Followed this like a breeze, So happy to finally be able to turn my screen :D thank you for this great step by step tutorial.
Great great great video! You did an amazing job with showing everything step by step and I really appreciate the detail and clarity of everything you did, you rock!
Man this looks awesome. Now I just need to get a. Model 3 lol. Thanks for the upload this looks super high-end.
do it! :)
You should. It was the best decision I made. I ❤️my model 3 TESLA
This is a knock off from a youtuber techforum that developed it before anyone else. its shameful you are sponsoring a knock off from a fellow tesla yutuber who put the effort and his money to develop it and now abstract ocean is doing a knock off and you are sponsoring it for pennies kickback w referral very questionable and blocking your content.
Hopefully cybertruck has this built in or i am definitely buying this
Why not install the original product made by Matt @ Tech Forum? He has multiple versions now, including one that tilts as well as rotates. This is a knock-off product.
I wonder if Matt has watched this. Total rip-off! @techforum
If Matt wants to stay in business, he’ll start selling ones made in China too so he can compete. He needs to ditch that makeshift fabric cover too. Did you notice? Tesla “ripped him off” too? The new Model S screen swivels. Anyway you can’t even patent an idea (the idea of a swiveling screen mount). Patents are only awarded to specific designs, not a basic idea.
Abstract Ocean improved on the swivel mount. What keep me from buying from Matt was the unfinished look and the shroud cover. I will buy this one.
@@jeffbransky6499 Matt literally patented his design with the tilt.
@@GregHassler Someone else can create a new design that swivels and get around the patent. Like I said, you can only patent a design, not the idea or concept of swiveling/tilting. Have you ever noticed there’s more than one brand of smartphone on the market? The basic idea is not protected by a patent. What can be patented is how you create a smartphone.
What about voiding Tesla warranty? And crash-safety?
Hey, thanks to your video, I just finished installing my rotating screen. It made the process went smoothly until I have to turn the screen back on lol. The screen went black and I can't do anything about it until I remember to reset the screen and it turn back on. Whew that was a close call. Thanks anyway.
Thanks brother… worked perfect
Done. Just got confused on one step. I do like it very much. Very stable
Thanks you! I did this today
Hope you love it!
i love it!@@TeslaInventory
Wow that price.
And the piece that covers everything up is a different color than what was there prior.
What is the price? It's out of stock on the site, and doesn't show a price.
@@nazzarenopisano652 wondering about the price as well :/
Whats the price that you saw?
@@nazzarenopisano652 200
Great video Erik!
Rip off of Matt’s product
Daerik, didn’t Matt of @TechForum come up with that more than a year ago for the Model 3?
Yeah, this is definitely NOT a "new" product, but it does look like it's engineered a bit differently. They stole the idea, but not the actual design.
Yeah but his does not have the OEM look. He has a fabric wrap thing that covers the mechanism which I don’t like at all.
@@jeffbransky6499 As if you could actually see any of that from the seats. You have to be under or behind it to see it. It's easy to shove a camera in to see it, but not so easy to put your eyes there.
Not that that has any relevance to the original comment, the point of which is that this is a long, long way from being a "new" idea, and they are both making a killing and not giving any credit.
Much like EVAnnex stole the idea of the original spring actuated automatic trunk and frunk as soon as they heard about it and didn't even bother to disguise the shadiness with different parts.
I haven't bought anything from EVAnnex since, and even though Abstract Ocean is using a completely different unit, it still lowers my opinion of them a bit. I'm already annoyed by their complete lack of love for the Model S. They have fewer products for the Model S all the time, even before the refresh was announced. Fob covers and screen protectors aren't exactly the peak of functional accessories or upgrades.
@@jeffbransky6499they stole his design, that's what China does. However if you look around you can get this much cheaper, I got mine for 89$. Admittedly Matt's aluminum is a lot better quality though., but yes there is only a fabric wrap
@@jasons7044 So the one you bought stole his design too. No problem, I guess.
A very good video. Thank you so much for the video. 10 stars 👍. It took me a little bit longer than the video 😂 but your explanations step by step was worth 100 points of 100!!
Thanks mate. Great succinct video. If anything you made the body contortion look easy while they were the most challenging part :-).
You have the coolest Model Y!
The shrouds do make this look more finished and OEM, but the one that came on the market over a year ago (i1Tesla demonstrated it) adjusts up and down as well.
I like Abstract Ocean's products, but this is a total rip-off of Tech Forum's excellent mount.
exact same part from Aliexpress around $75
I like the solution and the product. But i Wonder how it will influence warranty on Infotainment related issues?
Purchased same product from Tesmanian (mistake) only came with M3 temp sensor cover, bummer! If anyone doesn't need their "extra" Model Y sensor cover, will buy from them. Right now I'm coverless and sad because of NOJOY with Tesmanian customer service.
Pre refresh models!!, because the screen sits lower the charger door is gonna slap the bottom of it on every bump. Very annoying. I also put some plastic wire loom on my wires just as a extra precaution. Those wires were never ment to be moved repeatedly
this should be a $40 part...
Going to wait till Taptes copies this for half the price.
Супер идея👏
Merci beaucoup ! 😉
Great video! Since you guys are always up for trying things, if you guys can get your hands on an AMD chip and try to do a swap that would be insane
Doesn’t this affect the car’s warranty??
If you uninstall it before getting the car serviced no. Since it doesn't interact with the car's software, Tesla has no way of knowing it was ever there.
That being said, I doubt Tesla would make a stink about it as long as you aren't going to show up to that same service center with screen issues. But even so, they would have to prove that the modification caused the issues.
