I watch your videos since years now and i personally think that youre doing bad at face up this kind of repairs without watch first few tutorials and some forum about. it will make you go into it in the correct way, save you lot of time and i really think that also it will make you learn to work, since youre not mechanic
I hope so much you take this advise and help you much!!

I suggest you to delete the whole EGR system(egr valve, egr cooler, egr thermostat) so you save yourself from future problems. Also make sure that the swirl flaps are removed from intake manifold and oil breather on valve cover is an upgraded vortex one. Also changing thermostat together with water pump makes more sense :) Keep it up and enjoy winter :)

Adding to that you should keep egr system somewhere stored i would think inspections in norway might be more strict and result in not passing. And of course programming out both swirl flaps and egr.

Never take apart the EGR Thermostat they will likely never be sealed again.
Learned it at first try to swap the EGR cooler.
Just buy a delete EGR kit and make sure you wanna buy a good kit with mounting for engine cover otherwise it will be loose.
TAFMET makes some cheap good ones.

Hi, did you manage to remove the old water pump gasket? Since I didn't see it to be removed in a video. The original water pump gasket is connected to the larger front gasket and needs to be cut in a couple of spots. It's a bit of a pain to cut it precisely. Also as someone mentioned before it would be a good idea to change both thermostats while you're in there.

@@FahreFilms i have a 2008 lci 530xd, I have ran Stage 3 on it now (420whp on dyno) for 2 years, over 180000km driven. Do all these small "barnesykdommer" first and you will have a super reliable car that will get you anywhere, I do not recommend ever selling it. Few cars compare when it comes to comfort, speed, and reliability. Best of luck to you on your journeys, if you need cheap parts I have a resale contract with several companies. Both aftermarket and original parts, if you send me a PM I will send you my email, Regards.
One more thing, do not buy F chassis if you want reliability. Take it from someone who has worked on over 120 F series BMW's for the last two years, they are worse. The N57 is also worse, there is a reason why it cost 42% less to produce then the M57

i have the very terrible experience with this car myself, I have same year but automatic..
Car is great outside but every month or so I have a break, either mechanical or electronics. When I was buying this car I was pointed that m57 is the way to go and it's the best engine out there, unfortunately it gets really expensive, fuel consumption is 12l/100km city, in the winter this goes to 14l/100km... Plus all the expenses with repairs.. I am switching to audi a5 very soon.
