10 Steps to Properly Care for Your IEMs

1. Always store your in-ear monitors (IEMs) in their protective case when not in use.
2. Avoid dropping your IEMs or subjecting them to impact against hard surfaces.
3. Regularly clean the earpieces.
4. Periodically clean the IEM nozzles using appropriate tools.
5. Prevent water from entering the IEMs.
6. Use silica gel for moisture control.
7. Exercise caution when connecting and disconnecting cables, utilizing the correct tools.
8. Avoid excessive insertion and reinsertion of the cable to maintain long-term durability.
9. When storing, loosely coil the IEM cable.
10. Ensure your audio device is set to a low volume before connecting your IEMs.

For number 10, using a DAC/amp with independent digital volume control helps a lot. I use the independent volume control basically as a volume limiter and set it so that even maximum system volume won’t damage the IEMs or my ears. It also helps give your system volume control more usable volume increments.
