley early Friday morning.
At the Linq Hotel, water could be seen rushing through a hotel parking lot on the Las Vegas strip.
The famous Caesars Palace Casino also experienced some flooding as water seeped through the ceiling.

Flood is on the wrong side of the dam.
It eventually makes its way to Lake Mead.
Goes down into the Las Vegas wash that runs out behind the silver bowl and empty’s int lake Meade 👍 hiked that trail for 2 days to see it in action.
@@toddbaumgartner8946 what is the trail called?
@@timothykozlowski2945 big clean up needed tho!
@@rice5155 we just called it the wash ? This was back in like 1990 when I first moved there to go to paramedic school and a fellow medic who lived there his whole life took me out on the trail ? We drove out Sahara blvd out past Nellis ave too the end and started from there and hiked out over that range ? He also took me out to bridge mountain out at red rock for a overnight hike and stayed in the bowl ? There’s probably houses out there now lol not many people lived there when I moved there . I left Vegas few years ago
I was driving home from Kingman AZ last night and the lightning storm over the desert and mountains was AMAZING, even before we hit the rain closer to Boulder City and Vegas
Omg I was just telling my daughter about the sky last night. It was so beautiful. It looked like the entire sky was lightning fireworks behind the clouds. It was so amazing, that I was so mesmerize that I couldn’t stop looking at it to record it.
Arizona has some of the most beautiful light shows courtesy of Mother Nature ❤
And to think I literally slept through this storm
What flows in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas.
Prayers for all the homeless folks in those tunnels under Vegas 😟
That was my first thought, too!
On a positive note, everywhere in Vegas is a pool side seat for no extra charge!👍
I was just there last week. It wasn’t nothing like this. Wow 😯 I’m praying 🙏🏾 for Vegas
clean that nasty city up with rain.
@@hillbillyintheasia6122 😳😳
Vegas needs all the water it can get, because lake mead is going dry. Actually the waters Godsent 💯
I was there last week and it was 117°
Happens once or twice a year
As a Californian I am provoked to jealousy, but stay safe Vegas 🙏🏻
I'm a Californian, too, but I don't think we should be jealous because water damages are probably going to be super costly for some buildings. When I saw a video of rainwater leaking through a roof top of a building, I just felt so bad.
I sympathize.
@@TRINI333 exactly
LAKE MEADE NEEDED WATER.
What about that underground homeless city ? Hope they okay
Is this also happening in neighborhoods?
I’m starting to understand this a little more. These extreme dry conditions, mixed with extreme down pours are a recipe for floods. Once the ground becomes so dry it takes longer for it to absorb the water. The ground isn’t absorbing it quick enough creating these floods we are seeing pop up around currently!
This happens every now and then. Its the desert. Happens in Utah as well
It bounces right off of the very hard and dry dirt.
no.
Yep. The ground in that area just doesn't absorb water well.
Fake news
Divert it into lake mead asap
Yes some goes down the Las Vegas Wash into Lake Mead 💧
Well Vegas needed water, I guess they got it!....
In the 13 yrs. I worked at the Imperial Palace I've seen it a whole lot worse than that.
Helpful post, puts 'climate terror' in perspective. 🌵lovin it
When a city needs a good cleaning, the rains come down.
I was born and raised in Vegas that's nothing compared to earlier years and I mean nothing don't be baby's deal with it
Base💣❣
Where is all this going? Is there a place to collect it for the 10 dry month?
It will go to the lake
The linq was designed for that, there's a flood tunnel that runs under the strip next to the valet stand
