    Excellent video! Too many times, the people who do these types of videos talk about themselves for the first 8 minutes (or to give a reason for doing the video) and then FINALLY get around to addressing the 5-minute repair issue that will then take them 10 minutes to explain. This is straightforward; it addresses the issue from the beginning; and the instructions are easy to follow. Thank you.

    Got it! I initially hired a “handyman” to fix this after the gasket somehow got loose and melted on the heating element of the dishwasher. I didn’t realize he didn’t know how to fix it and he literally laid it at the bottom of the dishwasher where the door and base meet. He asked me if it was like this before, I told him I had no idea. I was hoping he knew. Of course it was only a matter of time before the gasket came in contact with the heating element again. Thankfully I found this video, ordered the part and installed it myself. My husband thinks I bite off more than I can chew but I was determined to fix this and not spend another dime having someone else do it. This video made that possible. Thanks!!

    I tried so hard to shove this in there but kept popping back out until i realized the gasket has a DEDICATED slot just underneath the bottom plastic portion of the inside door. If you can stick your head into the dishwasher and look at the inside bottom door, then lift the plastic up a little, you will see like a pocket underneath just for the gasket. This is why there is a notch on the gasket and its always on the right side of the dishwasher. This notch must be fitted into the pocket just right for the entire gasket to fit or else it will pop out when you close the door. Hope this helps someone

    Totally the best video on how to install the bottom door gasket. No other video really gets into the track that that sucker needs to fit into. Start on the right side, just like this video says. When you lift the inner panel up slightly, you will understand where it fits in along the bottom edge.

    THANK YOU! After 3 years, the seal fell out of the door. It was under warranty so that was nice. About 6 months later, it fell out again. I ordered 3 of them from you guys as backups and replaced the one that fell out (the same way it was installed by the service tech). DIDN'T WORK! Kept falling out. Frustrated last night I quit trying. Found this video from you today and guess what? The tech had installed it upside down and backwards!!! The gasket part was in the door and the grooved part was against the tub seals and floor. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!

    Thanks, this is the only video that really shows how that seal fits. Replaced it once 3 months ago, but it kept falling out .. had it backwards and not pushed in far enough. My model is older, so removing the front panel does not expose a visual of the seal, you can still see if it is going in the right slot.

    I did this yesterday, after noticing a leak the day before. After removing the seal apparatus, I didn't notice any defects or significant wear-just soap scum and mildew. Hence, I just cleaned up the apparatus with soap and water, small brush and my hands to scratch off some of the soap scum. I reinserted, just as described, and so far no new leaks. I'll likely order a replacement part, just in case. The hardest part is putting the front panel back on. Great video nonetheless.

    Thanks very much for the instruct. I'd just add this for anyone else doing it -
    If the plastic piece goes into the slot very easily and deeply and moves around easily, then you haven't hit the skinny slot yet. Have to kind of push upwards while pushing inwards into the skinny slot.

      Coincidentally, I had just ran the first wash to test and I'm still getting a leak. It's not as bad as before but is still pretty significant. I'm wondering if I need to take the part back off and clean in there. There was some sandy gunk on the old one. Or maybe I don't have it positioned quite right? Or other issue I'm not familiar with?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  7 лет назад

      I would clean everything up to be sure that is not the issue. Sometimes if the lower spray arm is cracked/split it will shoot water into this area causing leaks. So make sure you check that.

    • @jeffh2125
      @jeffh2125 7 лет назад

      I took off the bottom kick plate so that I could see beneath the unit and the main leak is coming from the motor. So, while that lower door seal was falling apart and I'm sure needed replacement; it was not the main problem. This looks like it could be fairly expensive. Eeeegads ! :-)

    Lay on your side and look at the bottom door hinge . View the side profile . Then you can see the slot that actually holds the seal in place. The top view is for people who do this for a living. Much easier to see from the side . If not the seal keeps missing the slot

    I took the front panel off and ran a load to see where the water was leaking. A drip of water was running along a zip tie and bypassing the gutter at the bottom of the door. One drip after another and this makes a nice puddle. So that was easy to fix--no more zip tie. But I was surprised to discover the the amount of water that was dripping from under the metal face plate into the gutter--about 1/2 -3/4 cup. Is this normal? The seals appear to be soft and intact. The lower arm is not cracked.

