Two Royal Enfields in my stable ( Classic 350 & Scram 411 ) they have been a hoot to ride and trouble free . Mild power bikes with a special character that is very endearing and they are simple to maintain at home yourself. The best value motorcycles on the market today imho .
@@cowmath77 The implication is that they NEED to. They are a failing brand. Their core audience is old, bike sales as a whole are down, and the younger crowd that does want a new bike don't want ancient tech on half ton bikes.
I have the super meteor and love its looks and would never consider the shotgun.. though I understand you might feel the opposite way and I’m glad you have a choice you like :) Not sure the shotgun will destroy the super meteor market… hopefully there’s room for both
I feel the Super Meteor is better long distance Cruiser with potential to be even be a small bagger. It has more shock travel (4in+), forward controls, and looks better with saddlebags. I feel the Shotgun is meant for Iron 883 Sportster Fans like me. It's more of a nimble around town bike. Mid controls, lower bar, and less shock travel (3.5in) I will be trading in my old Iron Sportster for a Royal Enfield Shotgun!
The foot position on these is about the same as an early GL1000 Goldwing. Having owned a GL1000, it's something I appreciate, and I get that foot position without cylinder heads in the way of my foot. Bonus! I pick up my new Shotgun 650 in 2 days.
Absolutely loved the review of the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650! The detailed insights and engaging presentation really brought the bike to life. Thanks for sharing such a thorough and exciting look at this new ride! 🚀🏍
Hi! I own both the SM 650, and just got the Shotgun 650, and RE’s all parallel twin, and I often am asked by bikers that all of ‘em are 650 CC so why did I buy all of their parallel twins leave alone the newly launched Bullet and the old warhorse Signal series (again 350 CC), my simple answer right off the the bat is that RE’s ability is “Product Differentiation” within the same technical framework, I am 6 feet as well and am as comfortable riding the GTs, the older and newer version of Interceptor, SM and the new Shotgun especially in our traffic conditions and road infrastructure - I am from India and the price points they are just fabulous!
A great looking bike, but I think that the Super Meteor will remain a better selling machine from RE. :) Waiting to try one. Hopefully very soon. Cheers.
Unfortunately, it's difficult to maintain the roads in CA cities. Most of it has to do with corruption. Every special interest within the city needs to dip their hands into the funds before construction can begin. It is possible to do things quickly in CA cities when it's a necessary road with a failure. But if its planned maintenance, then it goes through the cesspool of special interests. East LA is a good choice because it has that urban feel, and the roads are like India. When you get out of LA into the rural roads, you get to see where all those gas taxes go with asphalt replaced every couple of years.
its less comfort than RE GT 650 but more comfort than super meteor 650, give it a test ride personlly i feel its 100% looks rest comfort ride are all okay managable , i booked it will get delivery after 3months
Plenty of aftermarket goodies for this engine to wake it from its factory slumber. Good bike yes, great bike I dunno I’d have to own it for a few seasons to make that decision. I am showing middleweights this year but haven’t pinned down any one platform currently the 650 ninja in matt green has my undivided attention but my poor wife and her strained eye muscles from all the rolling would tell you there isn’t a bike I actually don’t like so there’s that. I need to sell two so bringing home one almost goes un noticed ……. Almost 🤣

It wouldn't make sense for Royal Enfield to invest in such an engine just yet. They just finished work on a 450cc water cooled engine. V-twins take a bit of setup, and it took them decades to get rid of the vibrations on their singles. It also wouldn't be unique with the Japanese Cruisers being V-twins.
I rode an Enfield bullet 350 around India for six months in 1996. Top to bottom They’ve come a long way. an absolute piece of junk.. I had electrical problems. Went through two pistons and rings. It was me my girlfriend, my Guitar ,,,We went all over. Every time I see somebody with one of these Enfields. I say you wouldn’t have bought one if you went to India. In the early 2000s they were being imported mostly through Switzerland. But they had to change lotsa parts to conform to eu specs. I still have my softail Evo. Which I took around the world.

Do folks really like Royal Enfield? I think they look terrible. At most they’re mediocre as far as riding…I just don’t get it. That brand makes no sense to me. Well, either does Harley…maybe I’m just getting old and grumpy…

Witch one you prefer of the two?
Royal Enfield is doing what Harley and Indian Motorcycles fails to do... sell motorcycles under under 10K.
When did Hd or Indian say they were trying to sell bikes under 10k?
@@cowmath77 They used to sell bikes under 10K USD less than ten years ago.

Don't know about Super Meteor but it may hurt interceptor cuz tall guys may go for it because of the better sitting posture
Apart the classic, SM is way more comfortable than SG be it highway or even city. SM sells more too

As always with Adam, great review.
You’re back !
Great job describing the Shotgun 650. Just would have liked to hear about the rack and pillion feature.
Really nice useful review, good job. I think that will pair with my classic 350 nicely.
Great informative review. Thanks a lot!
A classic 650 is on the way...😍😍😍
Thank you Adam for giving us a trustworthy review. So what is your preference, Shotgun or SuperM? Good camera work and edit. Concise and thorough.
Nice job.😊
I watched the first minute and thought, “OMG, what s-hole country did they send Adam to for this launch?”And then I realized, it was L.A. 😂
Thank you!
Good points, great review. Thanks.

What about putting a recluse slipper jockey shift and a big bore kit on it?

*47hp not 41hp
I think he is referring to the horsepower at the rear wheel.
Also *650(648cc) not 640 as he spoke mistakenly
Other reviews have mentioned less than optimal riding comfort, I would have wanted to hear Adam's opinion. Or, did I miss that detail..?

For that kind of money I would go for a Kawasaki Vulcan 650 or even spend a tad more and get a Yamaha MT-07.
If they made this with larger V twin engine they could really give Harley a run for their money

In the value category I think they're doing good things and caught my eye with the himalayan. They're an Indian company in competition with China?
Yeah people like them.. That’s why the company exists.