👍🏻👍🏻 that city was built for flash floods.
It's a flood channel.
Mole people stopped it up probably
Thanks I thought it was an Amazon River show ( sarcasm)
beautiful pic quality. what did you use?
It will dry up in a few hours and look as if nothing happened by morning. This happens every year here.
That's good hope so for Las Vegas I'm not in the state never been but it'd really help keep the mold away if what you said happens 👆🏽.
What! the! This cannot be! Las Vegas is my favourite city!
Under fashion show was built on top of a river bed that naturally flows towards the lake. The large poles are there to hold it up WHEN it floods the valley.
We watched the streets flood from our kitchen window! I was like wow! Haven't seen rain like this since Detroit storm of 2014 and 2021
If we could only reverse this back to lake Mead. Also remember the video about the people that lives in the tunnels I hope they're okay
What hotel is that
When was this happening?
The city of Las Vegas is completely paved over. When there is a downpour it collects on all the paved surfaces. Eventually making it's way to the storm drains. There is a water purification facility that cleans the waste water from all of the hotels, homes, businesses and storm drains. After the water is treated it is sent to Lake Mead by way of the Las Vegas Wash.
Thousands of people live in the tunnels and storm drains under Vegas too. I wonder what happened to them
So what is the power source for the "water purification" facility? And what is the source of the electricity which runs the pumps, for "sending water to Lake Mead?"
With all coal-fired power plants shut down, where is the electricity for this massive, multi-stage recycling project generated? Answer: Las Vegas/Clark County Water Authorities have established transmission lines to the turbines of Lake Mead, to compensate for those "shut down coal-fired power plants".
Or were you thinking that your recycling project, (for storm water polluted with road oil, solvents, and chemicals,) was just happening by magic, with no use of electricity? To compensate for the loss of electric power from your coal fired plants, your authorities have increased annual use of Hoover Dam electricity by (at least) 30%. This means, amped up use of the turbines, and more water drained out of Lake Mead, to go flowing out to the other side of the dam, and on down the river. Very nice of you to use electricity generated by Hoover Dam, for a process which sends "filtered" water from city streets and highways, back to Lake Mead. And while your authorities brag about "recycled storm drain water" they continue to blame the serious decrease of Lake Mead levels on "drought".
Where is your drought now? If your state is in a drought, how is all of that water washing into your storm drains right now?
A drought is a time of low rainfall, not zero rainfall. Roughly 300-500 years ago the desert Southwest experienced a similar drought. It's cyclical.
You mean, after its treated, the water is sent back to the hotel where it originated!🤢🤮
@@buddchan Many probly drowned. Happens every year. type "mole people of vegas" it's here on Y.T.
Ill be at the D downtown im leving LA aug 7th hopefully its still hot and not all raining and wet LA is about 80-86 lately dont want to leave sunshine for rain
Good I hope all the casinos get taken out
Hopefully all this rain will help Lake Mead.
It will go through the Las Vegas Wash to Lake Mead.
It will need a few months of rain like that to help mead
@@jamesburrowes3552 -- True, but something is better than nothing. Let's all hope for a good winter......
It will only be a drop in the bucket. This drought has been going on for 20 years. I was in Vegas s few years ago and it flooded while I was there.

