You're a big old smarty-pants. For a moment, I thought this wasn't going to turn out, and then BOOM, a happy little tree appears, bringing the hillside to life.❤
I find that many paintings go through an “ugly” middle stage - the main thing is not to give up on them too early 😀 And trees make everything better 💚 Thank you for watching!
It was relaxing to watch and I loved the music and the picture it beautiful, you made it look so easy. It was great to watch at this time when I'm so stressed and overwhelmed with all the crap stuff going on in my life , I don't have time to paint. 😢
I am so sorry you are going through hard times in your life… I hope things improve and you get the energy to be creative again ✨ Sending positive thoughts your way!
Love this. Very beautiful! I’d love to know what the actual pigments/paints are. I’m getting maybe Jane’s Grey or a Payne’s Grey… Maybe Green Apatite? It has a similar hue & texture & dispersive property to the green at the start… My only doubt comes from how controllable it seems to have been, because IME Green Apatite can border on the dispersiveness of a Nickel Azo Yellow, Pipestone, or a Lunar Black- pigments that can really just expand explosively & displace anything else within a wet wash unless they’re added first, or wet-into-dry, though maybe that varies from one brand/formulation to another… Perhaps a Red Iron Oxide, MAYBE Burnt Sienna (though the red early on looks too neutral & dark to be most Burnt Siennas I’ve seen)… The latter one looks more like a Transparent Red Iron Oxide or maybe even some kind of Quinacridone Burnt Orange (RIP)/Quinacridone Burnt Scarlet… And for the yellow I’d guess Raw Sienna or maybe a Naples Yellow? But it would be cool to find out for sure, because whatever they are, they really played nicely together!
Thank you so much! You have an amazing knowledge of pigments! I used Payne's Grey first, by Rockwell Canada - it "shoots" in all directions in the wet wash, and I love this effect. Another Payne's Grey that I know does it is by Art Spectrum (an Australian brand). The green I used here was a mix of Olive Green by Daniel Smith and Green Gold by Michael Harding. I used Quinacridone Sienna by Daniel Smith for the tree foliage. I am not sure about the warm browns in the foreground but I think it was a mix of Burnt Umber and Quinacridone Sienna, and the yellow was Raw Sienna Light I think...
It is such joy watching the paints mix on paper 😊 It is one of my most favourite things about watercolour. Thank you, and have fun with your watercolours!
Thank you for watching! The brushes with grey handles are synthetic squirrel mops by NEEF, an Australian brand. Thinner brushes are a selection of synthetic liners and riggers by Princeton and Dynasty.
Thank you so much! Art is so healing, both making it and looking at it... Our lives are so much richer thanks to art, I cannot imagine the world without it!
Just discovered your art and so absolutely refreshing. Colours are just so harmonious ... do you stick mainly to colours in your palette? I have so much difficulty in finalising a palette with so many colours available and wanting to attempt spontaneous landscapes 😢
Thank you for your lovely comment! We do have so many options these days when it comes to colour. I have around 50 or so different colours in my "collection" of paints, but some of them I use only rarely, and I would say that only around 20 colours are the ones I use all the time, and every now and then they change too. I love discovering new colours, and I add a couple of new ones to my palette every six months or so (I get overwhelmed if I buy new colours more often). The secret is to use a limited number of colours in a painting, but it is perfectly ok to own many different ones! When I started diving deeper into colour theory, I found that it became easier for me to choose colours for a spontaneous painting as I had finally figured out why some colours worked together and some didn't.
Gorgeous colors, gorgeous scene. Two questions: 1) How long did this take you to paint in real time? 2) Did you use a reference, or did the entire scene come from your imagination?
Thank you for watching and for your kind words! I can't remember how long it took me exactly but probably around 15-20 minutes. I paint from my imagination most of the time so this one was imagined too. I find it hard using reference photos as I feel restricted by them, I only use them if I need to draw a certain shape, like a known landmark...
Thank you! It has taken me years and years - I've been painting on and off my whole life, but I started doing it more regularly and seriously around five or so years ago.
I appreciate how organically you built the layers. It feels like a history in time of the evolution of mother earth.
What a beautiful comment! Thank you so much 😊🧡

ماهو نوع الخامه التي ترسم عليها هل هي كانفس ام ورق مقوى؟؟
It’s 100% cotton paper, cold press. It’s a block of paper - 20 sheets of it stacked and glued on the sides.
