ABOUT THE GOOD PLACE
From creator Michael Schur (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Master of None”) comes a unique comedy about what makes a good person. The show follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell, “House of Lies,” “Veronica Mars”), an ordinary woman who enters the afterlife, and thanks to some kind of error, is sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place (which is definitely where she belongs). While hiding in plain sight from Good Place Architect Michael (Ted Danson - “Cheers,” “CSI” - in an Emmy Award-nominated performance), she’s determined to shed her old way of living and earn her spot.

It’s like her parents were the chainsaw bear, but instead of chopping off her head they chopped off her self-esteem?
Parents can ruin everything. I know case of sibling rivalry based on boy hating sister as she was always shown as perfect example and he was shown at "how worse are you". Point is: They were actually 2 best pupils at school and intellect of both was on level of Mensa (2% of most intelligent people in world). But still for parents there was better one and failure.
Nemo TheEight That’s sad
Yeah! See, it's all about flattening the penises of their hearts
I love that this test works on several levels instead of only one - it makes it feel a lot more like an actual situation Tahani could live. She can enjoy the fact that Kamilah is becoming unpopular, or she can defend her sister. She can try to warn Kamilah about what people are saying, but she can do it out of concern or out of anger at her sister and pleasure at humiliating her. She can say a good speech, out of good intentions or bad ones, or she can say a horrible speech. She can try to take her revenge on her parents, or she can let it go. This works on so many levels and that's why this test allows for personal growth: it's hard and there is no good answer, only the possibility to find out a little more about yourself every time.
Very true
I mean- I thought that the purpose of these tests were to remove the complications though.
Like, I wish we got to see more about what the tests were like.
All we got to see besides this was Brent saying: 'Wait, so you can never tell a woman to smile?'
Like... shouldn't it be you can't tell a Person to smile then? And like... what about when taking a photograph or something?
@@carealoo744 The tests remove the unforeseen complications we can get on Earth. For example, Michael mentions that buying your grandma some flowers in the Middle Ages granted you a bunch of points; but today, the world has become so complicated that buying flowers for your grandma costs you points: the shop you bought the flowers in didn't respect the environment, you used a car to go there instead of walking, etc. You literally can't win in a system like that. Every action of yours will get you to Hell, because in a world like ours it's impossible to avoid the butterfly effect.
In the afterlife, you don't have these global preoccupations. You can be judged on the morality of your actions alone, without the worldwide repercussions (like Chidi's preoccupation that because he ate non-environment-friendly almonds he is a bad person). So, in the example of Tahani, she won't be judged because in this scenario she'll eat chocolate produced through slave labor or something. She'll only be judged according to her own choices.
@@sarahlelys9268 Yeah, I get that, but still.
I've honestly been meaning to start a critique series of Season 4, because I find there are a lot of flaws with it.
We somehow make the sudden jump from: 'Unintented Consequences,' to: 'Maybe people can get better in the afterlife!'
The only way that that jump makes sense, is if we say unintended consequences includes those that corrupt people.
For example, John wouldn't have been so mean if he had it easier on Earth.
And Tahani wouldn't have been so desperate if it weren't for Kamillah and her parents.
Though then again- The test does start with her having the upper-hand.
carealoo744 I mean, yeah, part of unintended consequences is how it effects you. Eleanor canonically grew up to be an “Arizona dirtbag” because she never had a healthy, loving relationship with her parents. Jason never got a chance to be educated.
I don't think Vicky is gonna stab them in the back because she's getting what she always wanted, attention. Michael gave her the whole recognition.
Also, there is only 3 episodes left so theres no time for a plot twist
@@glitterglue5537 On the other hand, there's 3 episodes left, perfect time for a plot twist!
Besides without one, this last episode would have been the finale.
@@JohnSmith-bn5mi good point
@@JohnSmith-bn5mi true
It did seem a bit out of nowhere after a relatively short time putting herself back together
Remember when she was the "real Eleanor"? Funny how it's literally the same actress but somehow it's impossible to see her that way in the later seasons because Vicky has such a strong and defined personality
Because it’s the same character! Vicky, the demon, was playing the “Real” Elenor in season 1.
@@jcolinmizia9161 That's their point
I didn't really buy the whole "real eleanor" story line. Like maybe if the character had a limp...might have been better.
Vicky's skin suit is a legit snack *high fives Eleanor, probably*
I would like your comment but it's currently at 69 and I just don't want to ruin that
Eleanor would agree with me

