- Is time limited shopping worth it ?
I have a short lunch break, I have HMV the other side of town. Can I make it there and back for a little Blu ray hunt ? I want that physical media and I want to support high street stores… let’s see if we can add some Blu ray.
Do you shop on the high street or prefer to order online ? Have you picked up anything this week ?

I watched *Abigail* for the first time this afternoon and recommend it. If you think you're going to like it based on the description I think you will; tied together with another title to use an HMV 20% off code so £11.99 and well worth it (though I will have to figure in the price of replacing the double eco-case!).
Glad you, and some, can manage it in 45 minutes at lunch. When I was working on our site nearer town and often walked in I could have done so but now it's a train journey plus I have health mobility problems it's a no-go - I can't even get to the shops '5 minutes walk away' because it takes me a painful 10-15 minutes each way and I need a rest before I can actually walk around the shop!
Nice work picking up *X* and *Pearl* at such great prices; I'm surprised you could get away with reducing _both_ of them with _one_ other purchase rather than needing one for each but good to know that's how it works.
Mate, that sucks that you can’t easily access these places and have mobility issues. Hope you’re not completely cut off from getting around.
Glad you still have the option for online purchasing though, keeps you up to date with the newer movies.
One thing with the HMV ‘with any other purchase’ offer. You can get as many of those on that offer as you want. As long as you have just one ‘other’ purchase !
A fellow Nottingham collector! - I've not been to it yet, but they re-opened a new Fopp on town! Was always my first port of call for good deals and browsing!
@@SamDavies94 yes 🙌🏼 I saw that Fopp was back. Do want to make sure to get a visit in there soon. If I’d have had more time I may have visited there too. Used to love Fopp, glad it’s back… again ! 3rd location by my count now.
Go is a great film! I'm jealous the UK has the blu-ray in print. I couldn’t find it here in the states and had to settle for the DVD.
@@texturedpavement it’s only recently that it’s been in print again. Think it was some point this year. Previous to that it was pretty difficult to find at a good price.
When I watched back the video there were a few other older movies I love that I wish I’d have pointed out.
Plans minor excursion to hunt blu rays
*unexpected travel delays and you return super late*
Boss: your'e fired
Phill: totally worth it, my movies will keep me warm😂
@@RidleyCinema haha. Luckily my boss gives a little more flexibility
Should’ve gone to the chippy mate. Because… well it’s a chippy.
@@qasimmir7117 if I had the time I’d have done both.
Indulging in your hobby in between the daily grind of work is definitely a good thing 👌
A 45 minute lunch break just isn’t long enough for anyone.
I used to work 12 hour day & night shifts and only got a 1 hour break. . Not good at all.
You’re lucky you can get out for lunch.
Not many people can.
@@dazdaz105 definitely not long enough.
The past few years I made the decision that during lunch break I was not to stay at my desk and use the time to just escape and clear my head.
I used to be at the point I wouldn’t leave the desk, I’d break for food but end up just sat at the same screen just browsing online instead. It was a bad habit. Now, I massively appreciate the break from that screen.
I now push at others to make sure they get a decent break themselves, far too many will just stay static and wear themselves down with it.
Monkey man was brilliant
@@ryantaylor1582 really looking forward to it. I will pick it up at some point. Just want to make sure I have to opportunity to watch before I pay the full price.
Love it. Saw it twice in theatres and got the dvd
@@hvitekristesdod you’re building my hype to see it !
I just have been buying dvds from a chairtey shop they are not bad prices😅😅😅😅
@@johnmuff1348 you can grab some great prices in the charity shops. When I have a little more time I might try to do a charity shop hunt and see if I can find anything for that.
Hi Phill, you managed to squeeze a lot into your lunch break 👌 it helps if you know exactly what you want before you go in, plus it cuts back on the impulse buying too 😬 very informative, I love your editing style mate, take care👍😃👍
Thanks Alan,
I had a fair sweat on when I got back to my desk. I don’t think I would have had a worthwhile trip without an advance plan for what I wanted. If I had the spending head on then I’d have probably picked up Monkey Man and Abigail.
How fortunate you are to have this 45 minute lunch break to go down to your favorite store(HMV) to grab your some movie titles(although I like Super Mario bros. The movie which I have on DVD)if it was me and I’d have an almost an hour lunch break and go to that place, I would probably pick up an anime tv / movie on DVD or Bluray or a music CD but that’s just me,anyway looks like you’re having a 💥 blast over there 👉 so have a good time 😊👍❤️
@@lippmb78 the range of Anime doesn’t seem as great in the high street stores at times… or I’m just not looking in the right places.
The kids love super Mario movie. They’ve had it on a few times through my iTunes account. They don’t care about the physical disc.
The 45 mins was a rush but I did get what I wanted.
Same here in the states, since FYE is similar to HMV, there’s everything not only DVDs,Blu-ray’s and 4Ks,you got CDs,Vinyl records,T shirts, posters, comics books, mangas, snacks,etc.,etc.not like it was back then when there was a big selection of movies and music which today there is no big selection anymore which sucks big time ☹️👎!!!
