I had soooo much fun on my Scrambler 400 during Tapola ride last weekend. Great tractable engine, superb suspension. It handles well in the city traffic, handles well on the highway, handles well during cornering, handles well on soft-roads! This bike is just what i needed in my life! ;)

Took a test ride of the Scrambler 400X just today, felt so agile, so smooth. Even though I couldn't flat foot it (height 5'8"), I was so comfortable on the bike with a pillion and the throttle response was impressive as well. Didn't feel anything on the bumpy roads. Job well done by Triumph x Bajaj.
Finally the truth has been spoken. The Himalayan hype videos on RUclips from so many channels were getting a bit too much as everyone was lost in all the buzz created. I can always rely on PD to speak the truth and give a clean, unbiased review. I have taken an extensive test ride of both the bikes and the Himalayan left me unimpressed. Maybe it was all the hype surrounding it which made expect too much. A second test ride gave me clarity and as VP said this is primarily for touring. I found it too heavy and tough in the city and quite big as well. It's quite vibey as well which not many speak about. You also need to see if you can handle the weight while off roading, I'm no expert and I found it a bit difficult but its hardware will do wonders for those who can handle it. The Scrambler 400x on the other hand was a revelation. It blew me away and far exeeded my expectations. I didn't think it'll feel so light as it weighs the same as my Hness. I could not believe how fun it was and it just spoke to me. I could connect with it and ride it as I've been riding it for long. The only other bike that gave me such a feeling was the Adventure 390 when I first rode it but the 400X took it to another level. Also I always thought these high compression liquid cooled bikes would never have the low end torque like the big thumper engines from RE 350 series and this thought was solidified after riding the Himalayan 450. It felt like a KTM 390 if KTM put a lot of effort into improving the bottom end torque, yet not very tractable. The Triumph engine felt exactly what I wanted from the Sherpa 450. Look its no RE 350 bottom end but theres loads of it and the tractability is amazing, it can pull literally from any gear. After owning a KTM and then the Hness, I'm bored of the constant gear shifts while riding in the city so the 400x felt like a soothing ointment. I'm now waiting for the first batches to pass and see if any issues crop up as I've already suffered a lot of teething issues with my bikes due to my hasty decisions buying the all new Duke in 2017 and the all new Hness in 2021. Thank you PD and VP for this amazing video.
@@AMRITPALSINGH-xo6dz I've seen so many people switching from the Hness to the Scrambler 400X. Even on the teambhp forum 2 people already have and many more are interested. @@harshraj5514 it means the Himalayan is good for a specific set of people who want to use it mostly for touring with some off road riding as well. Such people should also be ok with the weight and the vibes but they are also rewarded with arguably the best suspension. Also everyone needs to keep in mind that these are tube type tyres and repairing a puncture on such a heavy bike while on tour at an unknown location can become a nightmare. If you're ok with the these and some niggles that crop up on a new gen RE then you'll be happy with the bike. @@powerdriftofficialWhat about the chassis break in the new Triumph Speed 400..? Is the chassis the same in both bikes. Scrambler 400X and speed 400..? I am planning to choose between Himalayan and Scrambler
As bro said genuinely, those who are look for 90% off road and 10% on road will go for Himalayan, those who are looking for 30% on road, 30% off road, 30% high way tour, will come to scrambler, beauty, built is great in triumph...
@@bhanuprakash7440 Nope, nothing, the bike feels really good to ride around the city and I wish if triumph gave a more comfortable seat for the speed 400 and slightly shorter handle bar with option of swapping the bar end mirrors
Great review & actually it's quite fair to put these up against each other. I've been scratching my head for a few months now over these two bikes, but alas neither have reached the UK yet. I think as an everyday bike I'd prefer the triumph, but I do have some adventures planned so for that the Himalayan is the better choice. Having said that, my adventures will be the B roads and byways of mostly the UK and avoiding motorways like the plague and it seems the scrambler would be very capable of that?. On the other hand, the much larger petrol tank on the Himalayan means fewer pit stops and would do better at carrying luggage so would i be happy living with it as an everyday bike?. I can't afford two bikes so I do have to choose one or the other.
