Not sure which continental you are reffering to exactly but either way both were over 2L easily. I have the 535 (2015) and it was 29hp and that itself was 2.26 on road here, 390 that time was 2.34 on-road I think. The RE 650s came only in 2018 Dec I think and intercpetor itself was 2.8+ ex-showrom, GT was much more expensive. The cheapest 400 was the Domina0 (1.4-1.5L IIRC) r I think which came out in 2016, but that was again only 35ps or something initially. Cant think of any other bike other than 390 as of now. TBH, nowadays smaller bikes are getting more expensive, so bigger bikes don't feel that much out of reach as before.

Evaluated both and went ahead and booked a black Speed 400. Reasons:
    1. That city tractability was unbelievably good compared to anything else in its class. The acceleration felt almost EV-like in the city, which is huge praise if you want to close gaps quickly in traffic. Guerrilla is up there too, but the Triumph was better for me.
    2. Suspension- I hear what Rishaad is saying, and agree- but dialling preload up a couple of clicks on the rear helps settle it a bit more. Both sets of suspension are good, can't really go wrong with either.
    3. Fuel tank and range- Triumph's marginally better mileage and larger tank helps during touring.
    4. Looks- gotta say, I was quite smitten with the Guerrilla. Relegated this to a secondary requirement since both look quite nice in their own way.
    5. Costs- Triumph was cheaper to buy, running costs in terms of spares, simplicity of the bike itself, tyre size availability etc seemed better.
Can't go wrong with either, but the Triumph just edged out the Guerrilla for me.

Triump Speed 400 is very good, power hungry, responsible and agile. In a city like Bangalore, City mileage comes around 19-21. Highway milage comes to around 32-37 if we could maintain speed in the range of 80s. Yes stalling issues are there but getting improved with Updates. Bike behaves superb in highway and while riding fast. Not for city traffic.Very much satisfied with the Triumph Speed 400..

Considering the on-road price of the top end of Guerrilla @ 3,06,000, Speed 400 @ 2,70,000 - Chennai, I do not see much on offer for the additional 36K, in fact, Speed offers traction control and a standard warranty of 5 Years. In contrast, RE offers only 3 Years of standard warranty. The quality of the powder-coated paint of Guerrilla will start to peel off in no time based on previous experiences. Triumph Speed 400 has unmatched quality in its segment, is very tractable for city riding, and has a refined engine with most of the minimum safety features, hence it is still a VFM 👍

I knew the winner before even I saw thumbnail. if these autocar guys gives a comparision review and if a royal field is in that comparison then there is no need to fully watch the video because result will be the royal Enfield turning out to be the winner. These fools if given chance may even say guerilla is better than Triumph scrambler 1200... Yeah I know we should love our country India is great and everything but shouldn't always white-wash indian products especially royal enfields .... reviews need to be unbiased ,it has to be honest because at the end trust of consumers i.e viewers are important and as fellow Indians we should be truthful to each other. And it is not a shame to praise foreign products if they are deserving to be praised. Actually newer royal enfields are completely inspired from triumph. It's sad and also funny when some fools say triumph thruxton copied continental GT ,when continental gt and interceptor are completely inspired from triumph Bonnevilles ..

A few observations from my side:
    Regarding the RE Guerrilla:
    - Mud splash from the rear tire
    - No space for a pillion
    - No stock mounts for long riders/touring
    - Engine matte black color and switches fade very fast (possibly after a couple of washes or due to sunlight exposure)
    - After a few services, you'll notice an annoying noise from different parts that the service center can't rectify
    - Visible welding on certain parts
    - Headlight throw is very low
    - Exposure of radiator liquid filling cap
    - Rubber material on the suspension tears very soon due to sun exposure
You might find many more issues after you own this.
    Whereas with the Triumph:
    - Currently, I notice an instrument cluster variation of -10 KPH error
    - Revs higher but doesn't push as it revs due to a lower stroke compared to the RE Guerrilla
I have owned a Triumph for 2 months now, and before that, I had a Himalayan. I must say, comparatively, the Triumph is a good option in terms of reliability, riding experience, and cost.

