We did a glorious week on the Leeds Liverpool from Silsden to Foulridge and back in the autumn some years ago. One of my favourite trips. There’s a lovely market at Barnoldswick by the way!

When you have really fresh bread doorsteps are the way to go. And so much better than the thinly sliced pre packaged stuff.
MANY years ago when I was really into hill walking, I used to regularly walk in The Lake District, Brecon Beacons and North Wales. The Pennine Way was on my wish list but life took me in a different direction. I really appreciated seeing it in the clear frosty weather.
Carry on pootling and good luck with the hunt for an “allotment”

I grow my own produce on my small farm, it's about so much more than the food. It's connecting with nature, the seasons, the rhythms, getting out of the analytical mind and creating in plants, sunshine, fresh air, being quiet, getting sore muscles and sweating, and harvesting a reward that's bigger than just the food on the plate. I really hope you can get your hands in the dirt this year! I for one look forward to seeing what you grow!

So scared your dogs are going to jump into canal. Rich isn’t fit enough to go after them ,tho I know he’d do his hardest!fran too small. What a wonderful life they lead. People are so awfully cruel and yours wouldn’t do any better in a royal residence,they are both S0 lucky. As are you both for pleasure and pain🙊they give . I’m thinking of two muddy bodies!!!!xx
Archie sometimes jumps in but is a very strong swimmer. We would both go in after them if needed, remember the canal water is only about 4 ft deep
Lovely vlog as usual. We're sitting watching this trying to get warm. Your walk in the frost and ice is not helping. But beautiful scenery and love the area. We spent a couple of holidays up there.. Pre covid. Hope you find you plot of land soon as I'm sure you want to get planting in time for summer. Keep warm!.

When you get to Lower Park Marina at Barnoldswick, there is a herbal shop in the marina. Danielle who runs it forages and makes her own potions. She made one for my knee, worked wonders.

We Swedes stand cold temperatures well too, February 1987 we had a period of 14 days with minus 32 centigrades and in the end the ferry traffic in the archipelago was canceled and roads were built over the ice instead. If you turn to cruising only in the autumn, winter and spring your plans for the Lancaster canal will fall.
It is a shame we didn't get to the Lancaster canal this time, but it gives us an excuse to return north another time
@@FloatingOurBoat Please, when you go there, make a pair of little longer films from the Ribble Link, I love those more "dramatical" parts of the net but will I guess never be able to do them live myself.

We would love something like that, but they are not allowed to grow on their land, so no good for us
Lovely to see you two out n about with such beautiful scenery to share on your walks.... here in Oz so much food now is expensive and understand completely about the satisfaction on gets from growing your own food... thanks to covid lockdowns I began interested in gardening and growing food... not the best at it but never realised the simple joy in making something that you grew ie strawberries 2nd season I made a few jars of conserve & jam wow the tastes were awesome and simple things like growing raspberries and eggplants I sound really weird but the joy brings one such ease hard to explain.... good luck with finding your own piece of land to grow & just relax cheers Debz from Oz
It doesn't sound weird at all. We can't get away from longing for our own veg patch again and the joy it brings. It sounds like you are doing brilliantly and raspberries are the absolute best
This is a beautiful vlog on our new tv 70 inch which we really think is too big but it was on sale about same price as the 65 inch and our tv after 14 years was done its like I am on the boat with u bye from the Wishkah

Lovely views near Gargrave and surrounding countryside. Hope you find a place you can grow your own food. If you are heading this way soon, there is an allotment next to the canal at Top Lock and Johnson’s Hillock locks, Wheelton. Maybe some interest to you. Hope that you have recovered now. Always enjoy your videos. Lovely part of the world. Warmed up to -6C here. Can’t run the pellet stove full time as it gets to hot in the house. Woke at 4AM and started it. Gave me enough time to watch your video but now it’s time to cut the fuel supply and go back to bed. Hope you find a place. I think that would be quite ideal

What a smashing video! Thank you. Could you maybe tow a pontoon garden behind you, maybe 20 feet or something? I realise the impracticality if some of this but you'd have the garden with you at all times? Just a daft thought!
There are a couple of boaters on the system who tow tiny rowing boats as gardens, but it does make cruising very difficult and still not the same as digging your own patch
I like your idea about being able to grow your vegetables. It’s out in the universe now, so hopefully you’ll soon find that space :)

Occasionally garden type moorings come up for sale at the Rainbow Fields moorings just outside Barby Moorings marina near Rugby, on the North Oxford canal. They do seem quite nice sections and some do have small buildings on.
They would be perfect but you have to get in really quickly as they get snapped up. We hope someone might give us the heads up when they are available
