- The Pacific Gas and Electric Company is on track to meet this year's goals for the largest project in the nation to bury power lines underground. The utility plans to bury 10,000 miles of lines in high-fire risk areas, and the work is ramping up county by county, mile by mile. On Monday, the utility's CEO Patti Poppe toured a job site in northern Solano County, on Gordon Valley Road. It's an area that gets windy, and local residents have long worried that a tree blown into PG&E equipment could start a wildfire.
