He is talking about God..Malik Al Nas...from Surat Al Nas from the Quran...he recites it at the end too...deep!

So many memorable and intricate bars. The storytelling is exquisite yo. Word to Ankh. Lupe is one of the greatest lyricists imo. I remember bumping him in elementary school ten years ago. I bought a Lupe Fiasco's The Cool CD.

A year late, but Lupe is my goat. His knowledge and how he wraps a message in those lyrics mixed with different literary devices... that's just pure perfection. 🐐

Definitely up there. But there is a huge arguement for others. Nas, Aesop Rock, DOOM, K Rino. There's been some insane rappers.

This is the best diss track ever...
Lupe takes apart the self serving archetype of hotepary that sooo many rappers that I grew up listening to espouse.
....And then he hides the meaning beneath the double speak faking reverence while performing a take down of the highest order...
    Mind blasting!!!!

@@nahtho1238 a very self indulgent apathetic perspective and mind state. It's a unique insight to the dynamics that exist in cerain elements of our culture. A disingenuous friend (even one whom is misguided or misinformed) is much more deadly than an outwardly evil opponent that is the antithesis of everything you might expound. It's songs like this that really elevates Lupe above his peers, as well as most within the music business itself.

"With no control, let her go whole on a baby." (Having sex with no birth control causes a female to get pregnant and be the sole provider for the child. Hence she went "whole" on a baby instead of going "half" on a baby as the phrase when 2 people agree to have a child and raise that child together. Some of these lyrics on the screen are off a little.
