Negligent that they aren’t already underground. Here in Monterey County the lines are tangled in the branches. Not even following their own rules. Recent article said the savings from less maintenance would allow the underground work itself to pay for itself in 3-5 years. So then we have to Sue for negligence if they don’t now act!
It looks like these are "medium voltage" lines which are "around" 50kV. Like it or not, things do go wrong with these lines and when something happens it can take a lot of effort to repair.
CA needed to let PGE go bankrupt and split it up. Unfair for all to subsidize irresponsible home building in forests. PGE loves capital projects since they can raise rates.
I'm sure burying power lines in a state with strong earthquakes and high fire danger can never go wrong, right? The ground can't catch on fire, what are you talking about?
An obvious and simple solution thought supposedly by highly paid officials. Most European are already done it for years and we are just caught up to this idea.
3.40 p/mo for now and will be at least 3.40 p/day in the next 10 years. I am almost 55 y/old and this is a down payment. You can be certain we are headed to a set starting rate of 340 USD p/mo to even get residential power.
Everything worthwhile in the long run, is ALWAYS going to cost more than the alternative at point of purchase. The savings over a 20 year period however, can be up to 20-1, just like an EV, battery storage, or buying in bulk from Costco. And the emissions saved can be 20-1 sometimes too. Those who profit from the old ways will always skew the ‘costs’. Be aware of this.
ya but it should be on there dime and not the customers. the top people in the company are getting Millions and the CEO should know its her responsibility.
Long range decisions, especially by public service institutions who have to look 25, 50 or even 100 years ahead, are necessary. It takes a strong willed, damn the torpedos, management to push it through ... congratulations PG&E. The forecasts for utility based entities are usually based on solid historical background ... they are also normally not influenced by short term politics or armchair quarterbacks. In my opinion, PG&E made the correct decision to proceed with underground electrical services ... besides, remember they are the natural gas business too. Great move by your management! V. H. Yeah, so proud yet theyre laying off employees trying to cut costs because the company is going broke again.. They need to lay off 2,000 of their lazy union linemen.
@@korodski for something they should’ve done decades ago For something that is cheaper to go underground then it is above ground . Think about it they’re gonna do something cheaper . That has no annual maintenance basically . And they’re gonna charge you more for it Set up a gallon of milk for three dollars a gallon. I’m gonna sell you a half a gallon of milk for four dollars a gallon. . 🤔
Should have started doing this in the 80's and 90's instead of liing shareholders pockets.
Profits are capped at 11% by the government
Your retirement is tied to stock, guess what, you are a Shareholder :D
Bay Area has the HIGHEST RATES in the damn Country !!! WEVE ALREADY FULLY PAID FOR IT !!! Not only NO but HELL-NO to rate increase !!!
Their going to raise the rates period. High end areas will recieve some underground...90 % of the state will not.
Newsom is bought and paided for by PG&E , so expect to be shafted !🤮
It sounds like a great solution to prevent hurricane power outages
Imagine how much more beautiful the area will look with no more overhead line eyesores.

Burying those lines also stop the theft of lines and the illegal stealing of electricity and forest fires.
😂😂
I wonder how many bodies will be unearthed in Oakland
Probably none, they usually burn the body in a stolen car.

Thank you pge

KaBooM the whole world ..
These Niga's are crazy...

PG&E doesn't like to use the word "bury" anymore, for obvious reasons. Unfortunately, "undergrounding" does not qualify as a word.
The lines should last way longer.
Role that out in the rural and mountain area. It will be cheaper to move into the mountains or rural areas or topside.
Save some trees too.
PG&E needs a rate cut. And this woman needs a pay cut. That’s a fact. She’s overpaid.
I don’t think this will solve the problem but possibly make it worse and create another problem
ya but it should be on there dime and not the customers. the top people in the company are getting Millions and the CEO should know its her responsibility.