Vicky understood in the last reboot of season 2 how to do the emotional torture by herself when she made Tahani throw that party no one went to.
So I was actually pretty excited when she showed up.
Nory-Chan same. Suspicious at first, but when she ‘steals it all’ from Micheal, I trusted here
Yeah, and that worked even though Tahani knew it was meant to be torture! Vicky was brilliant when she wasn't being too egotistical.
I want to like your comment but it has 666 likes. Is this a test for me?
She's like Rachel from Glee.
It was the exact purpose of the original town Michael created for the 4 humans, torturing them by making them feel emotionally uncomfortable and annoyed.
I am a *strong, independent* Acid Snake.
In the skin suit of a *strong, independent woman*.
I can just picture Jason requesting to finally see michael as a fire squid for the finale
TerminalCarrion well now I need to see that for the finale. And he said he’s like 10 feet tall too.
*If Michael’s true form isn’t in the finale, the shows not ending.*
Jade Nguyen I think he said it’s about 100 feet tall 😂
Though now I think about it, that must mean people in the good place, accounting, the judge and the security guard are all wearing human suits....wonder what they look like. The only ones who genuinely seem to look human are the janets
TerminalCarrion who’s ‘corpses’ are marbles 🤔
See, this is why we need more episodes 😣😭😭 or are least a spin-off!
I always liked Vicky, cuz even though she only cared about the size of her "part", she still understood the torture as psychological and was actually really good at it. And running the new system is actually the perfect job for her.
Yeah Vicky was a pretty decent person for a demon, she always was on board with her teams but just wanted some recognition in return. Too bad she got crap from Michael and Shawn
@@JiglyPoof7 Yeah, she was the only demon who got Michael’s vision, and he failed to acknowledge that and gave her tiny roles.
@@davrosdaleks1Who knows' maybe if he'd let her get more involved in the original experiment, things wouldn't spin out of control....
she just takes her jobs seriously and want to live up to her potential. she wasnt even that antagonistic against michael at first and one of the few demons who actually on board with this fake good place idea.
@@davrosdaleks1She did start out as "real Eleanor," that was pretty big.
I wish so badly they would come out with "shorts" that show tests that various people were put though in the new system.
LIke we got to see Brent react to his test. I would kill to see more of that. Maybe Jon and Simone.
Yeah! And we can see people pass or fail their tests and why! We'd go through the various tests they dealt with, what said tests look like, and see how well or worst they progress with each test.
We could see them genuinely get better out of the desire to be better, we can see people trying to be better just to "make themselves seem better to try and pass the test", or we can see them never learn to be better no matter how many tests they go through.
And the various scenarios we could see for said tests present endless possibilities!
Oh my gosh. Yes. That’s one things that I felt was missing from the finale. The best we got was that one clip of Brent.
That first dislike is from Michael himself. So petty.
I dunno, I'm tempted to dislike because no chainsaw bears. Mondays, am I right?
The other dislikes are from the humans
Can we take a moment to talk about how good Vicky looks in here?
I always wonder why Good Place people are dressed so bad; maybe these are projection of Eleanor fantasy, like the american accent?
She's good here, two scenes later when she's on her way to cold yoga. 10/10

I know. Same. 🥺
2 episodes left. They are done with the bad place.
She's gonna hold it together even if Shawn starts to revolt. She finds typical, demonic torture to be boring. She prefers this type of torture.
You know I've been hating Vicky so much that I hadn't realized what a smoking hottie she is.

I honestly think Vicki was completely on board with Michael's plan for his "new" bad place but is just narcissistic and got fed up with the reboots. Which is fair. I'm glad in the last few episodes we got to see her basically fully join up with team cockroach
"Can you believe we're still having this dinner of Kahmillah?" I love her accent.

