I am so hoping they do Soundwave next. Megatron proved how complex Robosen can get with the transformations on these things and a Soundwave that transforms into a working speaker is just too good of an opportunity to pass up.

I have to admit I am slightly disappointed that he doesn’t transform into a gun but to be honest this is infinitely better. Just incredible. I cannot wait to see what they create next!
True, but a tank fits Megatron since it is the alternate mode for most incarnations of the character. Besides, we all knew a Megatron that turns into a gun is never going to happen again due to controversy (as kids would end up getting shot by police if they were stupid enough to have one in public).

for me it's the perfect marriage of G1 and Bayverse (specifically, the tank mode from the second film). truly a figure for everyone.

In this economy the fact it is the same size and the same price as the first Optimus Prime is not lost on me. Actually Megatron is bigger than Optimus. Already pre-ordered! Simply AMAZING! BTW for me as a G1 fan that extended interaction between Megatron and Optimus was beyond cool. The fact we are at this point with technology where these robots can interact with each other like that while still being able to transform and drive around is beyond mind blowing. Wow!

It is not the same price though. Flagship Optimus at pre order was $699. This one is 899 at pre order.

It really feels like Robosen have taken another big step forward with this release, which I didn’t think was going to happen again so soon after Grimlock. Crazy how fast their engineering is evolving.

Great video mate. Really appreciate being able to see all the Robosen characters together in one video. The robotic design on these guys is phenomenal and to see the advancements in technology between Prime and Megatron is quite staggering. Be interesting to see where Robosen are in 10/15 years and the level of robotics they are producing. Boston Dynamics level robotics!

There's a bit of that in this...
That block-based action creator reminds me of two things; my brief dip into game development during a college IT course and the game Autonauts, where you program robots to automate a whole crafting industry.
This looks amazing. And I've definitely no problem with the backpack; if anything it nods to the Armada era a bit. It's actually the fusion cannon rear I had to get used to on the vids, but seeing it here in your video really clarifies the built-in design from tank mode and so cements it as genius in my eyes. If I had the budget this is probably the one I'd most likely plump for at this point. Great vid!

I admit for a “hot second” seeing it was not a fun I was disappointed but glad I finished seeing all your video because you sold me on it, especially the end when you got into the software and the “coding” portion of programming Megatron. I’d get it just for that since I’m a software engineer.

Definitely the best looking tank Megatron in both modes. The purple lights are a nice touch.
Looks great. Robosen Optimus has taken up pretty much the last bit of display space in my flat though, so don't think I'll be making a purchase, no matter how much I'd like one.
One thing jumped out at me though - I wonder why they haven't used the iconic original G1 cartoon fusion cannon sound, despite being able to use all the cartoon music? (I also wondered this with Optimus, they didn't use the very distinctive sounding original Ion blaster sound effect)
Visually, this is leagues above Optimus.
Optimus looked VERY much like the original mechanical concept we saw for all those years, but Megatron here looks like the designers learned how to Gunpla.
It would be awesome if a software patch allowed different Robosen products unique cross interactions, like special lines and actions and responses.
Having the G1 fusion cannon sound is a nice touch.

I on principle of the thing been hating on robosen releases, but this one is like,,,, genuinely impressive! they have definitely been stepping up their game!

Impressive stuff from Robosen as ever...wonder who they'll do next...? Soundwave (preferably with a working interactive cassette deck of sorts) would be cool, as would Starscream (especially if they can figure out how to make one of these things fly safely...!). Personally speaking, though, I think I'd be most excited to see their take on that turbo-revvin' young punk Hot Rod myself, yes...?

I never have the sort of money Robosen toys cost but this is my favourite I've seen and I actually would like a more typical Transformer with the aesthetics. The thing that impressed me right off the bat was the robot fit not being as obvious as most tank-former megs.
I don't mind the backpack and like the cannon except it'd be nice if it could shrink more in robot mode, but I fully understand why not with working parts and lights.
The only bit I am not in love with silhouette wise is the slightly pointy shoulders but then it does reflect the backpack in a pleasant way so I also don't hate it.

These Robosen fig's don't fit my collection, but I still think they're awesome. The head sculpt on Megs is nigh on 💯 perfect

I have optimus from robosen, and I've pre ordered megatron from game digital in UK.
I've said this before but I feel like these guys are going to be amazing in about 10-15 years time. The transformations of Prime etc aren't very dynamic. Megatron is obviously an improvement in that department but once they work out how to properly utilise friction on the feet and how to take advantage of weight, balance and momentum to make a really dynamic transformation these things are going to be mind blowing.
Tbf I think they already are pretty mindblowing - at least that was my reaction to Megatron - but I agree they will continue to improve

The turret lacking rotation in tank mode is a very disappointing compromise for the transformation.

Ok first off, HOLY SHIT THATS AWESOME!!!! Everything about that megatron is amazing, but what really sold me and took it above and beyond is the ability to play out the movie scene. That is mind blowing that that is a feature. Great review, keep up the great work.

Good question - I didn’t cover that! It’s dead easy. The socket is in his backside and he just plugs in and charges pretty quick.
Excellent review! I can't decide if I want to invest in this thing or not. Yes it's neat and has lots of cool features. But over 900 smackers? How well do these things hold up over time?

This is the greatest Transformer I've ever seen. The Details, Color his Eyes. And his Transformation tips it over the Top. Ive Gotta get one now.

Is it weird that, for a split second, I thought it was going to be a G1 Megs? I just had a brief moment of "...now how the hell are they going to pull _that_ off?" Then I saw the image on BlueSky and was like "...Ah! Yeah, of course. Never mind."

It's impressive, but it's not for me; still ultimately an expensive gimmick. I think I'll only truly be impressed* when they work out how to get it walking with a proper humanoid gait, consistently putting one foot in front of the other instead of shuffling along on bent knees.
*but still not enough to want one, much less to actually buy one.

I must admit it was something that took me a minute with Optimus but I honestly didn't think about it with this guy
My one huge concern with these robosen bots is that someday the app will no longer be supported and these guys will become significantly less functional...
That's a fair observation
