I also had adrenicortical carcinoma that was diagnosed in Dec. 2001 after months of testing. This is a very rare cancer and they don't have the tests for it like they do for other more common cancers. At the time there was no chemo or radiation that worked. Only surgery. It's good to hear they have done more research. I'm glad to say I am 22 years cancer free. Kudos to my surgeon and team at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

There are factors to consider. If the doctor was employed by a medical center they cannot offer free care that would be at their emp!oyer's expense. Then also II s they are paying out of pocket and might not be able to continue to do so, that can also be an issue.

Yes, here in the States, unless one can get Medicaid or is over 65 and on Medicare (that’s me, but I still have to pay for supplemental health insurance), or have enough money to buy insurance, one is up that creek. Americans don't take care of themselves well enough for universal Healthcare coverage. 66% are overweight, 40% obese, over 50% are pre-diabetic, and the list goes on and on. The medications alone would bankrupt this country, hell they already are. Healthcare costs the government more money then the military currently, and it's only growing every year. It's unsustainable and the cracks are beginning to show, increased wait times, more misdiagnosis, worse care, doctor shortages, ect.

I am in remission from Cushing's disease due to a pituitary tumor. Fortunately pituitary tumors are rarely malignant, but the disease caused by the tumors is the same. Along with the side effects and many of the treatments. Alot of us with pituitary tumors end up having to get our adrenal glands removed if it comes back or pituitary surgery is unsuccessful.
Your high blood pressure is most likely a side effect of the tumor if it's actively producing cortisol, the hydrocortisone can cause it as well. Hydrocortisone is a balancing act. Too little and you feel like death. Too much, and you get the horrible side effects.
Word of advice: if you have to inject your solu cortef, after you draw up your dose, twist off the needle of the syringe and put a new one on from an unused syringe. When you push the needle through the rubber stopper it gets dull. Replacing the needle makes it hurt alot less.