Is this a flood from mother nature? Ordid a main water line bust?
Does anyone know which hotels got damaged? What about Bally’s hotel?
No damage they are all fine. This happens all the time.

Need that water in Lake Mead. Does Vegas stormwater drain into Mead?
Apparently by something called the Las Vegas wash.
Well? I’m 55 an never heard of Las Vagas Flooding?
The ground under Vagas is riddled with dry aquifers so the chance of subsidence is more common than flooding????
Suprised!!!
Thoughts go out to all affected an hope that you guys only suffered minor injuries an nothin more serious.

I was in Las Vegas on the strip once and wasn't impressed. I was more impressed with Red Rock Canyon that was close by. The hotel rooms in the casinos aren't fit for a dog. If you like being bitten by bed bugs Vegas had plenty.
I went to Red canyon when I was out there. Beautiful. Zion canyon was the best but now everyone knows about it because of Instagram. To much traffic for outdoor adventures.
Not sure why Las Vegas residents complaining?... extra water to fill those dry reservoirs
Just there last week and it was a scorcher, but am glad it didn't happen when we were there
That was a great storm last night here in Las Vegas.
Um wondering why but obviously maybe cause the casino robbed you instead of paying you? 🤔
The link hotel is well known for flooding, iam just surprised a lot out the new hotel circa downtown flooding tho🤭🤔
Bring some to Northern California Please!!!
Vegas should be protected
Omg folding in Las Vegas this is crazy😳
I was out there in 2 weeks ago before I left cuz I kind of knew but why it's raining prayers to Vegas
Ya...Imperial used to flood all the time.
I kept seeing the flooding on here. I all of a sudden remembered the tunnel people. Some might say flush them out but then you have never truly been homeless. I do have lots of friends there though. And I use to call Vegas home for years before I finally moved there I spent a lot of time there. I have seen some flooding around there but seems since all the freeway and road changes ect.. it Floods worse.
clean that nasty city up with rain.
Hopefully the homeless got out of those tunnels before this storm hit.
@@hillbillyintheasia6122 The problem is that all of the garbage clogs the flood channels.
Glad to see I'm not the only one thinking of those people. May God protect them.
I’m thinking about them 2… I haven’t seen any reports on them at all. Praying they are ok.
The end has started and it's too late to save ourselves. Even with 40c (104f) in most of the EU and 48c is most of the USA with the index being 53c, the hottest temperatures on recorded history in a lot of places but we still have people that deny it.
I support global warming
Your End started the moment you were born. Apoptosis is universal.
This is something I definitely didn't think would happen in Vegas 😥
Well it did rain hard last night...I was stuck in new york new york on strip for a while..smh
:-( oh dear, keep safe everyone . I have been there last June. My friend said they have not seen rain since January. Now it came :-(
Janitorial and Maintenance and Housekeeping staff will be very busy!
Here's hoping they get paid overtime, I like your attitude😊.
This is only shocking to a Visitor or Vegas resident newb. This is pretty standard flash flood stuff for Vegas. The Linq is right there on a flood channel it always flows through there. One year floods washed away the sides of the channels on the east side and washed away a trailer park.
@@chrisfalkenberg2167 It had been a simple realization that had changed Debra's life perspective. It was really so simple that she was embarrassed that she had lived the previous five years with the way she measured her worth. Now that she saw what she had been doing, she could see how sad it was. That made her all the more relieved she had made the change. The number of hearts her Instagram posts received wasn't any longer the indication of her own self-worth.
Sometimes it just doesn't make sense. The man walking down the street in a banana suit. The llama standing in the middle of the road. The fairies dancing in front of the car window. The fact that all of this was actually happening and wasn't a dream.
They told her that this was her once chance to show the world what she was made of. She believed them at the time. It was the big stage and she knew the world would be there to see. The only one who had disagreed with this sentiment was her brother. He had told her that you don't show the world what you're made of when they are all watching, you show that in your actions when nobody was looking. It was looking more and more like her brother was correct.
Betty decided to write a short story and she was sure it was going to be amazing. She had already written it in her head and each time she thought about it she grinned from ear to ear knowing how wonderful it would be. She could imagine the accolades coming in and the praise she would receive for creating such a wonderful piece. She was therefore extremely frustrated when she actually sat down to write the short story and the story that was so beautiful inside her head refused to come out that way on paper.
The shoes had been there for as long as anyone could remember. In fact, it was difficult for anyone to come up with a date they had first appeared. It had seemed they'd always been there and yet they seemed so out of place. Why nobody had removed them was a question that had been asked time and again, but while they all thought it, nobody had ever found the energy to actually do it. So, the shoes remained on the steps, out of place in one sense, but perfectly normal in another.
