Great list and great variety! I don't have books for all the readathon prompts, but I've included a few books set in Asia on my tbr. I'm currently reading Only This Beautiful Moment by Abdi Nazemian (Iran/USA), and for May I've added Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi (Japan) and Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff (India). I also have Pachinko, As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow, and Kite Runner on my shelf, but there are many more months of the year to read from Asian authors so I'll get to them another time ^^ Almond sounds very interesting!
Good luck with you tbr, and have fun during the readathon! I will (hopefully) be reading Against the Loveless World by Susan Abulhawa (Palestine) All the Lovers in the Night by Mieko Kawakami (Japan) The House of Doors by Tan Twan Eng (Malaysia) Disorientation by Elaine Hsieh Chou (Taiwan) The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff (India) Almond is on my radar as well, and I need to read Khaled Hosseini soon as well. I read a graphic novel adaptation of The Kite Runner as a child but never one of his novels.
Thank you 😊 you too. Your tbr is very interesting. I'll need to check your Malaysia and Taiwan picks. Never heard of them. Khaled Hussein is one of my favourite authors. I hope you enjoy his books.
Ohhh myyyy! A Thousand Splendid Suns is one of my favourite books of all time too. Khaled Hosseini is AMAZING. Here are my book recs for Asian Readathon: 1. Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts: a tale of an escaped convict who lands into the vibrant streets of Mumbai. It's thrilling but also deeply philosophical. 2. Funny Boy by Shyam Selvadurai: The genre is Bildungsroman, and follows a young boy as he discovers and unravels Srilanka as a Tamilian during the times of increasingly civil disturbances b/w the Sinhalese and Tamilians. 3. Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Ma: An autobiography abt the experiences of a girl growing up in China with a family that doesn't value her.
Interesting readathon. I like reading books written by authors from different countries. But unfortunately living in Russia it is not easy to find books by asian (especially middle eastern) or african writers (except maybe from Turkey, Japan and South Korea).
@@rananajjar I don't see any specific reason. Maybe such kind of literature is not in demand here. About Russian literature, I am not sure which books are available in your country. From my favourite authors I could name Mikhail Bulgakov (The Master and Margarita, Heart of a Dog , A Young Doctor's Notebook) and Narine Abgaryan
My favorite book reviewer

Is there a specific reason why is that?
Could I also ask you to recommend me Russian books?
