That intro was out of this world
Wow....Just wow......🙌🏻🙏🏻
My dude has killer touch and vibrato
Jaw on floor - awesome 👏
Agree!!
Chris, your intro jams are better than 99% of albums released at the moment. Insane.
What’s Sad is that that is absolutely true
Then your taste in music must be narrow. While I agree it's excellent, there are plenty of good players and musicians out there! Just gotta search a bit more
Yes
People need to really load new releases with playing living up to the level of a guy like Chris Buck. He’s definitely some kind of yardstick for people that want the electric guitar to go back in the top 40.
@@Shred_The_Weapon Uh...Say What?!
In English, please..! 🙏
Not sure if that intro inspires me to grab my guitar or throw it in the fireplace.
Lol!
😂
That's what I said when listening to Tommy Emmanuel. But don't throw it. Play and enjoy. Your guitar is a companion throughout life.
lmao true though
Throw it
That "JAM!" solo was insane. totally made me forget why I'm here.
The one at 6 minuteish? John Mayer gonna find another u...
@@stevedimebag It's Peter Green's Need Your Love So Bad. He beat JM to it by about 37 years...
You should do a solo blues album Chris! Love listening to you playing in your unique bluesy soulful style. Excellent work mate, Cheers.
I agree... superb stuff, week after week.
Hope he does, would love a solo Chris Buck album.
Yes, I wish he'd get away from Buck and Evans. Oops I said it
Every week your intro sets the bar a little higher, but this week's intro redefines the word 'sublime'. Brilliant.
well said
As a fellow guitarist who has been playing for nearly 40 years, I have learned to appreciate the players that effortlessly do the things I just can't do. I'm very rhythmic, very timing focused, serves me well. But melody, nah not my strength. However if I can do one jam or solo that is half as moving as the stuff Chris knocks out in his sleep, I'll die a happy man.
Go play the bass
Gotta say, never been more thrilled listening to causal youtuber jams. Speechless
Agreed. It's sad to think that people may think of Chris as a RUclipsr. I genuinely think he's one of the best guitarists I've ever heard. Period.
That intro jam deserves its own video
That intro was a F******* musical masterpiece!!..Brother you nailed that in everyway possible...Honest to god?!? hands down one of the most beautifly intense pieces I've heard!
Killing it Chris... Awesome videos...
Cheers boys! Hope to see you soon ❤️
Best solo on the internet
If Chris was in a band in the late 60's or early 70's we'd all be saying...Page? Gilmour? Hendrix? Clapton? Allman? or Buck?
I'm not kidding...
I listened to Chris' intro with headphones on pretty damn loud and I was like WTF was that!? I mean he absolutely nailed it. He just owned it. Your attack is just brilliant. Your tone, perfect. Everything you can get out of a Les Paul he did in 2 minutes or so. Dude, you're a player. God bless...
Thanks for the shout out mate and cracking video as always. Great job! H :)
That intro JAM is simply glorious ! You touch me with it Chris... Wish it was 20min long ! Thanks master 🙏
Blimey Charlie. That might be the greatest CB solo ever. Absolute clas.
"Brother you got chops for days, that intro was out of this world"
Chris is what a guitarist should aspire to be. He plays with taste and isn’t technical for the sake of technical or guitar-as-a-sporting-enterprise. He simply incorporates his toolbox of chops and technique in the service of music rather than vice versa like it seems 90% of the self-proclaimed instructors out there do. He’s a clear favorite whenever he plays.
Bellissimo!
Every friday fretworks that goes by, i get more and more surprised with your playing and tone... Just amazing!!!! This first jam had alot of slash inspired licks! Awesome!
That intro. Good God.
I just can not believe how great you are, Chris. As time goes by you always find a way to amaze me. Again and again. You are one of the greats.
Chris Buck is arguably one of the best guitarists in the world right now In my opinion 🙏
I'm gonna have to agree with you on this. Every freaking note he hits just spot on at the perfect moment. His mulitpitch bends seriously fry my brain. Wow......
Thanks for your opinion!
Jokes aside
He's great!
It's rare when opinion parallels fact but here we are.
@@terrycolletti8645 what do you mean by multipitch bends?
@@Impractical_Engineer hahahaha true
Chris - following up on someone else’s comment (that your guitar playing is better than 99% of albums out there) you should release your own guitar album. In fact you could just put together some of your video jams in one place and we’d all buy them.
Make. It. Happen.
I've been playing guitar for 50 years and I absolutely love your playing.
