Love these! The elbow tucked was a great point
Hi Braeden. I ordered tungsten tape from pickleball effect after watching this video. I ordered the wrong weight and need the 1/2 gram. The order has not processed and i could not find a place to communicate with you on the site. Lmk. Popkin is order name
Thanks for the order! Send an email to support@pickleballeffect.com and my retail guy will take care of you.
Should have included the Gruvn Lazr-16S. The best paddle I have ever used and I have owned 16 different paddles and have tried other paddles as well.
John is my favorite online instructor, so I throw this out there as a point of discussion: - I think the wiffle backspin is removed when it hits the court surface, don’t think it is an opponent topspin multiplier - I think a player wanting to hit big topspin would much rather have a higher bounce regardless of what spin is on the ball. If your opponent is good enough to rip big topspin off your good low bouncing backspin shot (difference between floaty slice and tennis-like knifing slice) , just try them with a topspin drive that bounces up to their waist. The true topspin multiplier surely is the ball higher in their strike zone. On these types of discussions, we have the ability to watch with our own eyes, don’t need to debate. Watching pros … even better with slow motion or frame by frame video … we can test our thoughts/opinions. I just watched Mari Humberg hit nonstop forehand slice return of serve in the MLP finals. I didn’t see one male or female pro dominate that next shot with topspin++. Even more ironic, her partner was Zane Navratil who I think was the original “slice no longer works” video. I know Federer never got the memo his slice one handed backhand was going to double Nadal’s topspin. If someone is a physics expert on wiffle spin vs rubber ball spin. now is your time to speak up. 😂 Enjoyed the video guys, good idea Braydon.
There are a few pros who can actually teach and break down the mechanics of the game. John is one of them. Now I just need him to hold a 4.0 - 4.5 clinic somewhere tropical in April. 🌴🌞
Elbow tuck tip was what i needed to hear!
Where do you add weight on the monarch all court? I find it a bit underpowered compared to my Hurache x control plus
I put three grams at 3 and 9 o’clock.
Would be cool to see reviews and stats of the Amazon brand paddles that are in the sub $75 range like the Jojolemon, PVRMRTG, GAYRE etc...
Just to add a little personal anecdotal evidence regarding GB durability, I've been playing with my Pro Power Fusion (Integra) for quite a while. I did a lot of research and felt like it was exactly what I was looking for, so I purchased it even though I knew I would have to spend $275 without the option of returning it. And I was right, it's been my favorite paddle ever since. I love edgeless design for its agility, and it has a lot of good power while also better control than the Prokennex Black Ace, which I had previously. I've been playing with it exclusively for over 13 months. It's possible there's a little less spin now, but there has been almost no decrease in performance. I've just ordered the hyper, and I'm excited to play with that one for the next year plus!
@pickleballeffect has anyone reviewed the new ripples that Kyle mentioned that don’t actually show the ripple in the face?
No, those just got sent out to people a week and half ago.
How does the Esq-c play compared to the Thrive Azul?
Similar power levels but the Esq is poppier and lighter. The Azul is more forgiving though.
What would be the one you would play if you could only play one for the rest of your days?
If I could only play one for the rest of my days I’d want one that I don’t think would hold me back as I continued to improve. So I’d want something on the more powerful side. Probably the ESQ-C 12.7 or the Joola 3S Scorpeus. Plus I think I have a developed enough soft game that I could manage a power paddle well given it’s the only one I play with and adjust to.
Flare Prime X definitely more pop than the MAC
Maybe weighted up it does but I don’t think it does stock.
The Jojolemon blows all of these away and its half the price
Can you explain what "forgiveness" means in pickleball?
It describes how much energy return you get on mishits or you can think of it as the size of the sweet spot. A paddle with low forgiveness has more dead spots around the edges while a paddle with high forgiveness is more lively around the edges.
@@pickleballeffect Thank you!
I still prefer my CRBN 2x over all of these. Cheers to new Trufoam 2 shape coming soon :)
another great content of the Standard shapes paddles will you revised the Standard shapes content due to the Pulse V and Chorus Fire SX
So what's your go to out of all these?
I personally play the Paddletek ESQ-C 12.7
I’m new to pickleball so I’m just trying to understand: Is the R1 just a Hybrid shape? Cuz you say they’re both elongated, but isn’t a hybrid shape a combination of an elongated paddle with a rounded top? Or am i misunderstanding?
A paddles shape ie elongated, hybrid, and standard are determined by paddle length and not the curvature of the head. An elongated paddle is 16.5” long. Both the R1 and R3 are 16.5” long. A hybrid paddle is 16.25” long.
@ Ahh I see, thanks for that clarification 🙏🏻
Why don't they widen out that SST core? Hitting outside of that vertical sweet spot area probably makes it feel like a different paddle, similar to how the Joola Mod is.
Idk, it seems like they should widen it out a bit to accommodate the shape and give you a more even response across the face. But there is also a lot things we probably don’t know about that went into that decision.
And now with a near Thanksgiving debut is the new Gearbox Pro Ultimate HYPER. Sorry you missed it.
Don't listen to the haters Braydon, UNHOLSTER!! 😂
😂 Thank you! Finally, someone cheering me on. This is what I needed to hear.
