It's been 6 months now owning the Fujifilm XF 150-600mm and I think I have shot it enough to give a comprehensive comparison against the Fujifilm XF 100-400mm. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!!

I got the 100-400 but later got 150-600. My first thought was to sell the 100-400…..but I gave myself a month to decide. It turns out I still enjoy using the 100-400 coz it is 100 on the short end which is nicer for composing but also the lens is more compact in the bag so I don’t need a big back pack. So the 150-600 is mostly for birding. The 100-400 is for everything else.
I am in the same boat. I thought having the 1.4x convertor would be the same as using the 150-600, but is is not for me. I see a real case like yours for keeping them both, unless Fuji made an internal zoom 100-400... Just saying.....
O yes I did the same, got the 1.4x at first too. Totally agree with you it’s not the same. But the 100-400 is compact enough especially when I cycle.

Agreed. Looking forward to a new 70-300 F/4 lens with 150-600 video friendly design. 18-120, 70-300, 150-600 would be a great combo.

Yep, the XF 70-300mm is awesome!!! It along with the XF150-600mm and the 1.4 convertor is all you need.
Thanks for the video! Im gonna try to return my 100-400 i just bought and go with the 150-600 instead. I could grab the teleconverter... but then i'd just have an inferior version of the 150-600, for a higher price.
If you can rent it first do so. But u won’t be disappointed with the 150-600
I actually had the 70-300mm but sold it to get the 100-400. I was bothered by the plastic feel of 70-300mm lol. For me, the 100-400 could stay as is. What I want from fuji is 400mm f4😉

Glad you like the video. You will need flash to help you with with the f4.5 on the 100-400 . Most of the time you will need flash with the 50-140mm f2.8. Indoors at weddings.
Your comparison is a little weird. Some of the pluses you mention about the 150-600 are also available in the 100-400. For instance, both have linear motors. Also, making a MKII of the 100-400 with internal zoom would make it a lot bigger. For me, the choice mostly comes down to size difference. That 150-600 is massive. But then again, I’m not really into bird photography so I’m probably not the target consumer for that lens.
For me it is the focal length that is the big determining factor Do you need the reach of the 150-600mm. Also, don’t let the size of the 150-600mm fool you. It feels slightly lighter than the 100-400mm to me. A mkII of the 100-400mm built like the 150-600mm. may not be as big as you think.

In my experience having both the 100-400mm and the 150-600mm , you would prefer the internal zoom. It is more balanced and faster to focus than the 100-400mm. If the mkII was built the same way as the 150-600mm, it would be an awesome lens with great balance, shorter focus throw for the sports photography I do with it.
Before a second version of any of the zooms teles fuji needs to develop new tele primes. A 500mm f4 would be a better choice in my opinion.
That would be nice but very expensive and very specialized lens. Look at the 200mm. Very specialized and expense. I think a f8 or f5.6 will be better for cost.
I ordered the Tamron but cancelled after seeing stabilization in video. Real close to pulling the 150-600. Just wish it was a little faster. It’s 7.1 midway.
I love it, but if you can rent it, rent it.