Is engine vibration a far less important aspect than the look and feel of the bike 😅😢…. And the major problem is the chassis failure…. Whatever clarifications RE provides the new chassis is not build like a Gun… for me I would say these two aspects are the main things I would check my boxes on a highway ride… And when it comes to city ride Triumph is the far more better tractable bike and better responsive bike…. Even after all these aspects RE was picked for just the feel …. So I’m starting to doubt is Feel of the bike far greater than the overall package?

    • @Ajay.Saw88
      @Ajay.Saw88 2 месяца назад

For most people, look and feel matters the most. This is where RE excels. Just Look at their every bike, they're all about how they make people feel. It's a long game RE has been playing. moreover, in the digital age, this craze has been multiplied not just for the Bikes, but for all the materialistic things in the world people I want to possess in their life.

    • @aravindmanoharan2339
      @aravindmanoharan2339 2 месяца назад

Yes but after buying a thing just for looks wouldnt the comfort go and is it a better trade off…. Also RE is best for their worst after sales maintenance by their showrooms…. So basically a not so good engine with a lot of vibrations and coupled with a bad after sales maintenance from the dealerships all these negatives can be blown away just for the look and feel ….. I mean the priorities of things have changed I think ….. because 2.5 to 2.75 lakhs for this motorcycle considering these flaws is not a cheap money when the bike hits onroad…. After all looks are just looks it’s has nothing to do with how it performs… RE is surviving on mere look delivering sun standard products to customers …. No offense but it’s time to tell RE to rectify their flaws and not just keep repeating them… because it’s money at stake

Thanks for a good comparison. Two points that you missed. Firstly the Triumph has a much better turning cycle, which combine with its lower weight make manoeuvrability much better at low speed, town work, where moving around obstacles is important. Secondly, the Triumph also has a stand alone rear light/brake light compared with the Guerrilla where those functions are built in to the rear indicators. Both bikes seem to have flimsy indicators, and seemingly, as you mentioned, prone to condensation/leakage. I think that the Triumph 400 Speed builds on the styling of the bigger Speed Twins, whereas the Guerrilla is a departure from the heritage of Royal Enfield, for better or for worse. I suspect we will see more Classic Versions, for both marks at this size in the future, to cater for the older person returning to motorbikes or downsizing to smaller Mid-Range Classics, which offer less weight, but not a huge drop in performance and with increased fuel economy. Thanks again.

Took long rides of both and i tell you guys suspension of speed is lot lot better than RE. Neither the looks or the performance of suspension is good.
It is below average compared to 400-450 cc bikes. Autocar probably has taken a lot of money to highlight the suspension of RE as better suspension.
RE is very very fast and speed is very fast. RE top end is 165, speed is 160. But do we have that much clearance on road or highway? Vibration is lot lot more in RE compared to speed.
Bike influencers are doing the classic job. Demote little old bike very professionally to promote new bike without inviting abuses 😅

The Triumph looks better in my opinion and I hate the digital Speedo on the Gurrilla, what were RE thinking ? the analogue speedo on the triumph looks so much better, tft displays on bikes make them look ugly and cheap while I'd prefer a pure analogue clock on the Triumph without the digital screen which I think would have been better if they kept separate without shoving it into the analogue clock but it's still far nicer to have an analogue clock that just looks good.
In fact, the main reason I wouldn't buy the Guerrilla is due to the tft display but the triumph looks the best overall in my opinion but the main reason to get the triumph for me is the lovely looking analogue clock, a bike just doesn't look the same with analogue screen.

what one does better than the other isn't particularly done bad by the other. so if you had one, you wouldn't miss the other. it all comes down to brand preference, tbh, although that 11ltr tank on the RE Guerilla would be more prone to give anxiety much more often for those who keep checking their fuel gauges regularly. but then, 2 ltrs more on the triumph too isn't any significant advantage and that exactly is the point - it will most likely come down to brand preference for most.
