It's been a long time since I've listened to "In the Skies" but I'm definitely hearing that particular tone. I spent a second with a search engine trying to find out if Peter Green played Greeny on that album with no luck. I did however figure out where the "Green" in "The Green Manalishi" comes from.

Greeny was already in the hands of Gary Moore by the time in the skies came out. I believe Peter used a strat on that album. Just shows you that Peter's tone is beautiful regardless of which guitar he uses.

By all accounts In the Skies had a weird production, apparently at some times during it's production Green was in his prime but at other times he could barely pick up the guitar let alone play it.
We know that Snowy White performed the lead guitar for Slabo day, but I suspect he also recorded (or re-recorded) lead parts on other tracks as well.
This brings forward a couple of interesting possibilities. For those unfamiliar, Snowy White is an incredible Blues Guitarist, who's playing resembles PG's incredibly closely.
One possibility is that the majority of the lead work on 'In The Skies' was performed by Snowy (at least in the released version). At the time PG was still a big name so it would have been in the labels interest to market him over Snowy. This would have been performed on his iconic LP 'Goldtop' (also with out-of-phase neck pickup)- Which explains, for me, why PG is known to have used a strat on 'in the skies' but yet what we hear on the lead playing is that fantastic Greeny out-of-phase LP tone.
Another possibility, and the one I prefer to imagine happened, is Peter missed old Greeny so when he got into the studio with Snowy he decided to smash out the lead parts on Goldtop.

and most likely falls in love with her..... I'm talking the real one of course....but copies can deserve love too, right ?

Albert King’s V guitar was accidentally wired out of phase in the factory. He may not have even realized there was something off, he just liked the tone. Peter Green didn’t understand what out-of-phase meant, and claimed the guitar barely worked.

I have had some great epiphone guitars but where are all these unicorn guitars that are better than Gibson !?
I'm seriously asking because I check out the new epiphones and even bought a couple but none of them are as great as even the lowest price Gibson that I've got me hands on, that's including the vintage Gibson I've played plus the ones my dad has and none of his epiphone guitars are a great as the Gibson. Now Dean on the other hand has guitars in all price ranges that blow these epiphone guitar away ! The vintage 1980 series and the Dean select series guitar are probably better than Gibson. I have bought 3 of the new Dean guitars and they are amazing, especially the Select series OMG!

Metallica’s Kirk Hemmet bought the original greeny for little less than two million dollars! I like Hemmet but I think he and other rich people who are willing to pay that much for a guitar are crazy! Even if I was an extremely rich guitarist; I will never pay that much money for a guitar! C’mom Kirk, you could have helped so many hard working but struggling poverty stricken families with that money. Remember what it was like to be poor Kirk.