@@jonahs92?
How about that? The real Eleanor's character arc is so strong, it becomes a character circle. She goes from acting as a lawyer who saved innocent people from death row and donated food to poor refugees in Afghanistan, to really being a lawyer (of sorts) who made a test that can save souls of the afterlife from an eternity of torture in The Bad Place. April 28, 2021, 12:15am
woah. foreshadowing, now that i think about it.
also, the way you added the date and time when you wrote that comment 😭
"She had to come straight from the gym"
I kept thinking Vicky was going to stab us in the back… and still kinda do.
It all feels too good to be true but it’s the last season
Vicky loves to psychologically torture people, she proved that many times in season 1 and 2 and and she’s the only one besides Michael who has the creativity and patience to do so. It was quite fitting actually.
Jade Nguyen Vicky always wanted Attention.
It’s hard to trust her. But this is exactly what she wanted.
She'll do anything for attention.
I hope they will change the actual Good Place, because the angels who are running it, are too push over for me. Maybe Janet and Michael will take over.
That's the idea the good place is a bunch of bureaucrats and the bad place are a cross between stupid and to evil to something is wrong the hole system is broken
Gene Nolen I feel like they will have Michael and Janet create the four humans’ afterlife neighborhoods at the very least, but that would be really cool
WELL! This comment aged well, didn't it? Haha.
Pol Subanajouy it really did
HMMMMM
Vicky might just be my favorite character. It was always a thrill when she appeared.
What a perfect torture. She loves her sister and doesn't want to see her album fail. But she dreads this constant humiliation within her family. In a testing scenario, only true love will probably work.
I think she does want to see her album fail before she died... She was willing to ruin the party. She get what she wants subconsciously and it changes nothing. She can't even enjoyit
I wish there’d be a short video series showcasing the various tortures.
I like that they brought Vicki back and it made so much sense.
Vicky can GET IT
She's a legit snacc
What?
An strong independent acid snake who sometimes voices an strong independet mandalorian girl.
And both are artists. Hmm…
Could you imagine working out in a full ball gown lol
vicky Is soo pretty.
Michael couldn't handle it that someone was better than him.
I liked how they convinced the demons, as up until that point they had airways opposed them because they just wanted to torture people. Demons were the best people for this new test as it was very similar to torture. It's also more similar to Michael's original accidental experiment than what they cooked up for the beginning of the season. Also better than the ending.
1 did anyone else tear up when Michael said it was the soul squad? 2 there's1 episode then a 2 parter. 3 this show is FORKING AMAZING
Just watched the last episode, it ended perfectly
Seen a few clips now & this show looks brilliant. Gonna have to check it out.
Ok but the whole scene is amazing! Vicky "being" Tahani at the beggining deserves to be here too
Vicky was always talking about her character, which seemed like an in-joke about actors, but at the end, her ability to understand what makes other people tick in order to play them made her a natural at making those people better. Just one of the best shows.
I'm glad we saw more of Vicky.
Haven't seen the post-holiday episodes, intrigued to know the context for this
This episode feels like a good last episode. I do wonder what the other later episodes are going to be. I just hope it doesn't go full HIMYM and ruins the series

