She tried time after time to tell Emily to mind her own business, and she didn't listen. If she needs her mother's input, she will ask for it. Lorelai is an adult.

Emily doesn't know boundaries. Personally I think she had that coming and she deserved it.
Emily completely deserved this. She tried to ruin her (grown adult) daughter’s happy relationship, and push her towards a guy that she didn’t even like herself (she clearly said that she didn’t like Christopher but valued his background and precious Hayden name). That’s despicable behaviour and parenting. If anything, Emily got off too easily. No-one including parents deserves automatic respect and reverence regardless of how they act or behave.
