The most impressive thing is how you remember all these plant names. I'm just getting into landscaping and I can't even remember the names of the plants I threw in last week. Lol. Love this channel tho. I felt kinda corny as a younger dude getting into gardening but watching someone like you that dresses and talks similar as I do makes me feel better! Haha. Southside Chicago tuning in!
It helps when you make vids because you’re having to say the name multiple times then watch it back when editing. But yeah there’s no need to feel corny if anything knowing about the natural world makes you more interesting. People live their whole lives without knowing what type of flowers are growing in their yard. Thanks for showing love tho I’m glad you found the channel!!
@@paulplantu yessir. My bar days are done. Just hit 30. Engaged. Got a son . And just bought a house a few years ago. Landscaping/ gardening been keeping me sane somedays 😆
@@jheiny1231 he has a main channel that might interest you as well...it's called @Paul Cantu
Once you get super interested and start working with all types of plants and are always around them your gonna end up remembering everyone’s names😭
earth is my plonett
And remember "Earth is my planet" and "Earth girls are easy" 🌿🌺☘️🌺🍀🌺
Been following you for a FAT MINUTE now and love how you just do you and stay genuine, inspiring myself and others to get to the garden… uncle who passed away couple years back left 15 acres “Palm Springs area” it’s just dry and barren so it’s hard to grow stuff but I’m determined to get it going and create a “food forest” 🧡🙏 much love paul
You definitely need to grow a lot of native desert plants that don’t need too much water and get some native desert trees up to create shade and drop leaves to add organic matter to the soil. Fruit that could grow there easily would be like date palms, prickly pear cactus, maybe Peruvian apple cactus, and citrus. You definitely can grow stuff there just do research on natives for that area! Good luck and thanks for the comment
@@paulplantu thanks for the comment and info Paul 🙏 much love
You can make tea out of the Loquat leaves while it isn't bearing fruit yet! It takes about 3 years for the plant to produce the fruit.
Loquats are 10/10 in my book. Grandmother's neighbor had a YUUUGE tree growing up, and I would CONSTANTLY be over in their yard eating right off the tree. Big seeds, but delicious fruit.
I really appreciate your down to earth attitude. You're chill and hype all at the same time. You've really inspired me for my yard. I'm starting from scratch and the whole yard is full sun!!
Mine if full sun too.. I wish I had a littl shade for some pretty hostas, but there are lots of great plants and flowers that are full sun. Good luck with the new garden
Full sun is awesome you’re pretty much unlimited on what you want to plant and everything will have energy pumping through it! I’m glad you’re getting started.
@@nolagirl7082 Is there a side of your house by the wall that stays shaded or by a fence maybe? I bet you could find a little space to grow some hostas.
What!? An owl sitting in your tree during the day time! That's so cool! And the one you thought would eat your soul 😂😂😂 I love your sense of humour and style in combination with your happiness, gardening skills and amazing memory! Love from a colder place - Sweden /Martina
Thank you so much for the support, I really appreciate it!!
It's nice to find a gardener who is also in Houston! I'll be watching your other videos now that I know about you.
you are doing a great job. my suggestion to you would be plant some annuals to help fill in ground space. Impatiens would do well in your filtered sun/ part sun areas. there are also some called Sunpatiens, that can take full sun in some areas. if it gets extremely hot where you are, maybe plant some in a mostly sunny/part shade area. also get some Proven Winners brand superbells petunias. they grow and spread well plus they bloom profusely. i know you are doing a perennial garden and thats great, but sometimes you just need some annuals to fill in open areas or bare spots. lol good luck buddy.
Garden Answer WHO?! Earth is my plaanet! Always love these videos! Keep them coming!
Everything looks great.. vibin’ and thrivin’
Your yard is incredible! I want to put fruit trees in my backyard. I guess I have to break down and do it😆😆
I hope this channel takes off like your main one day.
Never miss a video fr
Thank fam, that's love! This channel is growing a lot right now which is awesome!
Me too
Main channel?
@@tyraezekiel9293 yeah it’s called “Paul Cantu”. He makes videos about thrifting and fashion over there.
fruit trees from the nursery have energy enough to grow in less than perfect conditions, but over time that may change
Paul Plantu a man of the people!!!!!
Loquats score a 10 on the deliciousness scale. Hardy and yummy!
Wow! Hard work paid off. Keep up the great job. Can’t wait to see what it will look like for Summer. TY!
