  • This is a quick and easy explanation of how to remove a garbage disposal especially a stuck one! The one in video has already been unplugged from the power as that step is #1 and plumbing trap/elbow also removed (you will need a catching pan for the stinky water.

    This is one of best ever instructional videos I've ever viewed & I've watched tons of em!
    Short, focused & simple for the only somewhat complex part of removing a disposer WHERE I've installed & replaced a half dozen in my life just not done it in like 7 or 8 years! Lol!

    • @coachdale8758
      @coachdale8758 3 года назад

      I should clarify my comments... I guess for a completley novice home person who has never handled any plumbing needs a longer video that includes the pipes PLUS the electrical stuff! That is stuff I do all the time.

    • @reallystrangebuttrue
      @reallystrangebuttrue  3 года назад

      Thank you so much for the awesome positive feedback! I think the thumbs down my also have to do with the fact that I down talked having garbage disposables. Unfortunately it was in a frustrating moment where we also had a tenant at that time basically tried to not bring trash out to the dumpster but instead tried running absolutely everything in the garbage disposal to the point where we had to bust out walls to replace the plumbing that was so badly stopped up. Ugh!
      In replying to your second comment, you are correct, there is a lot of information that can be out there towards electrical, plumbing, but my main focus was at the time of this video to point out a couple of things why that disposal would not come off of the sink.
      After figuring it out, I knew others would run into the same problem and I wanted to help save a marriage etc lol
      There is a lot that more information when it comes to plumbing and electrical that can make for some very long videos but my video was for the folks who found themselves in that same frustrating moment in time where I was.
      I am glad that this video has helped you out and thank you so much for the positive feedback and taking time to leave it.

      I will never forget the day when it stumped me and after figuring it out, all I wanted to do is to make sure no one went through the same stressful thing of removing a garbage disposal, I mean, it’s supposed to be a simple thing lol and while uploading the video, my wife asked if I wanted to monetize it?
      I said no way in the world would I want someone to have to watch a commercial when all they need is help removing the thing! I was about to grab the reciprocator, saw to remove it!
      So, in short,
      My riches are in heaven.
      We thought about finally converting the channel, did grow the channel surpassing every requirement to monetize it a few years ago but, RUclips would never reply back to us.

    I was so intimidated after watching several videos. then I found yours and it took LITERALLY LESS THAN A MINUTE!!! I cant thank you enough!
    Now I'm going to see if you have a video about how to re plumb with the pvc because the kit the guy at Lowes sold me doesn't make any sense.

      Aww, Thank you! I’m so glad that it helped you out but unfortunately I did not put together a video on plumbing in a new one. Trust me though it’s not as difficult as you think and as always if you get frustrated, step away from it for a few seconds. Good luck!

    Glad you posted this. I was looking at the garbage disposal and wondering how in the heck do I get it out. Took like 10 seconds to include the cross over pipe. I just left the dishwasher hose hooked up and sat the disposal off to the side. I had to fix a water pipe and was made a 100 times easier with that thing out of the way..

    Dude! Soooo helpful! The first thing you mention about a leak turned out to be the entire problem. So rather than having to remove thw whole thing, all I had to do was tighten the screws! So helpful, in fact, that I didn't even have to watch the whole video. Lol. Thanks man. You rock!

    I got it, just 31/2 hours, I could not get the bottom ring to move at all, I finally just held the bottom part of the disposal and turned it with the tool- on there like a shim thingy. Now I need a nap before taking off the rest. Thank You!

    Excellent. The biggest fault of most "professional instructions" is that they assume too much and forget the obvious....in this case, that you have to get the old one off before you can get the new one on. Kudos on a solid and helpful video.....

    Came back from WA yesterday to find my garbage disposal was leaking. Bought a new one and didn't know how to install it. After watching your video, I realized I probably just needed to adjust it and replace the fiber gasket. Oh well, it was $70 at Costco. After installation works and so far no leaks. Thanks for making a straightforward and accurate DIY video.

    Quick and to the point. I replaced an Insinkerator (3-point mount) with a Waste King (EZ Mount). I didn't know about the snap ring. After watching your video I found the snap ring and popped it off. Rest of the installation was a breeze after that. Thanks!

    Holy crap *thank you*. Every other guide I found was like "and then turn the thing with a thing and it'll come off the thing!" no mention of what the things were, and no mention of how to get the final piece off the sink. I was damn near about to give up before I found this video.

    This video is spot-on. I'm glad I found this simple and short explanation which saved me a lot of time. After about 10 minutes of struggling with the screws around the retainer plates to no avail, I was at a loss. After reviewing this video, I removed my garbage disposal in a matter of seconds and now it's gone!