Bingo Max. The Scrambler should do the job really well. As far as luggage capacity goes, the Triumph should be able to handle saddle bags with a saddle stay in place. We also suggest a test spin of both these motorcycles. Should clear those final doubts out.
I have taken a test drive on both... In the end it boils down to your preference and the bike which feels better to you... I personally liked the Himalayan more... The triumph ergonomics was too upright and the brakes felt soggy vs Himalayan...That said both of them are VFM.. I booked the Himalayan today and looking forward to riding it soon..
"soggy" is an understatement. I took test ride of both bikes back to back since both showrooms were next to each other in gurgaon. I was shocked how bad the brakes were on triumph. And also they give a "test ride" of barely 2kms so cant say much about handling. But Himalayan felt a much better product overall. I liked its engine better as well as comfort and brakes felt just as good and My GT650.
Bought a Scrambker 400X. Since I dont do hard off raoding as one needs to realky search for surch terrains now, soft off road capability is all what I need. The brand value, built quality and the fit and finish keeps me looking at it and feel happy alwqys. The sound is realky great and and how it manners ovee the twisties is so good. About the Hinalayan, I know it a vwell capable bike offraod, but the bulk, the unrelability and the lack of allay wheels made me fall for the scrambler X. But the Himalayan is worth eveey bit if your purpose suits it.
I felt both have several deal breakers, at least for me. Scrambler: Short wheelbase Pillion have no space. Even foot pegs are way closer No Windshield Overall very small looking for a 4lakh price tag. ( Presence is bit better than speed 400) Analogue Tacho would have made sense. They went the other way. Feels less suitable to load with several baggages for long tour programs. Himalayan have all these, but lack tubeless tires. Even it comes, will come with a hefty price tag. RE engines and Vibrations are inseparable. Test ride vehicle had vibes, high tappet noise just after few months since launching. I would not hesitate to book a yamaha or honda, if they come up with their reliable engines in a huge body like himi even with slightly heavy price tag.
Thank you for the Video comparing these two Motocycles. That Video isn't boring and shows me the Image of the modern India. When the 452 is available in my Homecountry I will do a Testride. I hope this will be soon Fact in Germany. I fear that the Himalayan will be the Winner for Touring. 😉
I completely agree with your conclusion. I took a test ride is 400x and it is so agile and quick, that I'm not able to convince myself to test ride h450. I didn't like the weight management of h411 at all. While I'm 6'1", i like my bikes lightweight, agile and reliable.
@@JoeMama-rr6pt 400x looks decent, not small. I took pics also. But only from looks and proportions standpoint, h450 might look better because it is longer.
I think both the motorcycles is perfectly made for serve their purpose.. As I have dream of doing hardcore off Roading, I have been looking for adventure machine in my budget, thank so much RE for Himmy 450. I hope in near future they will keep improving this machine.
The fact here is Himalayan 452 may be a good offroader but most of the time 70% - we will use it for commuting and in tarmac road and 30%-40% it will be the potholes and bad ,broken , mild offroading , so mostly in traffic here we have the good low end torque and reliability in Scrambler 400x which is missing in RE . And also look wise scrambler 400x turns the head towards . So the wise choice would be Triumph Scrambler 400X. We all know this 😊
I would choose the RE Himalayan because it looks badass (I really like the looks of the RE) and the practicallity over the Triumph. With Triumph and all other scramblers it is they want to go everywhere and the RE Himalayan can go everywhere. It does not pretend to be, IT IS the bike. As said, I would choose the RE in a heartbeat.
Practicality n Tubed rims should not coexist. Please get your rims changed whenever RE comes with tubeless option. One more reason why you see very few ktm 390 adv sw on roads.
I think the Scrambler 400X does for me.. Regular commutes and occasional highway trips or coffee rides is what my course of riding is filled with.. I'm 6 feet 1 inch and 85kgs.. Scrambler is more comfortable than Speed 400, and it also has the better presence on the road.. I don't find the need for a Himalayan ❤

