Whether it's a whole video or not I would love to hear your thoughts on the trainer paddles. I plan to buy one but since you mentioned the idea a few weeks ago I've been stuck between thrive, fluid, franklin, and amazon qyntelix. Great job with the podcast from an overnight trucker you help at least a couple hours of driving not feel like work.
I've hit them since then and like the Fluid and Thrive ones the most. They both have a good balance to them that feels realistic. I haven't hit the Qyntelix though.
New studio needs better lighting. Glad your'e at the house. Hope there's no QC issues with the Ultimate. What about break in.? I just weighted up my GBPro PwrE with 4gm @3&9 and 6gm @ 4&8. This set up took some time to dial in for me. I've always played a 9plus paddle OWLS fall appart so fast at the edges.
Hey, do you plan on doing a review on the 14mm Black Diamond? The power/pop/firepower numbers looks good according to John Kew's database, but it doesn't seem to be getting any love.
Cool new studio! One thing, maybe add a fill light for the foreground. Some deep shadows on your faces. But overall it’s a cool esthetic and good sound quality 👏
Engage is huge with their clinics. I was in Costa Rica a few months back and they had 220 people at their clinic.everybody buying their paddles. Same here in California with clinics at Palm Springs. I think they are on to something with these.
Ah maybe they are just leaning more into those. That makes sense. If they are having success there then why not invest more. I do think it helps to have some pro sponsors though to add recognition and validity to your paddles so people feel cool using one.
@@pickleballeffect That makes sense. I will say that I play with folks who play pickleball 3-5 times per week and they couldn't name a single pro player. As successful as ALW is, I have never seen her paddle on the courts. But if our pro is doing demos or they go take a clinic, many will buy a paddle based on that experience.
Good video, but yes... the lighting is an issue and also, if you're gonna wear sponsored stuff, you should make sure it faces the camera. You look like you're wearing a plain white tshirt and a blank black hat. For the wide shots, you're at such an angle that you can almost see that there is something on your left pec, but then the close-ups angle had the mic in the way.
Lol. That was me that snagged you guys from the back of Grand Stand. "Neon Melin, and a KTCHN bag must be Brayden and Kyle." Nice to meet you guys glad you enjoyed your time in Kaysville.
Quick camera work feedback: the wide shot appears to be ever so slightly out of focus or depth of field isn't correct. It's looks kind of like a soft filter has been used and is noticeable to me when cutting to the individual camera shots which are very sharp. Also for the individual camera's Kyles has the tube light strategically hidden behind him while in Braydon's it's visible and needs to be hidden. It looks lie he has a lightsaber coming out of his shoulder. This is just what jumped out to me; I'm here for the content and insights, not the production level. :)
Kyle mentioned the Thompson paddles again in this pod. The technology sounds cool and the swing weight and twist weight numbers you mentioned on the previous pod sounded almost too good to be true. I’m always looking for an innovative made in America brand. Are you planning on doing a review of them?
I can’t decide between old vs new model paddles and a budget paddle shootout! Both seem like great subjects that I have been curious about. Can you do both??? 😂
Yes, I played well enough with it that I’m going to come back to it after these next couple of reviews and see how it goes. I wish they made it in a standard shape and then it would be really tough to put down. I’ve also really been digging the 11six24 all court.
Great Pod you two, getting better and better! I really hoped for a comparison to the GB Pro Control EL. how does this new one stack up against that. My wife currently plays exclusively with the GB PC EL, and it's getting time to replace her paddle and im really wondering about the difference in play between these two paddles. She isn't one for drastic change, but I would buy her the Ultimate if it's an improvement over the GB PC EL.
The Ultimate plays more similar to the PPE than the PCE and would probably be too much of a drastic change if she likes the power and control ratio of the PCE.
If we can take the idea of quiet panels, but not make them quite so quiet the idea of being to have a grabby surface for a lot of spin. Maybe we can get out those who spin last a lot longer. That would be next evolution along with better swing weights.
Gearbox giving up too much paddle face, heavy swing weight and high balance point just doesn’t work. Quiet paddles are the future! But they have to be legal!
The Saudis will end up buying pro American PB. The money they can put up will be too irresistible. Much like their attempt to take over the PGA Tour. It was unsuccessful, so they started LIV golf…offering top players unreal contracts. The Saudis will offer American PB players unreal contracts. The money will be too tempting. My take.
Before they buy in there needs to be more mainstream media, yes they have the dough but the infrastructure is not in place, I’ll bet there will be many sellouts but the coverage is not there yet!
I wish they had it in a 16x8 shape to make it lighter and the core would still give you the power. But yeah, I didn’t think I’d like it as much as I did.

Guys if you wish and want to do a review on the OM (racquet) paddle British Company.

Haha we were just talking about that this morning! Thanks for the feedback!
Yup too dark! But it will all come together
But where do we get shogun shirts?
go get yourself a shogun shirt! Here's the link - breadbutterpickleballco.sjv.io/AW4nyD
@@pickleballeffect Is this a secret catalog? How come I can't see it?
@@jordhansenidk ha I can see it when I click on the link. Maybe I’ll have to order one for you.

We have a good friend Joey Brandes that actually travels around doing Engage clinics.

Good call out, I didn’t even notice that till I read this. I’ll mess with the positioning of the tube light behind me too. Thanks for listening!

Yeah, opening up the rules on spin would be nice
So we are allowed to have quiet paddles with unlimited power? So instead of paddle noise we will have ambulance noise.
I do like the spin.
Do old vs new paddle battle.

I agree, we have a plan for that on the next one
Why don’t any pros play with Gearbox?
There are a few. Esquivel, Mario, JMA lately, DJ this tournament.

Why can’t you grind off the cap to put a slice on?
That sounds like a lot of work but i suppose you could.

Hang a nice PE logo on the wall
Yeah, that would look sharp. We had the same idea, I just ordered this cool big foam logo to put there. Hopefully it turns out sweet.

Green is the best color
Braydon adds "ink" to the end of some words. Is that an Idahoan accent? Sorry if this has been asked before.
