What do you think to the changing luxury instury and the new 'norms' that I'm seeing? If you're loving Atelier August as much as I am, Use code STEPH10 for 10% off everything: ateliers-auguste.fr/en/collections/sacs-femme *AD
In the pandemic, I saved £25,000 My first plan was to buy luxury bags, but I changed my mind instead I put down a payment on a mortgage for two flats I didn't regret it because I didn't pay my mortgage the rent covered it and I still have extra for the two flat of £700 and I'm saving again to buy another flat in the future. Remember luxury things are not a wise idea they will damage in time and the value is not worthy, buying property is the best and never goes down it goes up and can inherited by your family
I am so disappointed in my Ateliers August’s quality. The glazing on the strap melted and ruined a beautiful top. I live in Florida, and took it with me to Paris. I was at Versailles when it melted. I emailed them and they said “high temperatures” may cause glazing to melt. They offered 15% back. First Paris isn’t even that hot! And I was shocked in the lack of customer service. Roughly $50 back? The bag and too are ruined. Not a good idea for anyone in warm climates.
This is exactly a reason why I never bought any of the brands that are heavily promoted by paid influencers, such as Polene, Demelier, Ateliers August etc. They are always presenting them in sponsored videos and most of them never show or wear the item again. And if one puts a little effort and find real people reviews, one can see that there are a lot of quality issues for all of them. I also learned my lesson in a hard way, the only thing that I bought after being influenced was a Lilysilk blouse that got a 10cm long hole on my arm after only 2 wears. Never again.
Thank you for sharing! These brands look so appealing for their repeatedly "good quality" advertising by Influencers it makes me very skeptical. Certainly not touching any
I just received a Mini Marly without the hooks for the strap. They are just the usual hooks for the handle. The clasp is the round magnetic one, different from the product picture. Previously I had ordered the Alma which was disappointing too. The inner pocket leather has scuffs and the bag felt lightweight which is hardly quiet luxury. The inner flap leather came off probably due to contact with the rim of the bag when closed. Purchase with cautious.
I am from San Francisco and I see like 3-5 Hermés quota bags a year in the wild, but when I was in London a few weeks ago I was SHOCKED at how many Birkins I saw just walking around like 10 a day! But I also think it might have to do with the proximity and ease of which it takes to get to Paris for London?
You're a born teacher, Steph. 🧐 We all get to partake. 🎉 I so welcome the rise of quality contemporary brands & trustworthy pre-loved. Scary story - I'm so glad you got your money back. 🌻
Hi Steph super as always xx Hattie Jefferies played so many people My father had just died so I was in mourning Hattie jumped on that weakness Till I parted with £4785 So yes she has my dead fathers money I’m still waiting on the medium black Chanel Total scammer I think she scammed 150k plus Swooped In on the luxury handbag market took all she could played a sweet im so nice trusting person I believe she planned it all You were so lucky to get your money back 🙏 To this day she has just got away with it Unreal xx Really thanks for sharing x
As always, you are my go to content creator and my all time fave! This was such a terrific and informative vlog Steph! I was influenced by you to purchase my Celine 16 as I trust your judgment wholeheartedly. The one thing I know for sure is that before you buy, you have researched the bag to the nth degree. I am all about quality and craftsmanship and the next bag I have my eye on and will pull the trigger soon is one from Joseph Duclos. I can’t decide between two bags but I am obsessed with the Heritage leather. I’m going to wait to purchase the bag until after your Paris trip to see what your thoughts are when you view the bags in person. I hope you take a lot of footage. Thank you for your sincerity and honesty! ♥️
I wonder if resellers check if their items are stolen seeing a lot of luxury stores get mobbed. My thought is they do it because of course of any money they can get out of it. I don’t have a lot of disposable money but I would rather buy directly at the luxury store and get the full on experience and know for sure I don’t add to this growing problem of getting it cheaper and not knowing where it came from.