I love for the Spartus Apollo?! Love your content PB effect!!! You and pickleball studio my go to videos for PB gear. Thanks.
If 1% increases are ok, then there is no effective limit and eventually we will have 50% greater power. First we need an effective test.
Wait, how did the Pickleball Apes Pulse V not make this list? I've mained elongated paddles for 5+ years coming off the Ronbus R1 Pulsar and R1 Ripple beta. Ordered the Pulse S and the V only b/c of the buzz surrounding that standard/wide body paddle. Figured I'd send both back but loved the V and sold my Ripple. Massive sweet spot, you have to work really hard to miss-hit a ball and the balance is perfect, no perimeter weighting is necessary. A buddy tried my S and bought it from me since I was sticking with the V. Got tired of people wanting to try my V so I bought another, lent it to 3 people and all of them ordered one.
Really nice and detailed review! Great to see all the pockets and storage area.
I purchased currex insoles for my regular Adidas running shoes that I use for outdoor courts VS my Reebok pickleball indoor sneakers and I went from getting water blisters on my toes no nearly never getting foot fatigue or anything after 4-5hrs of playing in the Adidas sneakers --- the Currex insoles although don’t looks super fancy by any means make a HUGE difference in comfort I would personally recommend them once you select all the right measurements for your foot type @dinksmashmedia
They actually just send me and Braydon some insoles
What does this video even mean?
It’s a preview to the full paddle review that you can click through to watch.
Hey Braydon I made the comment about you switching to a control paddle, you played fantastic, I made that comment because I took your advice in the past about control paddles and switched to a Selkirk Lux control and it changed my game. I have an idea about future games you play with Chris. Just edit the videos where you win every game and then claim that anything Chris comes out with is a fabrication. 😂
So I’ve been playing with the crbn trufoam lately and it’s not as poppy as the Paddletek and I’ve been playing pretty good with it ha so maybe you’re right.
What does it mean when a pickleball paddle gets too hot?
Some of the latest paddles that have come out incorporate more foam in the core and sometimes the core can expand or loosen up in a way that makes the paddle hit harder than it was intended to do, but so hard that it’s unfair and sometimes dangerous.
Since you are saying the latest ripple is just a tad more powerful than the OG and PBstudio (both brothers) are saying it is significantly different and has ridiculous power, I think you need to send them yours or you get theirs. You may have uncovered yet another problem - a difference from paddle to paddle which would be very concerning to consumers. We trust you and we trust ChrisO but you guys are talking very differently about your impressions on this one. If they are different and you can quantify it, then what the heck did USAP get to test?
John Cincola one of the best coaches out there for sure
The Beta ripples are too much. Like a mod or slightly less than a gearbox. The production ones will be hotter. It's not good, and playing people with them is getting exhausting.
What about the ronbus pulsar fx r2?
It would fall into the aggressive control area next to the Monarch Jelly Bean.
Yeah, I’m VP of the Pickleball Club here at UTK, and our club has blown up this past year. We decided to make a competitive team this year and it’s been pretty awesome so far
Have you tried the new Gearbox that just went on presale yesterday?
Yes. Out of the box it’s lower power paddle and it plays well but I’m hesitant to recommend it and other gearbox power paddles because of they tend to break in too much and get too hot.
Just purchased 4 Jelly Beans with your code. Thanks for the info.
Algo fuel
another great content which Saga Flash did you prefer the standard length or LH, I just purchased the Saga Flash not LH just the standard handle
Thoughts on the Geuvn Lazr 16s?
I just got that paddle a week or so ago and haven’t hit with it yet but people have been telling me good things about it.
Curious about Technifibre + Six Zero's paddle.
I saw in Pickleball Studio that the new Ripple had a very different sound than the old Ripple, and sounds something strange about it.
There are many good deals on Black Friday.
Pickleball coming to high school is an exciting news.
Thank you for your honesty. I personally love your reviews, and value your unbiased reviews. Keep up the good work.
Nice concept here. It's nice change of pace.
Do you have the first fun of ripples? Heard the updated ripple is much harder to use.
Yes, I have the new ones. The test results I shared were with the new versions.
I’ve tried nearly all these. I’ve played for 8 plus years now exclusively with standard shape and shorter handle paddles. I don’t believe there’s a better paddle in this category than the Gruvn Muvn 16V. So many good choices out there but I think the GRUVN flies under the radar.
Thanks for the comment. I just barely got that one and other gruvns last week. Haven’t tried them out yet but they are on my list and now my interested is even more piqued. What do you like about it over the others you’ve tried?
@ I have tried probably 2 or 3 dozen paddles. I’m a bit of a gear junkie. Same way with golf. I played ping pong rather competitively when younger and lots of doubles in tennis. I gravitated to square shaped paddles early on and my other favorite and current back up is the carbon 2x and I also have a Gruvn 13 mm back up. I love the amazing sweet spot on the 16 Muvn and the spin it creates. The paddle has an excellent blend of power and control.
Great show, yeah sound had some issues but let’s you know that the guys you see are just two passionate pickleballers who provide wholesome and quality info! Technifibre was my favorite tennis brand before I gave up tennis, I cannot wait to see those paddles. So cool to see a French and Aussie collab since Technifibre is owned by Locaste.
I bet that vatic in a 14 mm would be awesome
