@@cosmicconcious Kai and Oogway were both evil and greedy warlords. Also makes sense why would Kai have the names "Beast Of Vengeance", "Maker Of Widows"? And they both led armies. The pandas taught Oogway how to use power for good. Oogway realised and stopped Kai. It makes sense why Kai says "I loved him like a brother.. and he betrayed me", and Oogway DID betray him. Oogway turned good, Kai didn't turn evil.

also major plot twist, he was evil in the first place along with master oogway it was oogway that became good and "betrayed" kai. this took me 5 rewatches to put two and two together and it only clocked to me when i realized that master oogway was a warlord and kai was his warlord brother, to be honest it completely blew my mind i really thought master oogway was like this sage hermit who isolated himself for a long time until he found disciples like shifu

As much as I don't want to be negative about this movie, Kai's backstory never hits me in the way that Tai Lung or Shen's did 😟

If they didn't toned down a bit after KFP 2, Im sure Kai as a whole would be badass and his backstory alongside with Oogway would be fleshed out, but again
KFP2 was dark so they had to toned the 3rd one for that matters because of critics
I'm hoping for KFP4 will be dark but also bright, balancing it would be nice unlike KFP3

Kais backstory isn’t as good as Tai lungs or Shens but it’s still pretty cool Kai never turned evil Kai and oogway were conquerors oogway turned good

Personally his backstory is my favourite. Many people are blind and don't realise that Oogway and Kai were both evil and greedy Warlords at the time, Kai was always evil from the start. He didn't turn evil randomly like many people think. It was actually Oogway that turned good; the panda's taught Oogway how to use power for good. Also hence it makes sense why Kai says "He betrayed me", and Kai was right. Oogway did betray him.