The new bag is gorgeous. What a yummy colour! ❤ I don't see many designer bags since I moved up north apart from LV really, but when I lived in London it was very common to spot Dior, Chanel, Hermes etc. I feel alittle awkward using my bags in certain settings that in London I never thought twice about, like dinners and shopping trips.
Glad you like! I totally know what you mean, it definitely is a different vibe for anything luxury up north. Much more common to see in London I don’t see much Hermes outside of london
What you are saying are all correct! I only want the classic pieces or limited edition in each fashion house. Not into the trend. Also, I love Cuyana bags which is considered quite luxury. I also notice scams but I think we’ve come a long way.
The prices on the luxury brands today doesnt match the quality. I can honestly say Coach is just as quality made than my luxury bags. Also any brand that gifts free bags to creators I stay away from. Coach stands by their quality and doesnt gift free bags to creators to try to get subs to rant and rave over. The vintage Coach bags are Hermes quality to this day give those bags a try I promise you wont regret ;)
I agree yes Birkins are everywhere nowadays. No longer feel special after the entire process of getting one. Look at the number of resellers today! Many are also stuck with tons of Birkin Kelly. Many ppl buy to resell for the value. Curious how many ppl really really like the designs
I'm done with resellers after the last two experiences. It was fun as first but now I'm finding poor quality items at high prices and unresponsive service. As for buying from the boutiques, Louis Vuitton stand out for customer service across all of the stores that I shopped in this year. Hermes can play all the games they want if they can find customers to play with. As for Chanel, I love my classic bags and have not recently seen any bag that I like, so I will just have to be patient.
Thanks for sharing. Yeah I do agree that some of them price way too high for the quality. I just appreciate its ‘safer’ with them being companies. Yes I also have had good service from LV this year.
I have 4 Little Liffner bags. 2 of them are from the Filippa K collab, and the quality is amazing. Buttery soft leather, great finish and super durable. Hardware good but not amazing. The other two are the mini totes - also good quality, but the leather is not superior and seems a bit more plasticky. Bought another mini tote on sale, but had to return it due to a hole in the leather and weak stitching. The leather was pathetically thin, so guessing they went the same way as a lot of other brands - establish an image with great quality and once achieved, lower the production costs and quality. It might have been an unlucky buy only, but it made me lose interest in the brand.
I do appreciate a zip closure (an absolute must on an everyday bag), I wish more brands considered this. However, the colours of this AA bag aren't for me, navy or even red would be so much better for me. As for seeing everyone wearing the same thing - I do see a little bit of LV, Gucci, and Mulberry, but I do live in a provincial danish town. But I do see variety even in more affordable brands. I've never seen anyone else irl in my beloved Loewe puzzle.
I’m also pleased that the preloved market is becoming more regulated. It’s not just the scams, it’s the mis-selling of goods. For example. I was once in a private mulberry forum for buying and selling as well as chat. I bought a preloved chocolate Bayswater allegedly from a member ms personal collection (also called Steph funnily enough. If this Steph is out there, you are disingenuous!). After a few weeks it became clear that she had ‘titivated’ the corners with shoe polish and they were really badly worn. The bag should have been described and priced as such. When I came to sell it I was honest about its condition so I made a sizeable loss. At the time I let it pass. These days I would call it out.
You’ll love it because I already have 4 of their bags and I’m waiting on the mini Marley in black to come back in stock. I been on the waiting list for months now. I have the same one as you.
Hey Steph! I just received the email that it was available and order it with your discount code. Thank you so much!!! I have the mini and regular size Monceau. I have the regular size Sully, the biscuit color bumbag, the Mini Tan Marley, and my mini black Marley is on the way now. ❤❤❤. I just love the simple bags and how it wears all their bags are so comfortable
Come on ladies! This is leather not gold that you’re paying thousands & thousands of dollars for. I predict years from now you will be saying to yourself, “ What was I thinking!”
Hi Steph. Thanks for the informative video. Which of these bags would you recommend since you have both of them. Atelier Auguste or the DeMellier. I'm going to Paris and London next week and one of those bags are on my wishlist but can't decide on which one to get.
