Wait Thessarian isn't terrible. It's a completely fine fill card.
it's not "fine", it's one of the highest mulligan winrate cards despite being a 4 drop, it's absolutely one of the best cards in the deck
@@penguinvader7057 Yeah, came here to say the same thing. Even if the opponent instantly removes it, it deals 6 to face on an empty board. As Frost, your early game goal is to get your opponent to 18-20 health, so Thessarian puts in work.
this is fair, think my personal bias came over, its good card, my mistake
That's honestly underselling him. Just look at Death Knight and you'll notice is present in almost EVERY SINGLE Frost Knight deck, with above average play and mulligan winrates. Is great for the same reason cold case is great, because the burn aspect is great of those cards while giving you board presence and not being too costly is innherently good.
dude is played in every single Frost** DK and has the 4th place on most played cards of the expansion
The spider tank sneaking up got me good. A+ to the editor.
😂
Rarran himself i guess
Episodes with Stevie are such a treat. They are genuinely the best.
I relate to someone with very limited hearthstone knowledge than to someone with a lot/none, which is why Stevie is the best guest.
@@MrJsintic I've said it before, but I like Stevie on this show because he has a good understanding of (card)game mechanics in general and he knows how to word his thoughts very well... + he's funny and look at that hair!
You know Stevie is a pro when he ain’t even competing
My favorite guest by far. Hilarious speaker and a good amount of fundamental HS knowledge to make great calls on first impressions
Stevie is exactly the right kind of goof for these videos.
Tanky Spider joke was good lol
after seeing a lot of yugioh related videos, rarran not getting the "cooking" thing is so funny. truly, what was he cooking?!
as someone who doesnt play hearthstone right now but used to, these are so fun to watch. I pause the vid on every card and try to guess before Stevie
Surprised Stevie missed the mark on Frostwyrm's Fury. It's basically Firelands Portal for Death Knight. That was pretty decent, yeah? And then you have Frost Nova on top of that.
I love that everybody's reaction to signature cards has been "Wtf is that?"
They're SO bad 😭
As someone who plays both Hearthstone and Yugioh, I'm really enjoying these crossover videos.
Should try this with Ingnideus from Shadowverse. Would be fun to compare the Deathknight cards to Shadowcraft cards.
As a shadowverse player, I think almost all hearthstone cards are terrible lmao
@@randomcatname7792the power level of the two games isn't on a line lol
@@randomcatname7792 I need a ptp style deck in hearthstone. (i.e. math warrior.)
I'm pretty sure ptp hasn't been good since the first season but still...
@@randomcatname7792 shadowverse is a game that shows why it was a smart idea to make less charge cards in hearthstone. Shadowverse meta is full of decks that can kill you from full health and a defensive board. So the reason hearthstone power creep isn't as insane as shadowverse is because they made a smart choice. I'm surprised I'm still playing shadowverse to be honest seeing how sick I am of the countless cards they have made that wreck the opponents board and then go face. My 3 most hated cards are probably skeleton raider, absolute tolerance and Kuon, wuxing master since not only to they wipe your board smack you for most of your health they also cost 0-1 play points when played
@Kristjan Kirbits yeah I personally played shadowverse for about a year before I stopped. Decks either aggroed you down by turn 6 or spammed their specific gimmick before proceeding to one shot you with their actual win con on turn 10.
I've heard that the devs intentionally designed the game to end on a clock so that players could fit in a match in between breaks or a train commute. It's an acceptable design if you want fast matches but I personally value a more varied back and forth in a ccg rather than the way shadowverse feels like it's forcing you to go through the motions which just happens to end in a win
I really feel for some of these episodes, you could sneak in some of the actual meta combos that are ridiculous right now… Brann, Guff (Hero) and rogue in general come to mind right away as things they should be aware exist in standard x)
Aint no way we calling st3vie a pro
The answer is simple: Blue great, Red meh, Green trash. There's no need for thinking too hard on it.
Also Rarran, don't lie, thesaurus makes the cut on frost Death knight.
Even unholy is good in wild
@@IHarleyWin We are talking about standard. In wild there's a clear lack of balance, even moreso than standard.
13:26 Yugioh player forgets how good Trishula was XD
Out of all the pros that actually make content, he picked the guy whos actually banned from events lmao. I gotta love stevie tho
well with Alexandros Mograine sure by itself It isn't all that great but take in to account cards like Vampiric blood , blood boil ,Gnome muncher and Soulstealer that help keep you alive for the "bleed" to do its thing. Also discovering more copies of Mograine himself with Hemoturges make it 6+ damage per turn which stacks up rather quickly.
