You mentioned this might be designed for maybe 🤔 a certain group (age) . I just turned 71 and love the styling and colors of this bike., especially the black, yellow, and purple one. This should be another winner for RE. 👍👍

That's one stunning bike. It's a shame the years I lived in the UK, I never seen a Royal Enfield on the road. This bike and at this price point is a dream come true for any 18-20+ year old. I had seen many expensive sports bikes, but these low cost and still beautiful bikes are essential if we want the whole sport and bikes to still exist in the future and this is not gonna happen with expensive bikes young people can't afford.

CEAT tyres… "A relatively unknown brand in Europe"?…
You make me feel old (OK… I am old), but I can remember CEAT as a respected Italian tyre brand, though they're now made in India (nothing wrong with rubber from India. They grow the stuff🤣)… in fact CEAT opened their first factory in India in the late fifties (only a few years after Royal Enfield opened their Indian plant).

I’m with you on the rear lighting (1300gs), no stand alone rear brake light ?, I don’t know how that’s even legal in the UK. A lot of today’s cars have tiny led indicators that get lost when the brake lights come on and now sadly bikes are going the same way, dented rear end for the car and we all know the consequences for a biker. Great review, no BS just very informative 👍

Yes, and with a larger fuel tank, at least 5 extra litres please Royal Enfield. And a centralised instrument panel, not offset. Heated grips wouldn't go astray & wouldn't add much cost either. A decent luggage rack should go on the build list too. Royal Enfield could easily compete with the Suzuki V-Strom 250SX and the Kawasaki Versys-X 300. They know how to build a bike that's affordable, but they need to consider. The 450 Scram we envisage could fit nicely between pure road bikes and the dual sport / ADV-style models. Let's hope they do it and do it well.

Just bought a new Guerilla 450 and having a right mare trying to get it insured. I’m 64, clean licence (held since 1977), live in Mid-Sussex, keep bikes in locked brick built garage at my house, no claims, no offences but nearly all insurance providers are saying they can’t quote for the GRR, something to do with RE not yet having registered the new GRR with the ABI. Only managed to get two quotes, one for £595 (BikeSure) and one for £1,035!! (Bennetts). I currently have a multi bike insurance for my three current bikes, Hunter 350, Scram 411 and Interceptor, fully comp for £140. The multi bike insurance provider (Carole Nash) say they can’t quote for the GRR as ‘computer says no’. Any pointers or advice would be much appreciated. I’ve tried just about everywhere including MCN but vast majority say can’t quote and as mentioned above the only quotes I have received are a bit of a joke quite frankly. Thanks

I wish the tester would give some personal details so one can assess what the riding position would be for one self. Inside leg and height measurement is useful to gauge a riding position. Looking at the tester his knee angle is what I consider too sharp for me. If he is only 5'10" then at 6'1" my ankles would be touching the back of my ears. With a gammy knee this bike would be totally unsuitable for me although I do like the specs. This not just MCN but other reviewers of any bike also don't mention this aspect. Seat height is not the sole indication of knee angle.

Progress huh 😂 I’d bet the Honda was a great deal smoother.

Relatively cheap, Indian made 450 single, doesn’t quite have the same ring. The little Fantic weighs 150Kg with similar power and, in my view, looks far more individual, but you pay a premium for it. Have Triumph, or RE really moved the game along ? They both make a more competitively priced motorcycle, but both are much heavier. The first thing many do is to look at ways of reducing weight, increasing the power, or making it more individual-all at great cost. The Himalayan was both interesting by design, oddly capable both off and on road and cheap to boot, but this just looks like ‘we made one too’ it hardly exciting in the way of the new Aprilia 457, the CF Moto 450, or the 4 cylinder Kawasaki. It’s not a Honda 400 four, or a 350LC. It’s strangely depressing to realise that this bike stirs any excitement, I can’t remember much being said about a Honda Benly.
