Hey thanks! What a great video! My Lexus dealership said it would be $500 to replace the hood struts on my 2010 RX 350. I found a set on Amazon for $14.99 and thanks to your super helpful and easy to follow video, this 55 year old grandma just did it in 5 minutes!
Watched this video first, took 5 minutes to install the pair...just needed a flashlight to get screwdriver in place...made life easy...thanks for the video!
She's making it harder than it needs to be. Take the top one off FIRST by prying the tab out and pulling the arm away from the ball that the socket fits into. (The the clip on the upper one is MUCH more accessible than the lower one). The lower one then just pops out easily once you have the upper one removed without prying the clip out. To install the new ones, pop in the lower one first and then line up the upper one by raising the hood with your free hand while popping in the upper one. Once I figured out the right sequence, it took about 2 minutes.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE INSTRUCTIONS! I ruined my brand new hood strut because this idiot showed to move the metal clip on the new strut WHICH YOU DO NOT DO. The metal clip should only be messed with on the old part. I RUINED MY NEW STRUT! THANKS ALOT FOR YOUR WRONG INSTRUCTIONS!

I have to do this. Should I lubricate the pivot points?

Thanks! I’ll be trying this tomorrow. Hope it’s as simple as your explanation.
Helpful info.
Excellent advice, a 10 minute job!
Thank you!!
Thank you - going out to the driveway to install them right now.
Thank you.

My local auto shop just quoted $700 to replace this. They were charging 1.5 hours of labor. I guess I won't be going back.