Oh wow that’s a hard choice. For looks the DeMellier Vancouver is my fave but the marly bag from Aterlier is an easier to use bag and wider so I use that more for everyday.
Hiya Steph, I recently bought a bag from Polene, another contemporary Parisian brand. Would you consider trying a bag from them? I bought the Cyme mini in caramel, but I could see you with a Numero Sept bag ☺This was my first luxury bag purchase so I love it, personally, luxury is any money spent that is equal or worth more than a few weeks of food shopping. I don't have a large salary so it's important I think about what I spend my savings on, especially with the cost of living. 💕 Thanks for sharing your experience with the scammer too!
I feel like Hermes is the silliest trend ever .. if I have the $ and want something then luxury IMHO ( to me ) is to get whatever I want when I want it. Hermes act like they’re a bootcamp and it’s their job to teach someome that we don’t always get what we want .. which makes me not want it ! Also they’re not that cute , just bags
I buy pre loved all the time as I cannot afford new and let me tell you that you also have to be very careful. A couple of months ago it happened to me with Vestiaire Collective which seems to be very well established. I bought a Dior bag from them in 2019 and wanted to sell it this year. It was original, I look into all the tale tell details. But when I put it back on sale, they said it was a fake. So long story short you always always have to be very careful even buying from established websites, because they also have employees that cannot figure out fake from original. Mine was original and they finally knowledge it but it was an awful situation. Be very very careful, know the details that make you favorite bags original, aside from series number, learn and protect yourself. Handbagholic is a great way to learn
I’m hating how others brands are doing the same thing as Hermes they just need to make you buy their other items just to have purse that looks like blackmail to me and is not fair
Agree with the whole video. You can see so many Birkin bags in London that makes them look no longer exclusive. Also seeing some tacky celebrities with them, makes them loose the elegance they are supposed to have.
Hattie Jefferies , company called The Designer Secret, yeh the big Designer Secret was she was a scammer !!! She stole nearly 3K from me …. and she’s now selling again I believe ! Shameful women 😡 beware ladies !
Steph, I loved and appreciated this video! I too see a drastic change in the luxury market which is a huge plus for the preloved market I must say!! I have a nice collection and often share some of your feelings with the exception that I think I may have reached purse peace in that I love all the pieces I have and I yearn to wear them seasonally!! I miss them. If there were too many, I would not experience this. So I have begun to look at preloved since I have no plans of paying $6k for an LV or heading to the insane land of Hermes. I just cannot see it for a handbag. I do not get the allure. Not to say I don't like to look at them but I see people buying them just for the sake of buying when the two most popular styles aren't ones I see them use. But each to his own. People think I'm crazy lol. So I am toying with yet another black bag from LV that actually sold in 2019 for over $4k and now can be had for $2 in Excellent condition. I have no idea why I never heard about the bag which just goes to show. These are odd times that are driven by trends. I tend to not be trendy at this point but to have a usable bag, unlike the Capucines that I simply could not keep. I thank you for unveling contemporary bag makers to us as I've tried some you have suggested and love them! If you can get a nice leather handbag for under $600, that is fabulous!! I shall try this one. I do love the profile. Steph, I'm sorry to hear what happened to you because I have had some great experiences on Facebook Marketplace and lately people want to pay by Venmo or CashApp and I have gotten some great deals by gals selling off their collections. I do love the imbedded bag info now used by LV because it helps. You can scan it and save it. I'm so sorry you had a bad experience but it tells me bad people are everywhere! I guess you really need to check out the seller. I'm just glad you got your money and sad for those who did not. Have a great day! As for bag wearing, I used to want people to know my bag and now, I'm pleased when they ask what it is!
Is it Ebi Kas in the UK that was in your story? She seems very tricky. I bought a Chanel item and transferred in full. When I sold one item, she has many reasons to delay payment and eventually paid in several instalments after many chases. She controls her fb group and always send voice messages. I blocked her off totally.