You have such touch, I mean DAMN, thank God you picked up a guitar! Love your videos!
I absolutely live for the jams at the start of your videos, totally sublime as usual!
How you've not taken over the world yet is beyond me?
Such an awesome and individual sound and style. A true stand out on RUclips at the moment 🤘
I’ve listen to a clip of the intro you released on Instagram a million times. It’s incredibly inspiring and hauntingly beautiful and raw. So happy to hear the whole piece, and thank you for sharing your talent and thoughts.
I just love how he hits us with an insane intro and then casually starts the video
Great video, Chris and (as others have remarked) your playing on that intro is outstanding!
Awesome vid! Your insights and playing are absolutely fantastic! Your Friday Fretworks are a highlight of my week.
Now I know how all those guys who have supercars but can't drive feel like. Just when I start to feel good about my playing I listen to this.... AMAZING.
...and to think we get to listen to guitar playing this incredible every Friday, for FREE! Blows my mind.
Great video. You’re playing always blows me away. Great touch.
Your jams are simply insane! Very interesting video, thanks for sharing!
My goodness, the blues you play at the 5:15 mark, the tone, the notes, your feel, I am absolutely stunned. That was just the best thing I've heard in a long time.
Feel like Gravity
@@thanhbinhngo9300 It's Peter Green.
@@marcusl3828 Are you sure? I thought it's "I'm gonna find another you" by John Mayer.
@@xArsVivendi Peter Green beat him to it. In 1969.
@@xArsVivendi exactly right.
This is very cool! *Great video* and *great playing* , as always. Cheers
So smooth Chris, always enjoy your playing!
That last jam with the volume control was really a cool demo in the headphones. Chris, your FF videos are great.
Cracking episode. So much tone coupled with a bucket of learning. Cheers Chris and all those involved!
Very cool, Chris, thank you for the upload
That solo reminded me of Slash so much then the Anastasia lick really sold it
I was just about to comment the exact same thing!. I love it when players seamlessly "inject" licks from other players into their playing, not by ANY means copying but more "tipping their hat towards" another player. AWESOME!
He did often say Slash was a big influence on his playing
Very informative! Thanks! Also great playing as usual.
My dream jam is Chris playing alongside Joe Bonamassa. Chris is a guitar player's guitarist and would make for a great duo with Joe and Chris together.
Whoa! Incredible playing and awesome tone!
Note to self: first learn to play at least half as good as Chris. THEN start worrying about the phase of your pickups
haha true
Go have fun with your guitar, who cares? I’d do it if I had a Les Paul and some spare time
Hmm... Yuri and Carlos have completely different opinions and I find myself agreeing wholeheartedly with both of them. You do reach a point, though, where knowing how to get the tone you’re looking for becomes a part of your playing and your musicianship. I get more compliments on my tone than on my playing, but the two things are completely interdependent.
No doubt here gents. It's all fair game as long as it keeps you motivated and pushes you to play more. I just can't stop being amazed with how much tone variety and color there is in Chris' fingers.
That’s not how G.A.S works. Gears first 😉
Saw the intro clip on facebook, came here to subscribe. Well played, quite literally, well played!
That jam at the beginning is so , so sick. Truly incredible.
Awesome intro jam!
I learn so much from your Friday Fretworks videos, and this one in particular was enlightening. I had no idea Hubert Sumlin played on an out of phase pickup! The combination of history, knowledge, and amazing playing in your videos is just inspiring and I always find myself reaching for my guitar and trying new things thanks to you. So thank you!
I don't think there are any words that can do justice to that opening. Just incredible.
Sound, Playing and Tone.. nailed them all Chris. Love the FFworks series..
Oh man! Your playing and Style are so tasteful! LOVE It. Thanks
Every video, the playing, the tone...........just exquisite. The best..
That was some of the sweetest playing I've ever heard. Well done!!
Always enjoy your playing! I have a 76 Les Paul Deluxe that was modded with an out of phase switch before I got it in 1980. I gigged with it for years and found it quite useful for getting certain tones, kind of like using the 2 and 4 settings on my Strat's 5 way switch.
Fantastic playing!
Your videos have clearly entered into the top tier of guitar videos on RUclips. Never miss one. Great work my friend.
Sounds amazing Chris, great example of out of phase playing and tone...
Of all the videos I’ve been watching to learn about this topic, this is BY FAR the best explanation of out of phase humbuckers! And thanks for adding the historical background as well as the great playing.
Love the content! Keep up the great channel!
informative, not cluttered with 'Hey Look At Me' delivery and your playing is inspirational - first time on youtube my attention has been completely engaged and I can relate to the message
Absolutely gorgeous playing!