You've done a great job Paul! I've been following you since the beginning of this channel and the progress in your garden is amazing! Keep up the great job! Much love from Greece!
Thank you so much, yeah I may do a full makeover video of everything I did in the back. It was a ton of work from where I began. Hahaha
I am a subscriber to his main channel, and I was so stoked that he started this channel!!! Been watching since day one of this channel💕💕💕
You are very good at this gardening most definitely have a green thumb 👍
@14:30 damn that Moringa is one of the most nutritious plant out there. its fruit is hella good as well
Just watched your tour. Your garden looked amazing and I'm sure it still is. The geek in me has to tell you though, that the plant that you're pronouncing as "tie" (Hawaiian Ti or Good Luck Plant) is actually pronounced "tee". They will grow in lower light situations but because they don't like it, they will lose some or all of the color variegation and can even start turning green. Also, watch out having blackberries in the ground. They are hell to remove and they're VERY invasive. They can travel long ways under the ground to pop up in your foundation or other places you don't want them. Much better if contained in a large pot. My neighbor's plant traveled under the fence and up under our spa to get up into the motor over 20ft away. Good luck with your garden. It really does look very nice.
Lol "my tongue hurts " thank you for the video
I’ve been looking for videos for Houston. Thank you 🙏🏽
I’m starting my garden. So excited to see what happens.
Looks nice!
Looking good
yeeeeeeeeeeee Love it Even got your dogs helping out
Loving the back yard!
Let's gooooo Paul plantu with more dope vids!
I love your doggos ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yo bro this is some dope content! Thank you.
Everything is looking so good. I love the circle area with the bricks. I like Virginia creeper and it is growing in my yard.
I am in 9a and my moringa is growing very well.
Wow, I love your garden is so damn beautiful. 🌺🌸🏵🌻🌼
Nice garden
First video of yours that I’ve seen and subscribed as soon as you described the coreopsis as bussin 😆
Love this channel. Thank you Paul
Not a hawk but a Peregrine falcon, one of the fastest birds, love those dudes
It's a red shouldered hawk, Buteo lineatus.
Your garden is beautiful! Such a great start to the season. I can see you put a lot of work and love into growing! I also have a backyard garden it’s the start of my 3 year now but there is still so much to learn and I appreciate your tips, tricks and visual presentation. I looks forward to learning more from each other as we grow!
Super underrated, love the plant content from you!
I'm in love 😍Your garden is amazing! I am really happy I found this video. Loved the tour! Subscribed and looking forward to seeing more of your videos! Love your attitude and style too! Pretty impressive you can remember the names and how to ID all those plants. Really good video. 💯
For those palm tree seedlings put bananas peels and or epson salts .
Nice garden. I love the non-straight beds and circle beds! Wow those Irises are beautiful!! Every year I add another bed or two! My new pond is this years work in progress. Keep taping the videos as I love your ideas!
Great video homie
Beautiful flowers!! You might want to check those apple tree buds. I could be wrong but they looked like there was aphids or another infestation.
Dr. Plantu you need that rain Everything looks great👏👏✌️🫶 Blue healer and the blondie are super sweet 💪👊
Great garden! I’m in the 9a too. The moringa would thrive in full sun. Mine is at 20ft in just 3 mths growth, it could definitely handle relocation to a sunny spot. Once it takes off it will grow so fast.
Beautiful garden , i have mine but in containers , here in Houston
Loquats are good! They kind of remind me of a grape meets lychee.
Hi new subscriber here! Love your videos! Loquats are delicious! I highly recommend you try it when your tree fruits. They taste like a cross between a grape and a pear. Just watch out for the large seed in the middle! 😊
let's get it baby
How do you remember all those names of plants? Very impressive ! Please keep showing in the summer 💜💜
Hi Paul. The gardens coming along nicely. Wish I had green fingers. I've tried loads of plants. But they still manage to die on me. Who knows maybe I'll try in a few years time. from UK
Shout out ranger for participating in the mission tomatoes are delicious
Nice job
Thanks G
You really love plants! Love your enthusiasm. Don't worry too much about all the human plant haters. I have noticed before there is a significant population of people who somehow think plants are like Little Shop of Horrors - one minute a baby plant, the next crushing your house. Thank goodness plant people can tell this is not how plants work.
I have moved through many phases of plants and now am mostly interested in edible plants and a good ecosystem for the insects in the garden. I remember the schedules I had when I was growing roses traditionally and orchids. Now I do much less work just letting nature do its thing in the garden. All I do is collect seeds and plant them.
another awesome vid, def got enough space for a big pond breed some fish to eat lol
I do have space I just don't want my kid to fall in and drown.
