I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Leukemia used to be a death sentence but its treatable now and many forms are curable. I had another form of cancer 32 years ago and my treatment cured me. Good luck to you and best wishes for a cure. 👍

I also had AML. I understand crying in the hospital, just wanting to be home. She mentioned processed foods. She’s right. I stopped eating processed foods, high sugar foods (cancer loves sugar), frozen foods etc. Fresh veggies & fruit now. In remission 9 years.

Bless you and your husband, Grace. Thank you for sharing your story. I'm sorry that you went through all of this, and such barbaric marrow biopsies. I pray that you will stay cancer free.
15 yrs ago, one of my best friends had a backache for about a month. Then, he woke up with a fever and blisters all over his body. His mother insisted that he go to the ER. At first, they thought that he had a virus and asked if he had been fully vaccinated as a child. He had been. It was AML.
They immediately admitted him to the hospital and began a blood transfusion, followed by chemo. He did a bone marrow check around day 10 in the hospital. It was clear. The drs were thrilled that one round of chemo worked. But they didn't want him to go home until his blood work showed that his immune system was stronger. They didn't want him to get an infection.
We were on the phone the day after his good news, and made plans for me to visit him in the morning. He had to get off the phone because a nurse was there to change one of his lines that got infected. That was the last time that I spoke to him.
Overnight, the infection was overwhelming his body, so they put him on antibiotics. He had an allergic reaction to it, and his throat started closing. As they were intubating him, he panicked (who wouldn't?) and had a heart attack. His heart stopped, they brought him back, but he was in a coma. They had to put him on life support. Meanwhile, he had sepsis and his organs were failing.
His family called me in the morning and had me rush to the hospital. The hospice dr said that he would not survive the organ damage. We had them end medical intervention, and I stayed with him. He was gone 4 hrs later.
The dr explained that AML is the worst leukemia to fight because by the time someone is symptomatic, it's very advanced.
Hospitals are filled with so many germs and viruses. I have always wondered if he should've gone home and not stayed in the hospital. And perhaps if they could've given him something to immediately calm him as his throat was closing and they were shoving a tube down his throat, then he would not have panicked and had heart attack. They have to treat patients more gently and with compassion. There's no reason that people should be suffering pain and anxiety during procedures, even in some emergencies. They gave my friend a heart attack instead of waiting a few more seconds.
    😢 RIP Mark ❤

Hoping for your complete recovery. I was diagnosed with AA, a kind of blood disorder. I had this before covid, 11 years now. I had bone marrow aspiration too. It's painful. But up to now i never had any medical intervention. Blood test, continuous monitoring. I never had any vices at all. It is a rare disease. I have to change the food i eat, all organic. No process food. I am still alive by the graceof God. I give everything to Him. Thank you is not enough for extending my life up to now
Always be grateful 🙏 and appreciate even small things. I give Praises and Glory to our great healer.

My sister in law was supposed to undergo a surgery to remove her benign breast lump last May 2024, but her RBC were very low, after a bone marrow test, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Last June she had a throat infection and fever. She was confined and given pain killers then she recovered and went home. Three weeks ago she complained of terrible lower back pain and was hospitalized again. The painkillers made her creatinine level shoot up to 700. She had difficulty breathing until she wasn't able to wake up anymore. The doctor said her brain had swelling and deviation, worrisome for metastasis. She passed away 10 days ago. We were devastated.

I don't think you will ever know what causes cancer. I had tumors in my trachea when I was a few months old. They treated it with Cobalt Radiation. Years later I developed pre cancer in my thyroid, caused by the radiation. Three years ago I was treated for breast cancer. My father's side of the family has the gene for colon cancer & lung cancer. I don't know why and me and my siblings go for regular screening so that if we should get it, it's found early. I am just grateful for everyday! Good luck to you Grace. I dont understand when people say this. I definitely know what causes cancer. I'd be willing to bet you have somewhere around 100 known carcinogens in your house and on your body right now. Do you use makeup? Hair products? Laundry detergent, household cleaners? Do you wear synthetic clothing? Do you sleep on a generic mattress? Do you eat non organic fruit and meat from the grocery store? Do you eat hot dogs? Did your mother do all that? All of those things have toxic ingredients and all of them have known carcinogens in them. That means cancer causing. Unless you have gone above and beyond to seek out the non toxic versions of all of these things, you can develop cancer and cysts and tumors. That is your bodies way of trying to contain all of the toxins you're putting into it, and it is too overloaded to handle it. Paper receipts and all plastic contains forever chemicals which your body cannot detox.
It's a large rabbit hole to go down, but it is worth it.