@powerdriftofficial I'm on a '24 KLX300 right now. Great bike but I LOAD IT. The Himmy is everything I need and want, now. But of course I'll keep the KLX.
After riding my Scrambler 400x for over 2000km, I test-drove the Himalayan 450. While it's good, it doesn't match the fun factor of the Scrambler. The major plus point the Scrambler has is its handling - nimble and agile. For me, the clear winner is the Triumph Scrambler 400x!
I own speed 400 and rode scrambler 400x recently. Yet to ride mighty Himalayan. But as far as experience with Scrambler 400X i feel its more agile, commited and fun to ride. I can use it as daily city riding as well as long highway rides. On the other hand Himalayan will feel difficult on daily city ride no matter how much experienced rider you are. There is no comparison between them as both are built for different purpose. The engine, suspension, gear box, clutch are very good for Scrambler 400X and its a good buy in the price range. Himalayan with the new engine and bigger wheels are a plus point in harcore offroading and long highway ride.

Absolutely
What a comparison! PowerDrift is back !
🙌🙌🙌
Himalayan ☝️ upgraded on the features and 👇 downgraded on looks! Perfect review! Tnx! ♥️
Glad you liked it
Proud owner of the speed 400, happy with the bike riding it regularly to and fro from college and other work ❤🎉
Happy to hear! :) Be safe.
Did you face any niggles with the bike
Should clear those final doubts out.
best comparison I've seen until now, subscribed btw.
Thanks for the sub and welcome to PowerDrift
Taking the delivery tomorrow for scrambler, thanks team PD for perfect time flr this video
Have fun!
Great choice...I got mine on Friday 😁

What is your suggestion bro Himalayan 450 or scrambler 400x???
I have taken a test drive on both... In the end it boils down to your preference and the bike which feels better to you... I personally liked the Himalayan more... The triumph ergonomics was too upright and the brakes felt soggy vs Himalayan...That said both of them are VFM.. I booked the Himalayan today and looking forward to riding it soon..
Congratulations. The Himalayan is a fantastic product too.
The Himalayan is the perfect motorcycle for Ecuador where I live.
Sitting comfort is way better in 400x compared to Himalayan
Both are equally good
Like VP said, both the motorcycles are very comfortable
Can you share link for the helmet you weared…thankyou😊
That's the KLIM Krios
Bought a Scrambker 400X. Since I dont do hard off raoding as one needs to realky search for surch terrains now, soft off road capability is all what I need.
The brand value, built quality and the fit and finish keeps me looking at it and feel happy alwqys. The sound is realky great and and how it manners ovee the twisties is so good.
About the Hinalayan, I know it a vwell capable bike offraod, but the bulk, the unrelability and the lack of allay wheels made me fall for the scrambler X.
But the Himalayan is worth eveey bit if your purpose suits it.
Good summary there :)
triumph is my new bikee
thanks for clearing my doubts 🙏❤
Cheers Adnan.
I felt both have several deal breakers, at least for me.
Scrambler:
Short wheelbase
Pillion have no space. Even foot pegs are way closer
No Windshield
Overall very small looking for a 4lakh price tag. ( Presence is bit better than speed 400)
Analogue Tacho would have made sense.
Good summary and in line with what we have mentioned. But neither Honda or Yamaha will come this affordable.
Answer is cb350 hness
scrambler is 3 lakh motorcycle though unless you from banglore then every bike is overpriced.
I testdrive both of these . Bought honda 500x .
Give a hand to the editor 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yaayyyy
Maybe the Tiger 400 will come with Cruise control and heated grips. Next year maybe? Who knows.
Maybe
Maybe not!
Thank you. Rightly said, the Himalayan is a winner when it comes to touring. BTW, nice ride you got there.
I completely agree with your conclusion. I took a test ride is 400x and it is so agile and quick, that I'm not able to convince myself to test ride h450. I didn't like the weight management of h411 at all. While I'm 6'1", i like my bikes lightweight, agile and reliable.
Bang on with the explanation Abhishek.
Abhishek does it feel or look small on you...Am 6ft 2 and confused between the two...
@@JoeMama-rr6pt 400x looks decent, not small. I took pics also. But only from looks and proportions standpoint, h450 might look better because it is longer.
Proportion wise himmy suits better for 6+ height ratio i guess
@@abhishekdanej but it doesn't look small like the speed 400 right?
A great video i needed 🤝🏻
Glad to hear it!
PD army ❤
Assemble!
I hear the Triumph Punch-in at 3:24 and pass a nod to your Audio Guy!
I hear your edit buddy! Nicely done!
Bwahaha! Coming from a sound guy :D
🤣🤣🤣😇🤣🤣🤣
I think both the motorcycles is perfectly made for serve their purpose.. As I have dream of doing hardcore off Roading, I have been looking for adventure machine in my budget, thank so much RE for Himmy 450. I hope in near future they will keep improving this machine.
The Himalayan is brilliant off-road. Just too too good.
Jhaatu bike hai😂
Excellent review and commentary evaluation.
Gord
Glad you enjoyed it!
We all know this 😊
We definitely know where you are headed :)
Very nice comparison. Thanks.
Cheers. Hope you have subscribed to our channel.
Not a bad choice at all.
Practicality n Tubed rims should not coexist. Please get your rims changed whenever RE comes with tubeless option. One more reason why you see very few ktm 390 adv sw on roads.
2:50 : BINGO : that's what Bunny Punia also said in his series of comparo vids : the VIBES in the HIMMY are a deal breaker :-(
The vibes for VP aren’t a deal breaker. The tubelesss tyres are.
Brilliant video and a comparison we all have been waiting for! Thanks PD!
P.S. love the honest trailers style opening 😛
Glad you enjoyed it!
for me it's Scrambler 400x❤
Way to go.
I booked triumph 450 x scrambler ❤❤
It's a 400, not 450
@@leeinwis oh sorry yes it’s 400 🙏🏻😊
Update@@SOLORIDEFORPEACE
I think the Scrambler 400X does for me.. Regular commutes and occasional highway trips or coffee rides is what my course of riding is filled with.. I'm 6 feet 1 inch and 85kgs.. Scrambler is more comfortable than Speed 400, and it also has the better presence on the road.. I don't find the need for a Himalayan ❤
There you go!
The tubeless spoke wheels on himalayan is the icing on the cake.. love for both the bike ❤
Oh for sure.
Best comparison 👌👌👍👍
Glad you think so!
The potential buyer needs to ask themselves of what (and where) they intend to do with their motorcycle prior to purchasing.
Excellent review, you‘ve got me hooked!!! Such 🔝 quality production vlog 👍🏽
For those interested;
Trumpet‘s retailing round €6,500 in Germany
Himmy (tubeless!) roughly €6,450 🇩🇪 price
Thanks for a mind blowing (and opening) review 🙏🏽