That was the biggest Lantana I've ever seen.
Whhaaaat Im in Houston too but Im out in the country 🤗🧘🏾♀️
🔥🔥
Palm trees have super sensitive root systems and don’t like to be transplanted! Might be why :)
Love all the salvaging and reclaiming. The thrift god stays thrifty even in the yard. Garden's looking fierce. Lemme schnack on dem jalapenos tho
Happy late earth day !
Can you do a video on how to propagate plants??🔥
*Some of us are Dogwood's*
Where do you recommend buying fruit trees in the Houston area? Any local places recommendations?
Love your Food Forest. It looks great. I live just southeast of Houston...so not far away. I also have 2 PawPaw trees planted. This is their second spring and this spring one of them had 2 blooms. They are very different from any bloom I had ever seen before. No fruit since they are so young. If you haven't already, check out "David the Good" channel. He is really into food forest and has completed 2 in Florida and wrote books about his experiences. Best of luck and I will continue to follow your progress. Abundant Gardening to you!
Awesome tour, looking great! Can you grow strawberries in Houston? They spread super fast as groundcover.
How much sun do your strawberries require? I am in need of ground cover and strawberries would be awesome!
@@amycortez3289 mine produce most fruit in full sun, but i live in a very cool climate. In somewhere like Texas maybe partial shade would work.
@@joezimmerman1089 That's kind of what I was thinking. I've noticed a lot of plants that say full sun are really partial shade down here.
What color stain did you use on your fence?
Make chicken tinola with your moringa.
I love these videos even more than the thrift videos lol
GREAT CONTENT!!!! Love everything you have. its hard trying tomato sound rude. Can you chill with the camera? lol making me a tad bit dizzy... 😅
Beautiful garden
My avocado died 😢. Interesting fact urinating in your compost heap helps it break down!!
Hahaha, if I’m standing on the compost bin pissing I’ll probably catch a case. 🤣
earth is your plonet? i dont get that at all dude... loving your yard though
What's Up Paul 🌻☘️🪴
Yeah dude that's totally a Mexican fan palm when I built Mt house the landscapers put 3 in my front yard but I was told they were chinese fan palms but they grew a lot until my friend told me those are not chinese fan palms they are Mexican fan palms now they are 60 feet tall!
I can’t even grown a pot with seed lol
I’m a dogwood
just transferred my weed seedlings outside today
LEZZGOOOOOO
Mine which are Larry's are waiting til veggies get done

Im boutta plant some gas plants 🪴
Hahahahahahaha, I need to do that too.
You're Fezco from Euphoria if Fez chose a life of gardening instead drugs.
Never watched the show but thanks…?
@@paulplantu it's a compliment hahaha you should watch, it's great.
y ur so handsome? y im beginning to fall in love paul? its ur fault :D :D coz ur so handsome ♥♥♥ LOLS :D ♥
You got the same amount of plants as you do tee shirts 👕 😢 😭 😢 😭
No. You were there to inspire me, you and a couple of others, there seems to be a real toffee-nosed insensibility... I reached out to send you free plants, no answer, maybe I didnt come off the way I wanted, and haven't seen you comment a lot, other people we reached out to have though you are the only one Mom wanted to send plants... But even the courtesy of a no thanks and a ❤ eould have been 'nuff, especially after your videos inspired us after a heart issue in da fam. Thanks for inspiration...
Wish for consideration.

@@paulplantu it is OK we understand just looking for less meaningful subscriptions to quit filling up our channel. Peace. Really but also my husband works in your God awful state and lives in ours at the end of the day. Who do we matter to? You mattered to us
@@paulplantu wow now we get it
We should all matter alot more to each other
Hopefully they didn’t spray pesticides around that tree that was cut
I did spray the trunk after I drilled holes in it to stop it from growing from the trunk and so it would be killed down to the roots but I didn't spray the ground. The leaves and branches I threw in that corner to biodegrade.
@@paulplantu awesome
I was happy to find a local gardener on RUclips. Your camera is so consistently shaky I’m sea sick now. I had to stop watching and only listen with glances. Idk if you later have a gimbal or some other way to reduce it.
In light of all of the mass shootings, including Uvalde, could you please think about using a different outgoing message at the end of the videos instead of admiration for violence? Otherwise, I like your videos, but I don’t want to support the “gunning” that you do at the ends.