@@katiet1768people who live away from all these ,dont get cancer?
i feel like its MORE linked to just random genetic error , given we already know many cancers have a genetic family link to them and people from that family get it more....that would suggest a general strong genetic component to this. im not saying what youre suggesting is invalid .definitely not. but it doesnt seem to be clear HOW MUCH of an affect it has....it could just be ,quite low or quite high

    • @katiet1768
      @katiet1768 Месяц назад +1

@annipsy2185 5-10% of all cancer is caused by genetics. So at least 90% is from an "unknown" cause. Something I have learned going on this journey is that people won't hear what they don't want to know. The tribes and populations of people that truly live away from this, have no record of disease or cancer.

Yes, you have to request anesthesia; they usually do not offer it. You may have to pay out of pocket but most people would versus enduring the marrow aspirate. It is standard of care for pediatric cancer., thank goodness!
The first bone marrow is the worst because the marrow is packed with tumor cells.😢

Thank you Grace for sharing your story I lost my young sister to leukemia she got chronic leukemia and she got treatment only bc a Dr told her you are doing good with treatment you don’t need transplant she was 40 young she would survive if she had gotten a transplant but she was convinced by this profesional not to do it, she was on remission ,until 3 years later leukemia came back as a AMl acute leukemia ,and this one is fatal if you don’t get transplant well she went to ER she was doing fine she was release home but next day she got pneumonia probably from the hospital she went back and immediate they introduced the tube in her throat I could hear her screaming really loud in pain, after that she was induced in coma later they put her on a rotating bed to get the mucous moved from the lungs and she was doing fine responding well to the treatment but one day I went like everyday I did she was having Bruises in her forehead her tongue was outside her mouth when I asked what happen did she felt when nurses were changing ? Nobody wanted to give a reason they told me that she was having brain death and was on life support, I was how that happen she was ok yesterday I’m pretty sure she felt on the floor really bad in her brain and I notice the rotating bed was in a bad position I told them that is not right why is she upside down ? They came to put her in the right position the nurse in turn didn’t know how that bed worked , I feel til these day that they kill her also if she would done the transplant I’ll have my sister still alive.

I understand why you needed to know what caused your cancer, but the reality is that cancer is too random, in that things line up like genetics, biology, and environment. And even then it's not certain. Some people drink and smoke and do not get cancer, other's don't and get cancer. You're a lovely person inside and out. I will follow your story and hope you live a long content life ❣

If I'm even understanding correctly it is comforting to learn that it is possible to change blood types because I'm 0 - and always thought that I'd be at a disadvantage if I ever needed an organ transplant . Even animals in the wild who lead healthy lives get diseases if they manage to live that long . Age itself is a risk factor and there is never any guarantee .

He also got an infection for New mistosis typhlitis virus which is the Guts rotten inside. He spent 2 weeks in the ICU for all those infections and they removed the gallbladder causing the gallstones. I am sorry for you having had leukaemia, and what hurts extra is the need to blame yourself for a cancer that is literally a lottery. This is the fault of public health communication that emphasises lifestyle as a shield against cancer when science shows that except for a couple of cancers that have clear environmental and behavioural causes (e.g., some lung cancers, some skin cancers), most cancers are a function of age and otherwise random.
Ableism hurts us all. No one is more or less deserving of cancer. No one deserves cancer. Not those who smoke, not those who eat junk food, not those who use drugs, no one deserves cancer. And most cancers are out of our control.

I got so gaslit when i told my coworker that when you get constant repetitive needle pokes, the more you use the vein, the more it hurts because the vein develops scar tissue, and it starts to become SO painful to get your blood drawn. My coworker said I was being psychosomatic. I tried to give the example of when long term intravenous drug users need to find new veins like in their mouth or under the naols or alternative veins.

Did anyone here who had/has cancer have any body stressors anytime before your diagnosis, like mental stress or grief, over working, over exercising, or an unhealthy diet? I've been doing lots of research and found that most people who had cancer had some type of stressor beforehand. Some body stressors may not feel like stress. For example, running marathons makes people feel good, but it's actually stressing the body. Anything that over stresses the body causes systemic inflammation and cell malfunction and lowers the immune system so it cant repair damage thats happening.

I got diagnosed in 2016. The prior year I visited a friend whose son unknowingly had mono. I got it and soon after got leukemia. Every time I get a virus my lymphs swell all over. I suggest that the best thing you can do is avoid viruses, illnesses even colds. Its worse for blood cancer then foods or anything else .

I immediately go back to Philippines and have a second option .I go to Hematogy doctor and ask me to test my blood and its very expensive but I prepare to that blood test rather than to do a bone marrow test.
So after the blood test the doctor confirmed that I have a rare blood cancer and just gave me a medicine capsule for cancer . Its more than 1 year now and feel good and every 3 months ask me to do the ordinary blood test.I just surrender my life to God in the name of Jesus. And every day I woke up I thanks to God.