Yeah those cards aren’t seeing the board bro
I watched maybe two or three videos with this yugioh player (sorry, idk his name) but he is PRETTY good at understanding and analysing cards from another card game. I'd say he's better at analysis than some previous pros (Reynad as an example). Props
Damn, showing him stitched giant without any context was really mischievous 💀
It looks like a very good card if corpse spending had a decent curve. Discounting this 3 times would be insane. Alas
The tanky spider joke got me to chuckle, kudos to Stevie :)
stevie is my favorite pro player
"surely frostwyrms fury is bad, what is blizzard undercooking". "um actually this card is made by walter white himself" *breaking bad intro starts playing*
that had me dying for over 10 minutes. thanks for the good content man.
Cooking is the newest Yu-Gi-Oh meme. "Let him cook" is the equivalent to "Let him think/brew/surprise us".
oh yea Rarran have you seen the Mograine signature art? One artist posted the original one (without the filter, although its been deleted from the site) and it looks absolutely stunning.
I love that you throw the subtle hate at the new cosmetic cards every time a guest is over (I genuinely mean this it makes me laugh every time and I agree with you)
How did stevie not recognize patchwork was trishula
Did you reveal the general focus of Frost/Unholy/Blood before having him make guesses on the cards? It doesn't seem like it but may have been cut in edits.
it was cut
love these videos with people from other card games. good content!
Pro Player: Stevie
Zilliax being mentioned as something old feels weird to me. I began to play properly when mechs were getting support once again and I remember having Zilliax in all of my decks, especially Mech decks
9:30 the editor man. that was hilarious!
"Looks like a Mahjongg piece." Is my absolute favorite descriptor ever.
"You remember Zilliax?" - *Unity, precision, perfection flashbacks intensify*
Man I’ve missed this series, bring it back regularly!!
Absolutely love this series. Keep'em coming.
well death knight can be split broadly into blood knight, iceknight and unholy knight, barring a few cards that cross the lanes
blood knight is centered around lifesteal, and expanding the pool from 30 to 50 health, it regularly decks out demon hunters, or rogues, and all the instakill cards can throw a spanner, or a cleaver, into any strats.
ice knight is when the DK wants to be go fast... spell damage, frost spells and board clearing are their jam, the bane of paladins and other swarmer decks.
unholy knight is when you go whole ham on an undead army that you summon, resummon, and probably equip with antimagic shields, get enough bodies ground up and one legendary in particular can give you six hulked out super minions for them
Always a fantastic time when these two get together
think it was pretty unfair to show unholy cards without context because individual unholy cards are extremely good in a vacuum especially army of the dead which is why unholy cards are so broken in arena, the cards themselves are standalone very strong to the point it's difficult to imagine them not working but there's just no cohesion in the rest of the cards and blizzard made the aggro rune too slow ironically, plague giant and army of the dead are insane cards once unholy has enough corpse generation early game, i honestly think they're going to overcorrect in the upcoming expansions due to how weak unholy was on arrival and it'll be the strongest dk deck in a set or two
there were so many unholy cards, after the first card was revealed and deemed to be bad it was fair to call all of them bad is all i'm saying. you could've brought in an unholy ultimate infestation for 5 mana and then revealed how unplayable and bad it was just because it had the misfortune of belonging to an incomplete archetype. it would've been better to show one good unholy card that isn't played bc unholy isn't and then move on and show other cards rather than harp on how unplayable unholy is for over 3 cards
what makes this guy a pro yugioh player?
Always fun to see these videos, I won't repeat the pinned comment, so I'll just say it's funny to see him look at cards like frostwyrms fury and patchwork and really undervalue packaging cards.
i love those types of videos of yours) Would love to see you do one with Cardfight Vanguard maybe, I know it's not that big I think it would be fun
Pro YuGiOh! player.
That's not even him
Love these collabs and card ratings, have you done any with fellow HS content creators? I think it might be fun to rate cards pre-release and then see who got the most ratings right after the meta settles down. 😀
i like that you describe death knight mechanics 6 cards in with frostwyrm fury...
I love these videos. You should do one with the Runeverse player xD
Yo the editing has been absolutely slapping lately
Seeing Stevie back u already know its gonna be a good video
Next time you should show him gameplay footage of oberpowered cards
0:20 sus hand movements rarran
im fucking crying laughing at this comment it takes a certain type fo person to even notice it cudos bro
What a rookie mistake. This guy got Anub'Rekhan, the first boss of the Arachnid Quarter in Naxxramas, confused with Anub'Arak, the final boss of Trial of the Crusader and the undead leader of the Nerubian army who can also be slain inside of the dungeon Azjol-Nerub.
I hope he really feels silly for that mistake now.
patchwerk can randomly destroy a murloc a murloc and a murloc, or he can destroy your super buffed minion on the field, your best minion in hand and the minion you built your strategy around in your deck.
Random people/Rarran rating and "Do you Know Hearthstone" are insta-like favorites
I fucking hate hearthstone but man I just love your videos. There's so much energy and passion.
I loved the editing this video! It's usually good but this video's editing felt like it had more personality than usual. Idk if that makes sense
Side note loved the breaking bad joke it was smooth
Talking about Alexandros Mograine "Cause at the moment, the game is too fast. There's no reason for you to ever play this card". Meanwhile, this card is IN EVERY SINGLE ONE of the Blood DK decks out there, from day 1 it was released since today!!
