now lets be fair about the storm power gloves ,i have osteoarthritis in my knuckles on my bowling hand and have a hard time gripping the ball. the glove and the pads have helped me keep bowling
😃 Agree I have tried products similar 2 all 3 of those. At this point I would say all 3 are worthless for me. The 3rd device although I never used that particular one. I still have 2 that are very similar they have all the same little dials, and knobs. Makes all the same posting adjustments. So its the same thing. I used it off and on for several years. Eventually though I stopped using them for good around 2009. Unlike the first 2 products I would say the 3rd can be useful for a beginner. At least if you plan on being a traditional 1 handed thumb in the ball bowler. No thumb or 2 handed forget it. Although it looks cool on your bowling arm, might good if you need to break glass.😃 Anyway assuming the bowler is one hand thumb in the ball. It is useful for a beginner, and maybe if you have an old injury to your bowling arm and hand. I would despute though that any of those products actually increase the bowlers rev rate. I actually gave up on those things because they were actually after time becamd a hindernce to my rev rate. The thing about rev rate its a little miss leading. You need a rev rate that will actually compliment your ball speed. If you are only throwing the ball slow 10-12 mph like me and your rev rate is 200 rpm for example mine is probably around that. You are still rev dominate. So those big metal wrist devices especially are a hindrance. Rather then trying to Increase the rev rate in that case the bowler. Most likely probably a SR bowler. Im not that old yet. I have physical issues that keep my ball speed slower. Anyway my point in those cases the bowler is better off studying up on drilling patterns, surface preo, and just ball selection in general. The same though would hold true if you are speed dominate. your selection of equipment, drill patterns, and surface prep. Still are more important than your actual rev rate. Higher ball speed doesn't always equal a higher rev rate. Like I said though your rev rate needs to compliment your ball speed, and vice versa. People just get caught up in the rev rate thing. Because they see guys like Belmo avrraging a rev rate over 500 with two hands, and the Freaks of nature like Tacket that can also hit over 500 RPM with one hand and his thumb in the ball. Anyway unfortunately although I found the video entertaing. None of those products are going to give you the rev rate of Belmo or EJ. The only thing I actually wear on my bowling wrist now is actually a weight lifters wirst wrap. No metal in it at all. I have full movement of my bowling hand and wrist. The only thing it actually does for my bowling game is prevent injury. Putting the wrist wrap on is easier for me then using KT tape to tape my wrist every time I bowl. Also cheaper. I don't need to keep buying more KT tape all the the time. Sorry for rambling. You are right the video was funny. The products though at least for me are completely useless.💩💩
I've been using a Robby's rev brace primarily because it keeps my wrist from breaking because poor wrist strength (Or carpal tunnel, i'm not sure which). I can't keep my hand behind the ball without serious pain otherwise. It does give me more revs, simply because it helps get my thumb out first, but i throw a few shots every now and then without it to test my wrist, and i can mostly replicate that now.
I liked the basic wrist support. I have been struggling sometimes with sore wrists when i really focus on a straight wrist, this could help! the fancier they got the less i think they are good for overall improvement though..
@tvbowlingsupply I use the storm c4 brace and with having a weak wrist it has helped me out tremendously bowling. But now that you say something I didn’t think about, I’ve tried getting my pitches checked and changed, thumb size etc and still having trouble occasionally losing the ball off my hand. I think I need to ask my pso to fit me with my brace on with my three new bowling balls I just got. Harsh reality, attention star, and absolute power before getting them drilled to see if it makes a difference. Thanks man idk why I didn’t think of that to see if that might be the issue! Love the videos!
I actually recently got the Storm Xtra grip glove without the wrist support and its great. Basically just some rubber on the palm and finger tips to help you grip and rip. Even as a two handed bowler i noticed my rev rate go up a lot. Not a fan of the ones with metal supports that hold your hand in place. My dad still uses one though and he swears by it. Great vid thanks for the upload!
What's a good wrist support? Had surgery on my hand and my wrist is weaker and causing me some issues I've moved to my index and middle finger due to the surgery... I think I might just wrap it 😅😅
Idea for use, training applications for having feel of where wrist should be while going up the back etc. I used it when injured to not flex backwards and found it useful for"fixing" positions during practices. Can't get shit on the ball when using it so don't use it for games but as tool for practice it was some help
I know you made this six months ago and for some reason it’s first now popping up on my RUclips feed. I will say this you are already a high- rev professional bowler. A real test would have been to take someone who is not on your level, an average league bowler, for example, measure their rev rate without any support, and then measure their rev rate with each of these devices to see if the packaging claims stand up. Maybe that’s something you would consider doing in the future.
I have a weak wrist now that i'm older and have problems with it. Just started bowling again after 20 year layoff. Where I was not even able to walk. 10 weeks into a 15-week league wrist really hurts & only at 181 average, but I've been slowing climbing each week. Could that last one help my wrist problem is the question? Just subscribed with notifications
I use a Pete Weber like Strike force glove that's more or less and NFL receiver glove but not for revs since I'm 1 hand thumbless it is only for the calluses on my index and pinky fingers from my release
FIrst thing you do with that storm glove (the first one) is remove the bar on the top and bend it to your comfort. Mine is bent about to the curvature of a bowling ball. It helps remind me to keep my wrist straight and/or cupped. These supports might not help you, but they do help many, especially women who are throwing heavier weight bowling balls.
Exactly. I don’t use them, but they aren’t going to “increase rev rate” for someone with proper technique already. They’re designed for those that don’t keep their wrist straight to give them consistent release position.
I gave up on wrist supports when I realized when I wanted to manipulate my hand positions I couldn't do it. Best decision made cause I've seen alot of bowlers struggle when their guards break or they can't adjust it to how they want.
Considered getting one of these because I'm in a weird spot - no thumb one hander (think Tom Daugherty), but I broke my wrist twice a couple of years ago and I simply can't do it any more because I can't hold the ball securely enough to get a large backswing, and putting my thumb in the ball makes it so hard for me to not bend my wrist backwards at the bottom that I can't hook it at all
i have a surgically repaired wrist , shattered my distal radius in 3 pieces in 2018, never thought id bowl again. But i did, and my most recent brace the C4 has been a game changer. I started league this season with a 130 avg , its currently at a 155 and rising. It helps me immensely