Here's the thing. She doesn't have anything to prove, but she is going to anyway. That's just her character. She knows she doesn't have to, but she still will just to show you that she can. Doubt her more and she'll prove she can again. We all already know this and you will too.
A two-inch layer of freshly fallen snow covered the yard. Stacey peeked outside. To most, it would have been a beautiful sight worthy of taking a photo to put on Instagram. For Stacey, it meant something different. The first snow of the year brought back the witches as the fairies in the yard had to seek shelter to avoid the cold.
He read about a hike called the incline in the guidebook. It said it was a strenuous hike and to bring plenty of water. “A beautiful hike to the clouds” described one review. “Not for the faint-hearted,” said another. “Not too bad of a workout”, bragged a third review. I thought I’d hike it when I fly in from Maryland on my day off from the senior citizen's wellness conference. I hiked 2 miles a day around the neighborhood so I could handle a 1.1-mile hike. What a foolish mistake that was for a 70-year-old low-lander.
One can cook on and with an open fire. These are some of the ways to cook with fire outside. Cooking meat using a spit is a great way to evenly cook meat. In order to keep meat from burning, it's best to slowly rotate it. Hot stones can be used to toast bread. Coals are hot and can bring things to a boil quickly. If one is very adventurous, one can make a hole in the ground, fill it with coals and place foil-covered meat, veggies, and potatoes into the coals, and cover all of it with dirt. In a short period of time, the food will be baked. Campfire cooking can be done in many ways.
They needed to find a place to eat. The kids were beginning to get grumpy in the back seat and if they didn't find them food soon, it was just a matter of time before they were faced with a complete meltdown. Even knowing this, the solution wasn't easy. Everyone in the car had a different opinion on where the best place to eat would be with nobody agreeing with the suggestions of the others. It seemed to be an impossible no-win situation where not everyone would be happy no matter where they decided to eat which in itself would lead to a meltdown. Yet a decision needed to be made and it needed to be made quickly.
Mary had to make a decision and she knew that whatever decision she made, it would upset someone. It seemed like such a silly reason for people to get upset but she knew the minute that she began to consider doing it that there was no way everyone in her life would be pleased with what she ultimately decided to do. It was simply a question of who she would rather displease most. While this had always been her parents, and especially her mom, in the past that she tried to keep from upsetting, she decided that this time the person she was going to please the most with her decision was herself.
The blinking light caught her attention. She thought about it a bit and couldn't remember ever noticing it before. That was strange since it was obvious the flashing light had been there for years. Now she wondered how she missed it for that amount of time and what other things in her small town she had failed to notice.
Do they not see the signs upon the coming of the hour.
Why don't treat the water? Then it can be used to water the crops?
what crops?
Your thinking of California. We need this water
clean that nasty city up with rain.
Nocturnal...Because it has solvents in it, from cars spraying brake materials, lubricants and engine fluids onto streets and highways. There is no treatment for solvents. Solvents from contaminated storm drain water gas out in a treatment facility, then settle back down into the water. If this type of water is distributed to homes, people bathing in it absorb solvents through their skin.
Recycled storm water is not at all suitable for plants.
What Las Vegas and Clark County water authorities do with storm water: They filter it, to remove all the plastic cups and bottles and stuff, then they pump this solvent saturated water back to Lake Mead.

This is what happens when you build on land or areas that are flat or where you all know that will flood sooner or later.

Whoa this is a lot
I think it might be all the concrete, and cutting back on plants in Urban areas. If there isn't enough plants and vegetation to suck up the rain, it'll get trapped in odd places, like the streets, building areas, and such.
That's the dumbest thing I've read in years.
@@ronniec8038 This literally is an established thing. You're an idiot
There should be a huge story on the tunnel people

Imagine all the people in the tunnels just washed out
Maybe they can reverse those pumps at Lake Vegas and put all that water back in Lake Mead I think it was 2.8 billion gallons

What happened to the hundreds of millions dollar storm rain storage facilities they built or building underground?
This is hilarious because this area has been flooding since it was called the imperial palace . Engineers did zero to alleviate the problem . Every monsoon season this occurs. Vegas native speaking from experience!
I lived in Las Vegas for a while in the 80s, this happened with any decent downpour. I remember caution signs for possible flash flooding on nearly every road with a significant dip in it.