Titles i want that aren't released with a slipcover i wait until they are reduced in cex usually i picked up the Equaliser 3 for £6 recently, if it came with a slippy i would have paid £14.99 for on release day.
@@laurasands8322 I’ve been holding off a lot more recently. I found I was buying far too much and couldn’t often find anything in CEX because I already had what I wanted.
Now, after a few months of reigning in that spending… hoping I can get some bargains in. Both in the sales and from CEX.
I’m not too worried about slips any more. I do like them with but don’t chase for them so much.
Hi Phil. Tell your company you want an hour for dinner.! Enjoyed video, yes I belt into town dinner times.
@@BrianSmith-lj6ug the shorter lunch is self inflicted. I shorten the lunch time to leave a little earlier. I’d love a longer lunch but wouldn’t love the extra time waiting for the next tram 🚊
The meaning of life is filling your time with ways to obtain the movies you wanna buy, sleeping so you're well rested to do the things you need to do to buy those movies, paying the bills so you have a place to watch the movies you will buy, eating food so you can live to see the movies you buy and the kicker......
Wondering when or if at all youll ever have the time to actually watch the movies you bought.
Life is pain😂
@@RidleyCinema stocking up ready for retirement 😂
@@PhillwithadoubleLretirement 😂
God: oh Phill turns 58 soon gotta make shes to pin him in and meet him at the pearly gates, hope he didn't have any important plans😂
88 Films sale started.
@@luisrizo8813 had the email earlier. Had a brief look. Shame the discount doesn’t set in until you got £50 in the cart. Not sure there’s enough I want 😔
@@PhillwithadoubleL decent amount of blind buys; Criterion one ends Sunday; camp Arrow still ongoing.
@@PhillwithadoubleL almost pulled the trigger, but may wait (especially after seeing last months bill).
@@luisrizo8813 I tend to try and stick to wish list purchases as much as possible now. Too easy to get sucked in and carried away with all of the sales.
Great vid 👍 Civil War is a good movie I found it to be a bit like apocalypse now.
Yeah I made use of the online arrow video sale this month picking up a few boxsets.
Probably the weirdest purchase I made this month was a bundle of Laserdiscs including Aliens and the Original Star Wars Trilogy.
ruclips.net/video/Bx0c1mpYP6s/видео.htmlsi=waFrf9UliwIpSiot
This is my review of Civil War.
@@zakwyldeproductions I’ll be checking out Civil War for sure.
I still have a bunch of laser disc. I have the original Star Wars but not the trilogy. Eventually be looking at displaying them.
I’ve avoided the arrow sale this time but tomorrows announcement of Trick r treat is gonna suck me in to another arrow purchase
@@PhillwithadoubleL ooooo awesome 😎
I bought Upgrade a few weeks back from HMV for £9.74. also picked up The Game Trilogy for £11.99 recently as well
@@AlexGreat321 I think Upgrade is a great little flick. Grabbed that one a while back.
Solid price on the game trilogy at the moment, think it’s around the same sorta price direct from Arrow at the moment too.
I didnt like Civil War, its very slow and all the action happens at the films end. There is also limited plot development, plenty of plot holes and a really unsatisfying ending.
@@SecretOfMonkeyIsland784 one of my friends wasn’t enthused by it either.
Will still check it out myself. Sounds a bit of a marmite movie.
@@PhillwithadoubleL Thats wise, i was shocked to see today its got 7.1 on IMDB
The question remains did you have any time left for the actual lunch 😄
I bought an older scottish movie, Filth, and the new Ghostbusters Frozen Empire recently. Filth was so awesome and I thought GB was fine. In my opinion it had some Real Ghostbusters vibes in it, like a cartoon turned into a live action GB.
@@GRORGvideot no, I picked up a flapjack on my way back and scoffed that at my desk to keep me going. Ate like a horse when I got back home though 😂
@@PhillwithadoubleL 8 hours with the power of a energy bar? 😅 I would have died
@@GRORGvideot I made sure I had a breakfast bap pre day job.
Greggs sausage cob / bap / roll (whatever you call it where you’re from) and a coffee… and then the flapjack 😂
@@PhillwithadoubleL I had to google what the Greggs is but I’d say pastry or pasty how it translates from finnish to english language
@@GRORGvideot Greggs is a bakery chain well known for its pastries (especially a sausage roll - sausage meat wrapped in pastry).
The sausage cob is basically sausages in round bread
I’m perhaps over simplifying it… I’d love to be able to post an image on comments to try and help you out on crazy British eating habits.
So was civil war
@@ryantaylor1582 too many movies and too little time. Managing to squeeze time for Deadpool later though.
I picked up Eureka's release of 'Message From Space' on Monday. I've not seen 'Pearl' only 'X' . Is there still a market for DVD's these days?
I’ve not heard of Message from Space, I don’t think. I’ll give it a look up.
DVD still does pretty well and in many cases still outsells Blu Ray and 4k… which always surprises me.
I thought Civil War was mediocre, at best and I was very disappointed with the film, So won't be purchasing
@@GooseyGoose12 glad I held off for now. I’m a little more weary about blind buys for full price new releases.
Drop the silly noises at the beginning, could of been shorter, very childish Phill, grow up.
Which noises Paul ?