    Thank you for the video, so clear! My question is, if i have a small leak how do I know whether the issue is the gasket (previous video) or the bottom door seal? Or could it be something else entirely?
    I had assumed gasket because I noticed that one side sticks out and the other is in, and then I saw in your video that it's normal for one side to stick out... so now I don't know what the problem is but there's a trickle of water coming out the lower right corner.

    Yeah, that bottom door gasket is not as easy as this looks. My door is spring loaded so it does not just lay down, which actually is a good thing. The door needs to be up at a 20 degree angle to start that plastic piece. Took several minutes just to get the angle right too push that edge into that channel.

    My dishwasher is a little different than the one in this video but pretty much same concept..the dishwasher was only used twice in 1 year and now leaks from both edges of im assuming this seal..i pulled out the seal but it looks brand new just as it technically is since it was only used twice..the edges of the seal look somewhat folded..any chance those folds could cause the leak?

    • @appliancepartspros

    Thanks for the video. However, after checking my dishwasher, I found out that my old door gasket is somehow glued on to the door, since I cannot find any notch to let the new gasket stay in pace. I can also see the trace of glue on my old gasket.
    The new gasket I'm going to order looks exact the same as the old one. Have you see any kind of this model that need a glue? I'm pretty sure that I am using the same model as in your video.

    No go. Watched the video multiple times - it's so easy. New seal seated fine, a little tug confirms this, but as soon as we close the door, seal viewed from the outside of the door is half sticking out. We grab it from the outside, it falls out, and we open the door and go thru the same steps repeatedly. Notch doesn't seem to do anything either. Is it possible there is something broken/warped inside the door where we are slipping the new seal into? It's just not latching onto anything.

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  7 лет назад

      Sounds like maybe you are not pushing it on far enough. You could take the inner door liner off so you could turn it over and inspect the back side.

      I had the same problem and I hope this makes sense...with the front panel off, get eye level at the bottom with where the silver ends. You will see a white piece of plastic that’s about 1.5 inches in from the edge of the door and runs the length, and only about a quarter to half inch width. THAT is the lip that the seal need to get tucked under.

    Quick question. I replaced my door seal before watching any videos and I didn’t loosen or take out any screws and the old seal came right out and new one went right in. So as long as it doesn’t leak am I good to go ?

    If you have a Kenmore Dishwsher, DO NOT remove the door front. Spent 2 hours trying to get it back on. Loosen the bottom screw, remove & replace the seal per the video, tighten the screws.

    How can I find the model number, if it has been worn off ? So that I may find the correct parts.

    Thanks for the video. I've got the part, but it does not 'seat' in there. It is not tight or hard to put in or remove. It simply slides in and out. Is there something else that needs replacing or adjusting?
    Thanks in advance.

      Vaughn Vigil It needs to be pushed up into the channel if not it will just fall out. If you need to you can stick your head in the dishwasher and look into the opening, to see the channel.

    Hi, wondering if anyone can be of help. I have a Frigidaire dishwasher similar to the one in the video, model # FDB520RHC0A. It leaks at the bottom between the door and the body of the dishwasher. I have replaced both the bottom-door seal and the tub gasket without improvement. I am certain that I installed the bottom-door seal correctly. I took the front panel off the door and ran the dishwasher and could see that the leakage was coming from the open space in the middle of the seal that doesn't have a yellow strip. I can easily slip a piece of paper into this opening even with the door fully closed. I don't know if there's another missing piece that I missing or if the dishwasher is just defective? This dishwasher is relatively new - the seal and gasket I replaced did not look used at all. Any idea why it's still leaking???

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  8 лет назад

      +Mariya Fiman Did someone put regular dish soap in the dishwasher? This could cause the water to bubble up and cause leaking. Also check out the lower spray arm if its cracked and shooting water out the end at the door area it could cause a leak. You can also post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem.

    Replaced seal. When I run the dishwasher without the front panel on, I can see water still coming under seal and from the sides but has not been enough water to overflow onto floor. Anyone else still having water past the seal after replacing. Before I replaced I could see water get past the seal and overflow onto the floor with the front panel off.

      It still leaks with the new seal installed. I have videotaped it and water shoots out from several different spots but about 1/3 of previous volume. Almost looks like it is coming from a crack in the black corrugated hose but bit farther up inside the dishwasher behind the door panel. How did you end up fixing?

      +Jason Block I got the same problem. There is a .5 cm opening in the bottom of the new gasket I purchased, where there was none in the original one. There is some water coming out of it during the wash cycles, but it gets back in a little over time, as if it was there as a drain purpose. Is this normal?