Vicky was the only demon who sincerely loved Michael's 1st project (especially acting).
Vicky was the best character
I respect it, but I still really don’t trust Vicky. I’m keeping one eye open for her.
I have no doubt in the world that the next episode is going to deal with the fact that no matter how good heaven is, it would never be able to satisfy everyone.
And that the show will end with it all being Michael's dream.
I feel like the latter half of the season is moving too fast. The earth was getting rebooted but suddenly it wasnt. They thought up a new plan and it's already under implementation. And now the four are ACTUALLY going to the ACTUAL good place? All in a span of three? four? episodes? I feel like a terrible twist is coming. And even if there isnt one, this isn't sitting well with me.
chances are they wont be happy in the good place and all become architects. Nobody wants to become complacent after spending Jeremy Bearimys making a positive influence on the world
My money is on they're not going to the real good place, it's the entrance to their real test to get in
Tweeks Ripper Holy motherforking shirtballs this would actually absolutely blow my mind and given that they are supposedly on the way to the real good place already with a few episodes remaining, this storyline would actually make sense. My man if you actually get this right, that would be !!!!!🤯😂
Every season has done a mad dash in its second half. In S1 Eleanor confessed she didn't belong and the rest of the season bounced from one thing to the next without slowing until the reveal. In S2 it was from Shawn showing up to tell Michael his idea worked and cascaded to getting sent back to earth. Then in S3 the mad dash was from everyone in Janet's void to Eleanor being the architect (the three episodes before _Janet(s)_ only don't seem too fast because they all take place at the same time, but technically they add to it. Everything in every season seems to move fast because it is a sitcom (not an hour drama) with an actual through story, but only thirteen episodes to get to its seasonal conclusion. Also, the group isn't just suddenly going to the good place. They have been working towards this since Michael asked to team up with them and form team cockroach in early S2. Plus there are still three episodes left.
To be fair the show has a running theme of immediately addressing issues rather than arcing them. Season 1 was probably the slowest season thus far.
Lol awesome 💜
YEAH VICKY!!!!! ...
I thought Tahani was over her sister, her test should've been based on her parents
I don't think their moment meant that the way the world views Tahani's sister isn't always going to get to Tahani. I think it was more of a Tahani doesn't blame her sister and/or knows it's just how her sister is and still loves her anyway.
@@Buffy8Fan I think the healed relationship with Kamilah is exactly why the test was hard for Tahani. Prior to her growth, Tahani would have roasted Kamilah without a second thought!
@@MelissaBlue 👍
I know i am a year late to reply, but Kamilah's "fall" is the real test here. Since Tahani and Kamilah made peace now she is forced to see her fail. And while the "old" Tahani happily burn her sister, now she is here tormented, because she knows that Kamilah's new album is destined to fail, yet, she should speak positively about it. So lie to Kamilah's face, or tell her the brutal truth in the middle of the party... that is why Tahani is struggling to say something.

I have two theories for how the next few episodes will go: my first one is that Tahani never actually finished her test, she’s still in this test made by Vicky, she never got to go to the good place, this is all one final attempt by the bad place to take them down, OR a much more random theory is that they will reach the REAL good place next episode and will then spend the episode there, but realise they want to go back/ need to go back to fix something, leading to the four humans, Michael and Janet becoming the new afterlife system themselves
Jamie Druce or they still have to get tested.

Why do I recognize Megan from somewhere
Some things have been bothering me: 1.Shawn got to agree to the changes w/o consulting the BP council 2. Shouldn’t everyone in the GP kind of suck by modern standards if they’re all from 500+ years ago? 3. Vicky was rather mediocre at it last time she led psychological torture.
1. The judge appointed Shawn to make the decision since he was basically their leader
2. The old system judged people by their time on Earth. All those people would have been put into different neighborhoods separated from people who died in different times
3. Vicky said she had time to think while reforming and that was time to improve
Hmm. Still strange that Gen didn’t consult Shawn’s bosses instead of him. He said back in season 2 that there’s a council that has the authority to promote or punish him.
Vicky had plenty of time to think, but just thinking about doing something doesn’t make you better at actually doing it.
Shawn doesn't have a boss or a council. The bad place is run like a corporation. Shawn is the boss. The Good Place is run by committee because that's how "good people" do things, by committee so everyone gets a say. (You see how effective that is).
@@jacobd1984 Shawn never said he had bosses. I've watched season one and two a bunch of times, I don't remember that. Shawn is the boss. I know at the end of Season one when he was pretending to be the judge, he told Michael his boss might "retire" him, but he was being snarky because he was talking about himself.
Vicky was already good at Psychological torture, she had time to get it right when she was running the neighborhood. She successfully tortured Tahani by throwing that party even though Tahani knew that was what Vicky was going to do.
Vickys bad place is that she made weapons that were used against her own people.
