Hey Johnny, I am a retired tool and die maker/model maker of 42 years. I created many working models on manual machines. You have taken my trade to the next two levels. When you had a problem, you figured it out, CNC machined a part and put it in place. Damn Good Job!!
I was hurting pretty bad after finding out about rc sparks chucking in the towel today. This lifted me big time . I’m a nearly 50 RC nut and have been for years. Buggies trucks cars on and off road. Your attention to detail is spot on. Great build my friend thank you for sharing with us. Big shout from the uk.👍👍👏👏🏁🏁
Congratulations my friend, I am amazed by the amount of tools to make your works, among them this saw, the point marker to start a hole, thread making tool, etc ... But it is no use having all these tools without a creative imagination, I like your videos, I always see something new that I should study. Leandro.
Praise our monthly dose of mechanical asmr ! Ps : Holly shit this thing felt fast on the first throttle input, but i maybe the clutch burnt really quickly, because at the end it looked slower, but maybe this is just me
It's a little of column A and a little of column B. The composite clutch Johnny used would go up in smoke in a flash on an engine this torquey no matter what, but he also did not gear up. This car was meant for an engine revving to 35-40 thousand RPM. This 4-cycle will be lucky to hit 15K under load. Pretty sure Toyan specs out their valve springs to act as governors; valve float right around where they say it revs to since that tends to be where every single one of their SOHC 4-strokes stops pulling even when there's no load on it. He needs to add a metal clutch to the car, tune that clutch to engage around 4500RPM, and then add somehwere around 8-12 teeth to both bell gears. He makes those three changes and this car will probably be faster both off the line and top end than it was with its original two stroke.
Yea happy to see its a proper muffler this time as opossed to the expansion chamber type he had used a few times before. Since this has valve an expansion chamber doesn't really do anything. What you really want are baffles or maybe a glass pack or something.
I finally realized why I was so confused while you were making the exhaust. When you put the pipes in the flange, I was expecting you to say “press fit” like we do in the US, and thought you were actually using a different process! Amazing work btw!
Dear, just seeing your whim in making these pieces with great care gives us pleasure. I am an engineer and I am delighted with your work. You are very good at what you do. How wonderful! It's addictive to see you do this. I want a toy like this to spend my days. Congratulations from your Brazilian fan!
This build is insane! Since the tgx used to be a racing chassis back to its time, it would be so interesting to see it running on a real rc track. Great job!
That securing the two parts together part, where you called it riveting sort of, that process is called roll staking. Even though your staking tool didn't have rollers I believe this is still called roll staking 👍 sick work dude
I can't wait for him to get the clutch and the gearing sorted out and let us see what these little twins can do when they're set up properly! Makin' me want to do a build like this too. Was planning on putting one in a crawler, too, but now iono...
You are a brilliant and inspiring engineer. Your work makes me stare in wonder. I’m flummoxed why anyone would give this vid a thumbs-down. What would meet their standard!?
I really wish that was JQ90’s own music. I heard on other videos and felt betrayed cause when I 1rst heard it here It made the experience complete. Yea I’m over here jamming out to the last 10 seconds on repeat. Manual repeat. Thank You Mr. Q90
Man I just love watching your videos and watching you create something. Phenomenal work as always my friend. Id love to see it on a street. Are you not allowed to even go outside your house, that's terrible. Thankfully they didn't do that here in the states. Maybe Cali but not here in the southern East coast. North Carolina. You make this look so easy. You should make another awesome radiator. Can't wait to see what's next
It's probably holding back because of the exhaust. It's not allowing enough flow (too much back pressure) try slightly larger pipe. Like 1mm at a time. Same design. Maybe see if there's any restricting tubing inside the muffler too. This thing will be quick!!! Amazing build 👌✌️
It'd be pretty cool to see this whole assembly get put inside a Group B car shell. The exhaust pipes snaking over the engine and the dual upper pulleys on the engine just made me think that all of this looks very Group B.
You need to make a tiny chassis dynamometer next to diagnose the drive line problems and use actual numbers to tune your cars. That would be a really good project.
Nice. One note: you might want to mess around checking your EGT's for each cyl. This setup will likely produce a very uneven intake flow. You will probably be better off with a split intake manifold and a carb on each end.
Best build yet! I love this setup! I think i would polish the inside of that intake for torque. maybe check the flat plane of the intake manifold? Make sure there's no leak between the engine & manifold? Only other thing it could be is clutch or gear ratio imo. Awesome skills bro! 👍 Project Idea: An all aluminum 1/6 scale made from scratch AWD 2 or 3spd Disk brakes Water cooled Toyan 4 Cylinder Supercar class
Dude I always forget that I am subscribed so every time you upload is a nice surprise, I'm currently passing through a very tough time and almost gave up on engineering but your videos kept me going.
@@marcialdospuforini1197 They still use nitro engines for speed records etc. The brushless for the accelaration till it can't speed the car up any faster, than the nitro 2 stroke engine kicks in its poweband to speed it up even more. The problem with the gas engines is that they need a clutch, gears and they have a powerband where the engine produces most torque. Brushless motors have the same torque over the whole rpm range. Gas engines can have more power than electric motors, but they are not always in their powerband, so the electric seems (and is) faster, while the brushless motor produces less power, because the gas engine producess more peak power which isn't really usable.
I'm thinking it might be slipping because the clutch is probably designed for much higher revving motors. Meaning the clutch is probably still shy of the outwards pressure it needs to fully bind... If that's the case, you can try adding weight to the shoes or use weaker springs at a pinch, so that it throws outwards with more force at lower rpms.
Looks like the TGX comes equipped with ball differentials. If they are too loose, they will act as a clutch, making you lose power. You can probably tighten them through the outdrive so you can put your power down!
This guy puts more love and dedication into his toys than I put into my life.....
Yep, same here

You should make a website selling tuning parts for these engines haha. Tuning STONKS
That sounds so much better than a normal petrol RC car!
You need to start selling and do some production!! I'll definitely buy them!
To sell them he would need certification eg CE for Europe ,others elsewhere. Those lab tests aren't cheap
This is hands down one of the best videos I've seen on RUclips. 👍