What have you shortlisted bud?
Best comparison of the two beautiful bikes. 👍
Thank you ❤️
finally the video from PD that we all been waiting for.
Oh yeahhh! Good morning :D
I got the opportunity to test drive both this machines, I found Scrambler more reliable and what an engine, one ride made a fan❤
Reliability is a long term aspect but we are glad to know you liked it.

The Himalayan all day long.
I too will prefer scrambler, and what an entertaining video ❤
Thank you bud :D Happy New Year
Yes. I bought Honda NX 500

I have seen 4:36 sec and I'm impressed 👌
The suspension on the Himalayan is world class.
Thank you so much but I'm impressed by the quality of your content ❤
Painter never disappoints!
VP appreciates this comment :)
Just a thought how about we get a spoke wheels on the scrambler, will it do the job like an Himalayan ?
Nope. Its the suspension setup too. The Himalayan is too too good.
Engine wise which one is best?
We like the 400X more
@@powerdriftofficial thnkz ❤
I watched a video(falconrider) where he posted picture of a broken frame of a Scrambler 400. Yes, the swingarm broke in two halves! The owner didn't even go off road. I can forgive a broken clutch lever, pedal, mirror, but broken frame? I changed my mind to get Honda 350.
Yes! We read about that and we have spoken about it in the comments section too. Just to reiterate, a swingarm breaking into two is very unusual. More info is awaited. :)
@@powerdriftofficial Reminds us of the early iterations of the RE 411. Liked your presentation.
Great job by camera team, editor and presenter. Great job by RE and Triumph. In fact, great job by everyone!!!
Cheers! So happy to read such +ve comments. Hope you have subscribed to our channel.
Scrambler’s drl looks like a headphone ……. Which i just noticed and of course looks very cool….. infact so cool that at times i had to go 10 seconds back on the video because i was busy 👀 at the headlight 😄
Hahhahhaa! Now we cannot unsee it.
20% city, 50% highway(bfast ride) 20% touring and 10% off-road which bike will u guys prefer?
50% highway? Himalayan!
Great content as usual.. I've booked a scrambler.. expecting delivery in a week or so.. felt that I've made the right choice after watching this video.. thank you..
Have fun! Be safe :)
💯 down for the Himmy. My next bike.
Lets gooooo!
@powerdriftofficial I'm on a '24 KLX300 right now. Great bike but I LOAD IT. The Himmy is everything I need and want, now. But of course I'll keep the KLX.
I rode both extensively and brought Himalayan. It's a wonderful ride. Both engines heatup may be there is threshold for overheating defination
The dissipation shouldn't bother you. Every motorcycle will heat.
@@powerdriftofficialyes coming from TBTS500 it's on par
I’m buying the scrambler, thanks for this
Hope you enjoy it!
@@powerdriftofficial thanks! Changed my mind for the Honda Cb500x 2 weeks ago.
Which one would you recommend for highway riding??
Himalayan over Scrambler.
Scram vs Himalayan lovely thanks powerdrift !!
Cheers Sagar. Hope you enjoyed it.
+1 all the way.
Very well said. Thanks for the comment.
Great video. As my riding is all on the road I'll go for the Scrambler. I also prefer its looks and finish.
Cheers!
If I buy the Himalayan, I'll wait till the tubeless spoked wheels are available. Hopefully by then the Himalayan issues should be sorted out.
Perfect.
