Fantastic video! As wedding DJ/MC, let’s have a chat the week before the wedding to make sure I know how you need to plug into my system. XLR, 1/4”, mono, stereo, etc. The day of you’ll then have everything you need to make sure you capture it all!
One note. Many DJ's either do not allow for "photography" vendors to patch into their mixer, or want to charge the vendor / bride extra money to allow for it. This is more common as DJ's are now moving into the video side of the wedding business as well.
Pro hack. After the ceremony, take the mic from the groom, turn the limiter all the way down and hang the mic over the reception speaker. Works everytime for me.
I've never had a DJ say no to me (I hope I didn't jist jinx it). If it did then id call the couple over and have him explain to them why not. If he still says no, then that big speaker might accidentally get knocked over.
Great video. Quick question: my H4N has not been recording through the 1/2 inputs at the bottom. Neither the XLR nor the 1/4 inch cables have worked. The XY mics on the top though are fine. I've adjusted my input levels and even had the DJ try to adjust his levels and I still get no signal. Any ideas as to what the issue may be? I used the RCA out, headphone jack output, and the XLR output on the soundboard and nothing registers.
Damn.. now need to redo my wedding 18 years since we did it the 1st time.. Then with bad audio! SERIOUS QUESTION ANDREW!!! Can I trade in my 2 x BPTX units for your new BPTRX units? I LOVE how my HDTX records iso as well as transmits, so would be SO GOOD for a trade-up scheme for your connect customers. Due to the 1 year long lockdown here in the UK, my kit hasn't been used.. EVER ! So is mint as the day it arrived?
when you have the grrom perform a test to set audio levels, what levels do you like to see on the peaking -6, -12... or do you leave the recorder on auto level?
Do you have a good recommendation for those that are doing a budget friendly wedding? Something that might be able to be used with their phone or something budget friendly for a recorder?
Any tops for not losing connection between the lav mic and transmitter? I placed a lav transmitter under a grooms jacket AND vest. They were standing about 60 feet away and instantly noticed that my bars dropped down to 1. I knew we werent going to get any sound and I was correct. Luckily we had a handheld for the officiant that was used as a backup. The sytem was a Shure SLXD4.
THANKS FOR THIS...How do you do this if timecode is a necessity for your wedding film? also, dresses now are quite tight on the brides and will bulge out if placed on the tigh of the bride. Do you have a solution for this?
It is CRUCIAL to avoid being dragged into any issues like this that you specify to the client ahead of time at the consultation "you are hiring me to do the video, I will add my own LAV mics to the bride, groom, and officiator to capture all of the necessary conversation for MY Video. I am in no way responsible for the speakers, live sound nor do I exchange gear with the DJ and his/her system. Of course, if you provide the DJ and or sound you can have more control over that, but be VERY sure they KNOW that your audio is for your video only. This has saved me heartache. Also, if you have control over the whole system, it can be much easier obviously. Just remember when customers see a microphone, they think loud speaker. They don't think video dialogue feed.
@@DeityMicrophones I must have missed that product was different from the TX.

Dear deity are there any plans to add 32bit float and dual AD converters to the transmitters for the internal recording ? That would be soooo failsafe, or are there internal limiters?
Great tip & trick for audio backup at the wedding party! Btw, I have a question: instead of using output RCA (or output A in the term of using mixer Zoom like in your video), can we use the Headphone Output to record audio into our handy recorder (Zoom H4, H5, Tascam)? Headphone Output is it Line Level?!
Headphone out is a "line level" of sorts. It too is an amplified signal which will be greater than 1 Volt. So if you do this method (and I've done it before in hard times) making sure the headphone knob is fairly low is key and making sure my recorder has plenty of safe headroom incase of a audio spike.
Thanks. Great tips. Social and safety protocols are more important that ever. If appropriate, I’ll ask the wired talent to give me a walking shimmy once rigged with a lav. Best wishes, stay safe. C
I lost the entire reception recording with the BP TRX. the unit froze if recording more than one hour. although it was fixed through firmware but I can never trust it for longer recording again. btw, the lav came with it was defect and the seller refused to resolve the issue for me. they got me send the bad lav back but never returned back to me.
Hello guys, i try to use my DPA4060 with the BA35 adapter with the wireless system but i got a huge amount of electrical/interference noise. I tried to connect the microphone with the adapter in a zoom h1n recorder and it work really great until a get close with a BP X receiver turn on... do you have any idea where the problem could come from ?
We used to say the breakfast thing for checking levels but few people always gets confused why the hell I'm asking this they just freeze and not saying anything, nowadays just asking something about they had lav mic before, is it first interview or something higher success rate and usually longer answer so I have time to fiddle with the levels
Yoghurt, Granola and Blueberries?! Is this what they eat in the west for breakfast? In India we eat maybe dried root mixed with Elephant saliva (or water)
From my personal experience putting a mic on the bride never works. Once the bride and groom hold hands you can typically get the brides audio off of the grooms mic or house system. Just food for thought when you are a male videographer in female territory
For the ankle strap footage you need to give credit to Matt WhoisMatt Johnson, that is his video footage. ruclips.net/video/4AeNAnvvyVA/видео.html&ab_channel=MattWhoisMattJohnson

There is no channel like this..... golden!!!! Practicality over theoretically
I've been using the xlr output of the speaker right into my zoom h1 mic in on full auto level. Seems to work great.
One note. Many DJ's either do not allow for "photography" vendors to patch into their mixer, or want to charge the vendor / bride extra money to allow for it. This is more common as DJ's are now moving into the video side of the wedding business as well.
those DJ's are lame.
I’ve never had this happen. That’s whack

this is true, I've seen many DJ's now making videos as well & they don't like it when photography vendors use their equipments.

Great info! Can you do a follow up on how sync/use all the different recordings?
Hey. We did a video about that a while back.

When is this BP-TRX going to be available?
Another great video Andrew and team 😊
What kind of limiter do you use? And how do you set the input levels? Can you get more detailed on it?
Any idea on availability of the BP-TRX? Way to tease! Deity connect kit sold on on your site as well :(
Connects are coming back and the BP-TRX is very very soon. We are filming the promo material as we speak.
What is the clipper you used on the speakers with the zoom H1n?
Thank you!
Thanks a lot
Straight up gold!
Would love to see how we can hook up each person and get signal through a speaker as well? Is that possible?

Are those TRX synced to the Deity Connect Receiver? Or is this something different?
For this episode we only used the built in recorder in each unit.

How do you deal with super windy situations? Hiding the lav behind the buttonhole is not going to stop that - tip?
Would have liked links to all the equipment you were using.

What's the product you use to mount the H1 in front of the speaker? Been looking for that but it seems I don't have the right search terms.

Does anyone know what the name of the flex arm is?
Now how do you assemble all of this in post?

Where can I fund instructions what output settings to put when recording to mixpre with xlr connections
Just make sure your VU meters hit -12dB
Great instruction but yall couldve fixed my man shirt buttons fr. 😢
Cor, as someone looking at starting wedding videography I'm cringing at the £££££ 🤣
I have a d3 pro and I don’t see any difference with the gain knob. Idk 🤷♂️.
Your devices AGC is counter acting the knob. Turn off auto gain.
