  • Or lam is a very traditional Lao stew from Luang Prabang. This is my take at showing you my Or lam recipe Lao beef stew. It is made with many signature Lao ingredients like mai sakhaan chili wood, padaek unfiltered fish sauce, Lao basil lemon basil, and dill! Most of these ingredients can be found at Southeast Asian markets. Unfortunately, the mai sakhaan is only found in Laos.

Ate this sooo much growing up. One of the Lao dishes you don't really appreciate until you get a little older just like Giang Naw Mai (bitter bamboo soup). Thanks for the Video Saeng!

I just love this dish. Rarely do Lao restaurants have this in their menus. Definitely worth the effort.

This dish and ant egg soup is what I always think of when remembering my Lao travels. I’ve always wondered what was that special flavour, which the sakhaan offers, amongst so many interesting herbs/ingredients. Thank you for posting this recipe.
