Super helpful Volvo in Sweden helpt me on our holiday to get the part (180€) 😢 but we had it.. on the way home the car became more and more undriveble…. On the parking lot in Germany we changed the part on a p3 v70 2.5t. It was really hard to get to the little screw. The tip from the fuel pump fuse was super. Big big thanks to you
If after you replace this sensor and it still throws the error code and has the same performance issues, you can try doing a slow electrical discharge (remove the pos and neg battery connectors from the terminals and connect them together with a 1K resistor) to discharge any stored electricity in the capacitors in the computer module, as erasing the error code with your scan tool might not actually erase the memory of the error in the computer; but depleting the electrical system completely will cause the computer to reset to the factory default state and eliminate the vampire error state and keep it from repeatedly throwing that error code. If you have a turbo with 150,000+ miles on it, and after you have replaced the fuel pressure sensor and reset the computer and it keeps throwing the P0193 code and shutting down under acceleration, you might need a new turbocharger. The turbo's waste gate is likely deteriorated and creating the high fuel pressure issue, which will cause the computer to shut the engine off to avoid damage. Most drivers of turbocharged vehicles don't know that they should let the engine idle for a minute or so before turning off the engine to let the turbocharger cool down so it doesn't shut down while red hot and get baked.
Performing a "Battery Reset" will NOT eliminate any codes, not on a Volvo. Your turbo scenario is not in the realm of reality, a faulty turbo will in no way produce a fuel pressure code. The pressure sensor is a common failure which can result in issues as small as a check engine light (fault code) to leaving you on the side of the road. I have experienced all of the various symptoms associated with a faulty fuel pressure sensor.

The XC90/S80 V8 have the same issue with that sensor. Mine randomly threw a "check engine" light during acceleration. Sometimes it was fine for a week, sometimes it came on every few minutes. On the V8 it's a bit more complicated because the intake is sitting above the sensor and therefore blocking most access to it, but it's still possible to change without taking the intake out. Very very fiddly, but if I can do it, you can too.
this is the same on the s60 T5, it has a T25 torx screw except the fuel rail sensor is under the left timing belt cover and I had to grind down a torx screw driver bit, and put it in vice grip pliers to clear the engine mount to loosen the sensor
We have a problem on our 2014 V40 T2. I took it to a supposed Volvo specialist, and despite him running diagnostics, changing a coolant bypass valve, cleaning the throttle housing, and charging us hundreds of pounds, the problem persists. It won't idle/tickover correctly, it stutters and shakes/surges; its particularly bad once the engine is hot and stuck in traffic or at lights/junctions. Once moving it's fine, don't notice it. I'd really like to find the problemany thoughts...?
Replaced 100's of those, but it's NOT a regulator, it regulates nothing. This is a pressure sensor which is monitored by the ECM which in turn communicates with the fuel pump module that REGULATES fuel pump output.
Ive been wondering the same thing. You just answered my question because I can’t find any information on the fuel regulator or it’s location on a 2005 XC90.
@@mosimojones7714 I am NOT wondering. The fuel pressure is regulated by the ECM. The ECM reads the fuel pressure sensor signal to then control the fuel pump module. The pump module (PEM) varies voltage to pump. The pump module was originally located in the RR fender well (XC90), must remove liner to see it. There were service bulletins to relocate the module under the middle row seat, due to corrosion. A wiring harness is required to relocate it.
It is good to point this out. It is only a sensor but as such it is one of those critical members of a sort of chain of command. Chasing down how the code gets triggered and how inconvenient it might be is a matter of personal need. I am curious how prone to failure this sensor has been proven to be. With an old vehicle crispy wiring and connectors can also be the cause of the same code. But to settle on this sensor and go about replacing it will rule faulty wiring out if everything runs fine after replacement.
@@kazparzyxzpenualt8111 I agree. There was a recall on certain of these sensors early on. Sorry nut your title says fuel pressure regulator, but what you are holding in you hand is a fuel pressure sensor.
Fixed! Thx
I paid $300 to have mine exchanged 6 months ago. I couldn't figure out how to get the T25 off in such a small space. Oh well next time I know Thank you!
Who dared to charge you $300 for it?! Smh
As usual, a clean job. And perfect step sowing by video. ( I like earing your russian friend speaking) By curiosity what was the millage of you're 2013 Volvo?
150,000km
Our dreaded serpentine belt is due for replacement after 160K miles on my S80 T6. The dealer wants $1200. Looks like quite a job. What are your plans for this belt?
ID DO YOUR SERPENTINE FOR 500 TODAY LOL , ITS THE TIMING BELT THATS HE ISSUE TO REPLACE THATS MORE LIKE 1200
Did you turn the car off after you pull out the fuse? In the video, after you plug in the fuse again, is the engine automatically restarted or it's your buddy restart the car by the key? Thanks bro.
It won't start automatically.
*sad facepalm*
He also mentioned that pulling out the fuse is optional! Noticed they skipped that part in other how-to videos!
You are great man
does this apply to diesel as well?
Not sure
Did you find out? I'm trying to troubleshoot a p0001 error on my Volvo 1.6 diesel engine
238 is the OEM part for first installation, 239 is a aftermarket part. There is no difference between them.
Wear some safety glasses, after removing the the fuse on my Xc70 I was sprayed in the face with gasoline when removing the old Pressure Sensor. Not a Nice Feeling 😞
I have so many issues with power , i started thinking it is fuel pump or that thing
Whatever you do, don’t buy aftermarket pressure sensor. They will screw up your fuel pump like a did Mine had to put back the old sensor in and fuel pump stopped acting up until put theBosch NEW.
Barometric pressure sensor needs to go also.

Hey im trying to save myself some cash from the overpriced repair for this job. I for the life of me, cannot locate my fuel rail pressure sensor! I have a 2016 volvo s60 t6 premier. its driving me crazy. Any help on this would be a godsend. 🙏🏿
It’s the 4 cylinder engine?
Why do you have to turn on the engine, pull out the fuse before replacing the sensor? Why not just keep the engine off and just replace the sensor?
Pulling the fuse out turns off the fuel pump and releases the fuel pressure in the line.
Because of the desired fuel starvation resulting in lowering the pressure normally built up in the fuel rail.
Hope that helps
Bruh Volvo wanted $1100 to do this 😂😂😂😂😂
So you don’t test anything? Just replacing part based on codes only?
So basically I could guess it’s the part and not watch this video
I have reduced performance engine system
You must read codes.
sooooooo THATS how you avoid getting sprayed with fuel lol
Это что. О чем?
Good luck he is showing a fuel regulator sensor not the regulator itself 🙄
Не че ни понятно
Нашёл русскоязычную версию. Спасибо.

Will this repair process/part # fit a 2010 Volvo S80 3.2L NA? Great, great video!