Wait what? The corpse mechanic is literally just the DETERMINATION SAVE artifact from undercards!
These videos are awesome! Hopefully we can get more, you reacting to other games cards is cool too but not near as good
you and stevie have such great chemistry out of all your collabs
Such a great and smart dude. Very charismatic and fun. Definitely need more videos with him!
Great episode, thanks!
8:40 Best part of the video 🤣🤣🤣
You keep forgetting that signature card arts reflect the recently released set. The art is monotoned, cold, and dead looking because that's what death knights are. If the next expansion set is themed around mechs for example, then the signature card art would probably have a steam punk or bio mech look to them.
11:38
I was able to play this card 4 times back to back in 4 consecutively turns.
5 dmg to face, summons a 5/5 and freeze your opponent board.
i appreciate you do these.
Cmon Stevie, at 13:45 you just looked at trishula and called it ass. I expected more ngl
You can't say pro Yu-Gi-Oh player than show me Stevie Blunder lmao
stevie is so funny please have him on as much as you can haha
Omg it does look like a mahjong tile.
He saying patchwerk is trash but its literally the hearthstone version of trishula dragon of the ice barrier
New video idea: "Hearthstone player plays WoW for the first time" hehe. Would actually be so much fun to see. I started as a hearthstone player myself and when I slowly got into WoW it was so much fun to see how many characters and locations i recognized. Just an idea :D (its free till level 20 aswell)
1. Chillfallen Baron was the card that made me realise the massive difference between Yugioh and Hearthstone's gameplay. Because if that thing was in the former, it would be limited (if not banned outright) and still ran in *every deck* in the game.
2. Thessarian is honestly fine. Not great, but easy access to a sticky minion that can deal decent damage is always good.
3. I think one of the main problems with DK in general is that many of its cards seem to have been designed with the meta of 3-4 years ago in mind. It has powerfull combos across the board, but is too slow to get to them to be consistently viable.
Then again, the meta is so batshit insane right now that I can't even blame Blizzard for not being able to predict how underpowered DK would feel.
To a YGO player, Chillfallen Baron is Pot of Greed on a body, since you wouldn't even have to wait a turn to get the 2nd draw, you'd just synchro or link it off.
@@WavemasterAshi tbf Deathrattle would probably translate into a monster being destroyed by battle or card effect to activate
@@filipvadas7602 For a LoR player perspective, we have to pay 5 mana for drawing 2 and get a 2|2 body in eye of Nagakabourus, and that card is considered borderline busted. They also had to nerf Hidden Pathways, a Chillfalen baron without a body, due to being a ridiculously overtuned at 3 mana. That being said delayed card draw isn't that good due to the massive tempo lost.
I love the videos you do with him, niceee
This guy, PATCHWORK IS LITERALLY A VERSION OF TRISHULA
The other currency is similar to bones in inscription which they might have gotten the idea from
It is hard for Yu-gi-oh brain to process freeze because freeze is so weak in Yu-gi-oh but in HS it is akin to Time Walk in MtG.
Even unholy in wild is tier 1 so unholy isn't that bad. (Never mind that the 1 mana hero power carries unholy)
Making astalor a deathrattle to shuffle him back into your hand would be a decent fix
TIL the meaning of rime, love the educational videos
Plz do an episode of you reviewing YGO cards
I fucking love this dude I hope you dudes are good buds
16:25 the real anub appears baby
Actually this YuGiOh player could say about a card more truly than Rarran
OMG! HOW CAN'T A YUGIOH PLAYER SEE THAT PATCHWERK IS LITERALLY, LITERALLLLLLLLY, FREAKING, TRISHULA!
Only thing with Alexandros if you can live long enough is Brann and him then you deal 6 damage end of your turns then it's okay
Never miss a chance to dunk on signature cards
Loving stevie on the show!
We cookin
9:11 it was 3/3 before
RARRAN you could do a "rates episode", but insted the players try to guess if the card are good or not you give a description of the card in the meta and the players try to guess if you are telling the truth or lieng. Apologizes for the bad writing i'm a fan from Brazil.
should have reminded him what Genn Greymane does and he would have been even more acurate
This is interesting to watch as a yugioh player
Patchwerk can be a 1/1 for 7 mana and will be playable
Brann-Patchwerk still makes people concede, in my experience.
You seem to value rating cards in the contexr of how good their deck is vs. just rating the cards independently. Blightfang is an insane card in a bad deck
Lmao stitched gigant being meta rn with rainbow DK
reminds me of shadowcraft in shadowverse
8:11 Bro thinks he's Doctor Boom 💀
They must’ve made signature cards just for me because I think I’m the only person in hearthstone who likes them
I just noticed. Why is necrolord mograine wielding ashbringer?
Finally Stevie again