Does it tilt up & down ?
@@JetFire9 it’s just a question homie
@mkcinc23 it's doesn't tilt up or down.
Matt @ Tech Forum has a mount that tilts & rotates now.
Would you still recommend this ?
Minute 1:31 you are holding a black plastic piece with ur right hand. Where does this piece belong to? I built the mount in following ur guidance but this piece was left over at the end which kind of freaks me out... Hope u can clarify this?
Does this void warranty?
what is the small black cable? 5.50, please.
Is there a notch or anything that allows the user to know when the screen is centered?
Is your dash matte carbon fiber?
Did you have to turn off the screen in any way first?
Good question I would think you would have to power off the car first.
Was anybody able to actually use the cover with the tape that goes on the back of the screen? The mount sticks out a bit so it does not go on
Really great instructional video Eric. I bought the identical unit from Amazon. Your video was my constant companion while installing. Thank you!!
It looks like the screen sits lower. Having an older Model 3, (2018), does this screen prevent the upper door on the phone charger lid from opening and closing? Enjoy your videos
Just got this, and great walk through, but it's missing the air sensors black screws. Can I use the torx screws that are originally there? Thanks in advance
Excellent how to video, thank you!
I'll stick with techforums for build quality. This wish product is known to pinch the cable and part of the screen gets blocked by the wheel.
Great Video and install! You always get the coolest stuff!👍🏽😂
Hi I’m new
My screen cable isn't coming out of the clip after the first install :(
“Go ahead and…”
I tried this and broke my screen. Car still works fine. The swivel is great. But the screen doesn’t come on.
Guessing I damaged the cable when unplugging it 😔
Turns out the model 3 has a ‘solid state fuse’. After about and hour it will reset if it was tripped.
Sure enough, I just went and checked it and it’s working fine. So if this happens to anyone else, don’t panic, hopefully yours will be fine just like mine was.
Hey James +1 my screen down and waiting now
@@alby0307 how did you go? Everything working now?
So pissed. After attaching screen, found out the joint was too loose. Time to undo it all and tighten the joint. Urgh.
Looks like a rip-off of Matt Schumaker's product (tech forum). Sad.
I responded the same!
Literally every after market mod. Cry more
Hi. The carbon fiber cover for the wood trim. I have a new model with wood at doors too. Do you have covers for that new model 3 ?
@teslainventory Erik... so, you've had a couple of months to use the swivel thing on your car... what do you think so far? Did you see this one from the frugal guy?
Is the swivel thing still worth it? Im considering it.
is the display then lower or is it the same height as before?
Does this unit lower the screen a little bit like Matt’s does? I like the look of a lowered screen. The OEM sticks up too much IMHO. (Just a visual thing; the way it integrates with the dash)
Screen is lowered by 1.5"
I think the slightly lowered position is perfect.
Does the black mount rotate in your hand before mounting? I expected it would but mine doesn't budge.
Quick question if I may. How did you change the upper interior from stock beige to all black?
It’s called a headliner, I want black as well 😂
Nice Tutorial video putting that swivel kit on your Tesla but my question is when you put that is your Tesla the warranty can be voided or not??
Would you think it voids the warranty on a "lets say new Ford Falcon" if you put a new stereo in? I guess that would answer the question.
@@cicolobbert6788 As long as that aftermarket stereo is plug and play you'll be good. But splice 1 wire and it's over.
Does installing this void any kind of warranty?
No. It's completely reversible as well.
Different question: Is it possible to install a radar into a new model 3/Y? (I found a new Tesla Continental radar sensor on eBay for $95 new.)
No. Radar is turned off through software
@@parkerhenry Do you know this for a fact? Are all Model Ys and 3s now limited to 75 MPH when auto-steer is enabled? Or are there now two versions of the software?
@@BitJam 2 versions of the software
@Daerik Would you say the black mounting bracket has such a tight swivel that it is impossible to rotate with your bare hands before it is installed? I’m asking because I have one I can’t rotate which I hesitate to install for fear of damaging the screen after installation. BTW Great installation video.
Yes, you must install screen before you can rotate. I panicked at the same time, but with screen installed it still doesn’t turn easily but that’s needed to keep it in place.
“Go ahead… go ahead… go ahead… go ahead…” That phrase never, ever, ever, needs to be said. Ever.
Great video! QQ did you notice if the screen height lowered? I saw this other person install this on a Model 3 and he said the door where the charger is was obstructed. I know you installed it on your Model Y but do you think it will be an issue on the Model 3?
I have this question also. I read the screen ends up about 1.5" lower.
@@jmattos yes I heard that as well.
Would like to hear what Tesla says when you come with a 4 year old car with warranty, when stuff like this has been done to the car. Good luck getting any faults with the screen covered with this.
ebay got them for 120
Does the MS/X screen tilt? I thought it was fixed (at least on the ones at the Delivery Event)....
They can, a software update coming later will enable the feature on the MS/X.
Are you driving a car or watching the tablet?
Electric cars should be more customizable like Android phones.
I bought this and never got any tools with it.
From Abstract Ocean?
@@TeslaInventory no.
Then wouldn't Tesla be a knock-off of the first electric car built in the 19th century?
You said “Go ahead” 72 times….
That looks so sweet and I really want it for my car but for $260, that's too much..
221 after discount.
Its a 45$ product
Too expensive anything cheaper
To bad they are all sold out👍🏼👎🏼
I don't have a model 3 but I bet I can replicate that product on a 3d printer. Making it cheaper.
Does it tilt up and down ?