She isn’t referring to Ebi. I’ve only had positive experiences with Ebi. I also almost purchased from the unnamed lady she referred to but as it was bank transfer only I decided against it. Everyone told me she was trusted but I knew I couldn’t afford to buy another dream bag if scammed so I didn’t move ahead with purchase. The lady she refers to is no longer in business or so I thought 😢 The rise of safe places to buy preloved is something that took too long but I’m so glad there are safe places and this is always evolving
I'm afraid I do not trust ebay anymore, even for the cheapest stuff. I was scammed on a perfume through ebay just last year. It wasn't even cheap. I never got my money back since we can't even contact ebay anymore other than a chat with public, which is pretty scary. I heard about their authentication and that's what the website said when I bought mine too. But obviously is was all a lie. Since then ebay is never a option for me. It's disappointing. But Handbag clinic is an option for bags for me.
If you think about the " investment" value of the handbag, I would say now is the time to sell off. The brands are pricing themselves out to grab as much as they can before selling out or leaving the empire. Arnault is going to leave lv soon, Chanel might sell the company, Gucci is without a clear new path in their design, environmental issues and veganism is on the rise. Maybe leather would be looked at as fur in the next 20-30 years. In the stock market it is best to be greedy while other are fearful, I guess this could be applied to the handbags too, so now is perhaps the best time ever to sell.
Sending someone cash for goods as friends ..transfers...etc.. that u don't know is crazy ..I see this over and over again on groups ...then they go crying the blues....makes no sense

I usually never seen my LV limited edition bags out and about so yes, buy those bags rather than ones that are flooding the market.
Yes then you get the benefit of a good bag but don’t see it everywhere
The new bag is gorgeous. That mini Marly bag reminds me of the Celine belt bag. Same shape and similar look, but this one has the nice gold hardware at the front.
Ah yes you’re right it does have a similar shape. I am very impressed with the hardware and how smooth / effortless it is.
First thing I thought when Steph unboxed it. The Atelier is nice but I have the grey celine belt bag and I prefer how low key it is.

Have you glanced upon Little liffner, its not out there too but the leather is 🔥. Everytime i wear mine i get the looks too, its great…
I have 4 Little Liffner bags. 2 of them are from the Filippa K collab, and the quality is amazing. Buttery soft leather, great finish and super durable. Hardware good but not amazing. Hi Steph!
Have you seen the new Mulberry bags ’Lana’ and ’Pimlico’? Any chance you will make a review?
I do appreciate a zip closure (an absolute must on an everyday bag), I wish more brands considered this. However, the colours of this AA bag aren't for me, navy or even red would be so much better for me.
As for seeing everyone wearing the same thing - I do see a little bit of LV, Gucci, and Mulberry, but I do live in a provincial danish town. But I do see variety even in more affordable brands. I've never seen anyone else irl in my beloved Loewe puzzle.
I am very interested in that Marly bag, but I need a back pocket and pebbled leather! (Not a fan of box leather) ❤❤

Not Ebi, but I do agree with you.
The lady she refers to is no longer in business or so I thought 😢
The rise of safe places to buy preloved is something that took too long but I’m so glad there are safe places and this is always evolving
Do you insure your bags ?
Yes they are insured
Sending someone cash for goods as friends ..transfers...etc.. that u don't know is crazy ..I see this over and over again on groups ...then they go crying the blues....makes no sense
You are probably seeing a lot of fake Chanel and Hermes bags too these days I. London and everywhere.
The Discount doesnt woek anymore :(
You should tell us who she is so she doesn’t scam others.
What do you have from Mulberry
Currently I have two mini Alexa bags and the small softie. How about you?
@@Handbagholic I want the Bayswater bag
The Marley bag is sold out in all colours. Pointless promotion as we can’t buy it!
Luxury should mean good quality and whatever makes u happy thats it. Birkin mom is the most stupid thing ever invented in my opinion though
This brand has some similar feature to DeMellier. The big metal hardware that I find it hard to fall in love with.
You should link up and make a youtube video with SOPHIE SHOHET. you two are soooo similar
Yes I’ve met Sophie she’s lovely! 💖
Who was this woman who scammed you?
❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹
