We've had a blast in Turkey, what a cool country to explore! Sad that today we travel on from Istanbul, but pleased we can go via the New Istanbul Airport known as Istanbul Havalimani airport. This is now known as the worlds largest airport as of April 2019, at least it is intended to be the biggest airport in the world as the years pass and more travel comes via the new airport with the various extensions.

As of now, Istanbul Havalimani airport can handle 90 million travel passengers a year which doesn't actually make it the current biggest airport in the world. It will officially claim the title of the largest airport in the world once it continues to expand, the goal is 200 million passengers a year - which is almost 100 million more than the current largest.
Either way, very cool to wrap up our Turkey travel vlogs by going out via the soon to be biggest airport in the world! C ya Turkey!

Really enjoyed the Turkey vlogs - they had a different feel from your SE Asia videos but that's not surprising as you guys always immerse yourselves in the place you are staying. That airport is utterly mind blowing - the timings to locations within the airport would be really useful to us as my other half and my daughter always have to be hustled out of the duty free shops at the last minute :) That Guinness looked GOOD!!

Almost 30 minutes to walk from one side to the other, really massive but incredible they built it so quicklly. Can't wait to see it in person ourselves in a couple weeks! P.S. no priority pass lounge at the moment and no clue when there will be one!
I read that there will be 2 metro stations in the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020 connecting the airport to the main metro system
Such a shame there isnt a PP lounge yet! When there is one though it will be amazing no doubt :) Travel well when you go through, enjoy!

I once been to Istanbul before. At first, I somehow hated it, but then, over time, I missed it so much bc it’s a very beautiful place, so I wish I have been there again.
I think we can understand that, it's intense in parts but has so many hidden gems

I’m glad that they have very intense security at the new airport. They just had a bombing at an airport in Istanbul 3 years, so very recent. So it’s good they’re tightening things up. Hopefully that prevents anything like what happened in 2016 from happening again. Safe travels Daneger & Stacey! 👍🏻

Glad you've been able to catch up! We've seen a lot more of Singapore and would have to say its better than this one in Istanbul because of all the amazing services and cinemas etc... but only for now. This one is going to be a monster in years to come.

Ahh yeah KL is ridiculously cheap huh! Gotta love that place, then a Grab to town takes nearly and hour and is so cheap as well.
Its so good that there is uber and Airbnb in turkey. Uber no longer exists in athens greece.

Another great video, guys. Airport looks impressive; now I know what to expect when I pass thru later this year. Shame about your Uber ride, though. I always wait outside so my driver never has an excuse to cancel.
Waiting outside is a smarter option for sure! Will be interesting to see how much busier it is by the time you roll through later this year

My Turkish friend told me to be careful with the taxi , Uber driver, they Can pull tricks such As cancellation , not running the meter but charge thier own set price etc.
The old airport' s Metro level had a supermarket , Where u Can buy Turkish Delight @ Local price. I assume it won't be @ new airport . . .
Yeah we had a few run ins with taxis, but Uber seemed to be the safest. No supermarket prices at the new one, nope!
I'm in the US and in our airports the restaurants/shops are also very expensive. They must know that not everybody is rich lol. Great vlog, and looking forward to your next one!
Yeah man always seems to be the case in an airport isn't it, they know everyones stranded there and hungry and thirsty!

I love the airport of that airport
traveling can be stressful, i like to leave plenty of time between flight and my leaving so i normally schedule a late flight and dont mind hanging at the airport and do people watching for a few hours.

Nope - we just film in a higher frame rate so it's nice and crisp. 1080p at 50 or 60 fps

UBER is not technically legal in Turkey and the drivers have been beaten up by normal taxi drivers so thats why your driver might have left you. Great video! Safe travels

We were in Istanbul the day the new airport opened but we didn't fly in/out of it. Cool to see the inside! Definitely agree lot of security...I was a bit annoyed to get the full pat down when wearing spandex yoga pants and top meanwhile plenty of other people wearing flowy large dresses and extensive coverings not getting a second look. I was also asked to remove my allergy face mask before boarding (I had to wear it because of the horrible duty free section you mentioned - I'm allergic to perfume). No one else was asked to show their face.
@bm3racer A face mask is definitely a worthy reason to stop someone is security but I didn't put the mask on until after security!
Sounds like you had a bad run, sorry to hear that! Sometimes things just don't go to plan huh, hope you guys were able to just roll with it and enjoy the travel day..

Securities are tight on US, UK, Israel flights as per the requests of respective governments for the flights into their countries. All other flights are much better in terms of security tightness. just FYI
Does it connect with the metro? I'm planning to visit soon and would like to make the best of my 20 hour layover. Would like to see a few of the world famous attractions. Please advise. Thank you.
Sadly not. They built an enormous airport with barely any connections to get to it - taxi is the best option for now sadly.
Two metro lines connecting Istanbul Airport to the metro network are expected to open at the end of 2021.