Great playing as always 👌 love the backing track on the intro - back to black 👍👍
Such a good channel. The history is awesome! Thank you so much
Chris Buck, that was some incredibly-tasteful playing. Love your channel man, keep it coming!
I know your intro jams are always insanely good, but this one is easily my favorite. There were so many amazing licks and phrases in that, not to mention the TONE. Have mercy, Chris
Fantastic video and playing - inspiring
Thanks, once again, for this edition of Friday Fretworks, Chris. The playing is phenomenal as always, and I love hearing a little bit of historical background as well. By the way, I can definitely hear the nod to one of your idols Slash with the lick from “Anastasia” at 2:04 . Take care!
Damn that "jam" is just amazing, absolutely outstanding. Please release these awesome jams!
Damn dude. Best playing I’ve ever heard from you. You should play an LP forever.
Awesome video with a balance of history, tone and ultimately tasteful playing. Thanks Chris you inspire me to grab my guitar.
Speechless after that intro.
I was so confused at 3:20 when there was no difference... then a few seconds later, “absolutely nothing” 🤣
I'm a very limited guitarist but even if I was much better, I wouldn't think of using most of the notes to color a solo like Chris does. Phenomenal player. There's so many justifiably complimentary comments here, I"ve actually not got the time to like all of them.
Play the bass
Not hyperbole. Honest to God, your playing is absolutely top shelf technically but married to some fantastic feel that, for me, has set you right alongside some lofty company of my favorite guitarists, not just contemporary but all-time. I'm not just casually saying that. It's true. I can think of 6 or 7 players I would most like to see live today, just a cut above others I would still want to see, and if I had to narrow that down to just 2, you would make that cut without reservation. There would be some very well known names left on the cutting room floor, I'm afraid. A couple because I've had the great pleasure of seeing them before and several that would just take the back seat so I could see and hear you instead. Thank you, as always, for sharing.
Great playing. Love it.
beautifully played, loved the Bigsby!!!
Must have watched that intro jam over 10 times today, never dare stop what you're doing Chris!!!
Your instrumental intros are always pretty good, but this one in particular was like super super cool!
Interesting! Loved the opening solo Chris, very soulful
That first jam is absolute sauce * doffs hat *
Some beautiful playing there mate 👍
Great stuff Chris . I spent a bit of time trying to get that Peter Green tone from my Michael Kelly guitar . It has coil tapped humbucker and putting the split on the neck pickup gave a decent imitation of the tone . I recently saw a video of Drew Zing playing with Steely Dan in the nineties and surprisingly all the Larry Carlton style solos were produced in the middle position by him and tbh I would have put my last pound on them being played on the bridge of a 335 . Thanks for the post Chris . 👍
Every video needs to be accompanied with a “how I did that last jam” video. That’s slowed down a lot....
Killer playing man. You make us mere mortals both jaded and un-jaded at the same time!
Chris you're such a charismatic bro and I love how into guitar you are really hoping you can get some more subs soon you deserve a million homie
That solo on the goldtop omg wow.... amazing tone and dynamics, hats off to you mate 👏
Beautiful playing , wow
Awesome vid 👍🔥🎸🦅
Great video! I have a Fender Baja Telecaster, which can wire both pickups in series (as if they were the coils of a humbucker) and set them out of phase... it has that very same nasal characteristic you brilliantly demonstrated. It does not sound particularly pleasing, but it has something to it and it tends to stand out quite well in a band situation
This initial jam solo touched my heart! Didn't hear anything comparable for a really long time!
You play with so much style and complexity, it's a pleasure to listen to.
Insane how good your playing is. I’ve been playing for over a decade and still can’t imagine quite so perfectly nailing every single note!
That is the best intro I have seen of all your videos and that is saying something. I would vote for this in a list of top solos.
"For anyone who's ever listened to or marveled at" ..... I've listened to that line so many times cause i keep playing and marveling at your intro!
incredible guitar playing and info as always.
I love your phrasing and use of dynamics.
Speechless. Must say that Chris plays to my soul. Thank you sooo much for you you tube channel
That intro was SO FU****G SICK! You are one badass guitarist my friend :)
That is hands down the best intro/solo that I’ve ever heard you play.
Dude, every time I check in on your videos, I am blown away. Today, my full intent was to blow past your instrumental piece and get to the review/meat of the session - and I tried, I really did. And then I could no longer look away. Hahahaha! Thanks!
