It’s been more than a decade since my husband’s indiscretions. We’re about to get therapy together for my PTSD. Better late than never. I suffer greatly, especially when I’m triggered by certain surroundings and circumstances. It’s awful!!!

My husband and I will be getting therapy, not just for his issues, but for my PTSD which is off the charts. My husband is a repeat offender and always told me to get over it until I found Dr. Weiss on RUclips. My husband saw all of his videos, especially about gaslighting the betrayed wife. He doesn’t dare gaslight me anymore. I’m hopeful that these extensive Christian therapy sessions will deal with our issues. I don’t trust my husband as far as I can throw him. I trust in the Lord to guide me through this storm. Time doesn’t heal anything either.

@feliciaforde5750 I have same anxiety as well. I even get triggered if I'm shopping for groceries and see a pretty woman and I get thankful that my husband wasn't with me to see her. It happens off and on. Sometimes I talk myself into saying saying it's just human nature, and other times I wish the planet was void of every woman. It's super hard.

@@cynthiadelgado1317 as for your reply, it's almost just as hard to find help. I've tried two counselors and one had the gall to say maybe I should have a more open mind and give in to my husband's idea of threesom, for example. The second one was very disconnected and made me feel like my story bored her. So, I just found this video and decided to try to handle it myself. I've never been more lonely and betrayed over and over. I'm now reclusive, and can hardly function

I've had all 3 traumas. Over 18 yes I've suffered in silence. Using drugs as a bandaid which has of course made it worse... I'm at a point now that my life is in severe jeopardy. I do need help. I feel hopeless.

I am so sorry you have gone through this. I, too, have had all three traumas and have lived with many effects. I started with self care as I had neglected my health. Talking to God helps me. My dog helps me. Music helps me.
I was angry at myself for staying and the amount of time I lost in all of this. Yes, I was angry at my spouse. I can't change him.
I wish you love, peace and joy overflowing. You deserve it.

As a man I have experienced this from my female partner this started in September of 2023 and I feel utterly lost, alone, dead inside, unloved, unwanted. All this started from picking her phone up and I can’t unsee what I saw. All I want is to feel loved by her again and not like the ghost I have been made to feel like since then. What can I do?

It's not always sexual. Could be the first time they hit you. Could be when the honeymoon phase ends with a bang, catching you off guard and you're suddenly trapped being massively humiliated in public with no way out. Walking on eggshells once you find out that at the drop of a hat your Dr Jekyll can suddenly become Mr Hyde. The first time you are the deer and they are the headlights yet the normal emotions that would be the brakes never happen.

My heart goes out to you as I hear that what you are going through in your marriage. Your partner betrayal trauma and the pain that comes with it are real. Know that your husband did is not your fault and you are not damaged goods.
I'm glad to hear that you are about to get counseling to help with this. Although, it would be best if the therapist you go see is trained in partner betrayal trauma so that they can understand and validate what you have gone through. He should also get help to recover from his actions and have accountability. If you're interested, you can contact our office at 719-278-3708 and we can provide counseling options for the two of you.
If he is willing, the two of you can get the Helping Her Heal Set, as it would help him to better understand how his actions have impacted you and how to properly validate your feelings and help you and the marriage heal.
      www.drdougweiss.com/product/helping-her-heal-set/
The feelings of PTSD, anxiety, and the like that you are experiencing are quite common for those who have been betrayed in this way. You might want to check out the DVD "Triggered" since it covers the issue of trauma and how to manage triggers.
      www.drdougweiss.com/product/triggered-video-download/
We have a Partner Betrayal Trauma book/DVD and workbook that you would find helpful too, as they would validate what you have gone through and help you work through it and heal.

As women, we are the ones seeking answers, asking God to help us. "There's a workbook for her" ugh!! Yes, it will help because you are seeking answers but it "might" help him understand? That is a tough one to get past. I am still separated and "working on things" I hate all the pain that women have suffered. Yes, there are reasons for men to behave this way but it is far past time that they admit to the problem and ask for help...on their own.

I need something specifically for my type of situation. I have the workbooks and they have helped some but I need something for marriage over due to him performing oral sex on a gay man. I saw a coach who recommened the books but I need more. Almost 39 years of marriage and he threw it all away. He took all of the money and I'm in the process of getting a divorce.

What if the other person never supports your parenting responsibilities. As a family we agreed on healthy rules and boundaries with our children. She just sat back and betrayed me on so many levels. I was not at home because of my work schedule. I was supportive of everything she did but over and over she would set me up as someone I was not. I became the whipping boy for just saying no that is not right or healthy to allow drugs or abusive language towards myself or my wife. I'm just so very hurt about her mind set not standing up with me and being a parent and help mate.

    • @DrDougWeiss
      @DrDougWeiss  8 месяцев назад

That is indeed a difficult situation to be in. The pain and betrayal that you have experienced are real and it's unfortunate to hear how this is affecting your family. If you haven't already, I would suggest the two of you do counseling to receive guidance and see if you can resolve these issues, or at the very least, you can get healing and support for yourself.
If you're interested, you can contact Heart To Heart Counseling Center at 719-278-3708 and we can get you started. We offer individual and couples in person (you can ask if we have someone in your local area) or virtually. We also have a 3 and 5 day intensive program that help expediate the process by providing a lot of counseling over a short period. You don't have to go through this alone.
