Someone below wrote "Optimus Prime lives!" Yes, he always lives. And, relives, and relives, and relives. Or, Bumblebee. Or, Blaster. Or, some version of Megatron that's not a realistic-looking gun. I have two of these reissues, a Hallmark ornament and several other toys called Optimus Prime that are trucks (and one is a Matchbox-style car). And, I know someone will write "well, don't buy it, then, hurrrrr." But, it's just a shame that, in 40 years, Transformers has become a commodity. The neat, new stuff takes 40 steps to change (and are more often than not the same cadre of the same dozen or so characters, as well), and the retro reissues are always Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Soundwave, Starscream, Blaster, yawn. Oh well, I hope those who buy this get enjoyment from it that lasts longer than the brief dopamine hit of forgetting you're middle aged now and not a kid.

In the film the axe does come from his hand and not his wrist, his hand just transforms to hold the orb similar to the deluxe toy. The SS version technically does still have the fingers but it’s just unpainted unfortunately

Every time i noticed someone post an Optimus Prime review, I will ask "How many Optimus Prime is enough?" Aren't you sick of it? Collectors are being slapped left, right and centre almost every year.

Wish they were bigger 🙄. I haven't bought them yet, I've been grabbing them and then putting them back because they have a big price for the size. 😒. Movie was awesome though!

IF the Studio Series toy came with the rifle, I’d say I’d prefer that one. As they both only have the axe, I’d just go with the deluxe toy because of the colors.

Just a personal theory.... I feel like maybe they thought the muted colors on the SS version would appeal to a "mature" audience, while the mainline's brighter colors would appeal to kids? Not really sure, but I will say I like both versions for their differences.

When Hasbro Pulse revealed the SS version they mentioned the colors were because they adapted the colors from the studio notes. Having now seen the movie he's not that color. Must've been something that was changed.

Both are actually pretty cool but it seems the Takara version was a little better figure although that one has some loose joint issues but nothing that a little nail polish can't fix. Hopefully I can get the Deluxe version.

I think that the concept art for Prime probably had him in the sunlight, which is why the Studio series designer interpreted it as being that colour.

I’ll be honest, even though the colours aren’t as nice as the mainline, I’ll probably be getting the studio series. I want to try and collect all the TF One figures, and I don’t want to end up with an Elita and Megatron that tower over the rest of my set.

Having seen the movie, I get the feeling that the studio series design was based off some very specific scenes where lighting made him look more yellow-y/gold.

the deluxe figure is orion before it gets the matrix , the studio series optimus is after it gets the matrix in the movie so you tecnicaly needs both . 😁

For $20, this one is hard to beat. Great little desk Optimus

I would say doing the Energon Optimus first then do the power flip Optimus as a big finish to the box of figures

1:30 Studio Series is like the DolbyVision version, while Main Line is SDR. 😉

The main deluxe is more accurate than the studio series, let that sink in. That’s why I think Studio series should be done after the movie is released and everything finalized, so they can make the accurate non concept art things

I prefer the coloring on the studio series, it looks very premium

I bought the mainline, then saw the Studio Series at a cheaper price. So now I own both. I might repaint the Studio Series figure.

I honestly got my Optimus a couple days ago and damm he’s growing on me a lot tbh As much as I don’t really like Megatron tank mode (I prefer him as a jet ngl and Shockwave as a tank) But still excited to get that bucket head along with my Optimus

Quite unfortunate how the SS Optimus Prime and Megatron weren't Voyagers. Considering how they grow in size after their respective upgrades, I think it would have done wonders for their scale as well...

I think the Studio Series coloring was a complete C@ck Up, and I'm willing to bet you nailed why, I would guess that Optimus had that coloring originally in concept and they changed it after the fact, same for Megatron as well I bet. I remember when I saw the original picture of the studio series unit I said to my wife, "o no, they had to delay the movie and all the toys yellowed while they were sitting around in a warehouse somewhere" and she took one look and was like "yip because theirs no way they would choose that color on purpose" lol, good times.

Ngl I much prefer the mainline one, specifically because of the colours. Mainline has a rich silver while SS has a weird yellow that just looks off, and mainline has a lot nicer axe. I do think mainline should've been Orion Pax cogged, and SS should've been a Voyager Prime, since him being a Deluxe just doesn't really work as he towers over most bots after gaining the Matrix in the movie

I bought a G1 KO Optimus Prime recently, just to have a complete new one, since my old one was really enjoyed and toyed with. 2 days after I ordered it, this got announced… I guess my G1 OP mold is gonna be increasing more than expected
