My first online course to get you into the backcountry safely and confidently is now live. Dan Becker’s Couch to Confidence. - Развлечения
Dan gave me access to this course and I can confidently vouch that it’s great! It will definitely help many people get out there! Even though I’m kind of mad that you’re putting me out of a job!
Eric, we’ll always need you to help us get out of a dead tree without a saw! 😇🙏🏻😁😂🤣
I'm just excited to get the free ShamWow to dry my tent condensation with!!
Eric, you and Dan can release an interactive Grand Canyon hiking course.
This product is for losers. I can't believe Dan is stooping this low. NEXT HE WILL BE A LIFE INSURANCE SALESMAN!! 🤡🤡🤡🤡
I LOVED my backpacking years!! But then I joined the Sheriff's Search and Rescue. That kept me in the outdoors and very, very busy training and deploying along with my full-time job! I was on the Search Dog Unit AND a Technical Rope Rescue Unit. Very, very rewarding service.🐾🇺🇸🐕🦺🦮
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!! 🤣🤣 Classic infomercial line.
Get all this and more for just 3 easy payments of $49.95 😁
Love the idea, but $150 for content that is free on YT is a bit of a stretch. But Im sure it will help people, so all the luck to you
Maybe the reason why the poll showed you that most of your viewers barely backpack at all is that those who do backpack a lot were in the backcountry and couldn't vote. 👀🤣
I vant wait to purchase! I find it tedious teying to research all of the questions i have... My 12 year old step son and i have been wanting to start backpacking and this will be perfect for us to learn together and plan some awesome trips. Im also bummed to see some of the negative feedback jere about the price. Honestly to me $150 is well worth the time and effort of having to comb theough the Internet to get answers on EVERYTHING. Having it all in one course from a trusted expert is amazing, thanks for putting this together Dan!
Dan, do we have to pay extra for the “Grand Canyon” module?
😂😂
Seriously, course looks awesome!
@@DanBecker🤡
Got mine, Dan! Looking forward to checking it out!!!
I motorbike camp, but I don't backpack. Regardless your videos still help
Hey everyone im looking for a bit of advice. has anyone ever used the gas canister adaptors so i can just use cheap butane to help my budget. was just wondering if they are safe and work well. thanks everyone
I think you missed the mark on the price. $150 is too much coming from a RUclipsr with no formal backcountry/wilderness ops training. I might pay that for an online course coming from NOLS or NWMG. I’m sure the material and videos are good (your vids are top notch on YT), but I think you’re gonna find that you won’t sell many of these packages at $150. I’m not rich and I’m not broke, and my sweet spot for this info would be around $50 bucks. At that price you’d likely sell ten times as many. JMHO as an outdoor guide and climber/mountaineer/backpacker.
I didn’t know Pittman John Krasinski had a brother
Absolutely love that you’ve taken your knowledge and experience and put a package together to help someone who may have the interest but is overwhelmed with the amount of information out there. I got into backpacking about 6 months ago and I’ve learned a ton from your videos and others, but going through an organized course can provide a hands on experience that’s retainable. Great work Dan!
Clever idea 🤘learning everything from RUclips can sometime be overwhelming
Wish you the best of luck hopefully, you’ll be able to reach a bunch of new back Packers
I am interested but why can’t you ship to Canada? Disappointed ☹️ love your channel and watch it all the time
Unfortunately shipping costs are terrible internationally 😢
I am intrigued. I teach a class with my search and rescue team for this very same subject and audience. been doing it 40 years. I think I'll take the class to see how it compares.
Backpacking is kinda a learn as you go, what works for you. After the first trip you really start learning in what to take and why the heck did I bring this. With so much information already out there for beginners, not really sure why anyone will purchase this.
This course is amazing, Dan! So excited for you and for the amazing experiences that this will open up for people!! I wish I would have had this when I was getting started!
I'm pretty sure it is pronounced "HUNKY" dory not "Honky dory." Other than that, excellent news about your course and materials.
HAha! It is, depending on where you live. ;)
In addition: I have created the Dan Becker app for those people who have and have not backpacked to find similar minded people who are close geographically to the each other to link up and go backpack and apply the skills of my course together. Not only that there is a gear review section and a nice message board to have discussions and run ideas by each other.
(Just cut me in on some of the profits for the idea.)
Dan all you have to do is Join the Marine Corp get paid and you will learn it all. Except going Light 😂
As an educator I have an idea of the work that went into this course. Congratulations on the launch, I am sure it will help many more people enjoys the outdoors as much as we do.
Thank you so much! An incredible amount of work!
Congrats Dan!
Yes man!!! Way to go! I’m in at number 25!
Awesome Idea! There is a ton of info out there but sorting through it is maddening! Helping people not buy the wrong stuff to start is a huge money saver. Essentially the course pays for itself.
Thank you! Exactly!!
i cannot afford this at present but i will be able to in a couple of months and am looking foward to it. i checked out the website and love how the lessons are broken down into sections like first aid. im going to assume some lessons only apply to america but the basic concepts are trnasferable. pretty hyped to improve me awful skills. cheers dan
Congratulations this is great! 🙌🏾
That’s awesome
I just love the work and passion you put into everything you do. Super cool you built out this course. You have a lot of knowledge to share and I hope people will use it and learn from it. Great job!
godspeed dan, that'sa neat project.
Super cool!!! Getting my friend into backpacking has been hard, and I think that the largest barrier is the amount of knowledge you need. It can be SUPER overwhelming to start. Sending this to my pal I’ve someone talked into doing the PCT with me.
Incredible idea, and all the success!
Congrats!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Cool concept
Cool idea, congrats on the launch!
Hey just wondering have you thought of making a video about properly cleaning your hiking gear because I haven’t seen many videos about this
You need a grown man to tell you, probably another grown man, how to clean fabric?
@@SophisticatedDogCat im not a grown man im 17
@@djflam99 Close enough.
Long time follower, best of luck!
I'm excited for the direction you are taking since your health scare. Perhaps that experience was not entirely a bad thing.
Hard pass on the $150 course, make it more affordable, the average person is really struggling right now.
It's really not. Courses and trips through other places like REI can easily be thousands and aren't as thorough.
@@juansarmiento3857 I don't mind that you disagree, I also don't have an issue with people supporting a creator, I just don't see a value in a backpacking course for that price. The basic fact that there's a $30 gift with it shows that the value proposition isn't properly aligned. I support the idea, not the price and that is okay.
@@brianracer6868 Fair. I understand that for you it is not a good value. I myself have little need for a course like this, as I have been camping/backpacking for much of my life and enjoy researching for free. I'm just pointing out that with what's available, it is quite affordable and valuable to beginners. Your comment sounded like you were speaking on behalf of the average person, than just yourself. But I acknowledge it's not for everyone and if you can gain this knowledge for free and on your own, then more power to ya!
Such a great idea, Dan. Youre going to get so many people out there!
Please tell me there's an Emmett-led section of the course.
Nice! That great Dan!!!well thought though!!👍👍😊
Trip planning is what has me on the fence...
I think it's fair to say the price of this course is equivalent to a modest trip. Will that cost elevate your outdoor experience to that of what you would accomplish on your own?
❤
Pretty cool!
Great and intelligent guy! He knows his stuff! If you are interested in backpacking, sign up for this course and go out there prepared!!! You wont regret it!
Best of luck! Just a suggestion, you might throw in a bonus section as an add-on that includes a little bit of bushcraft information for people that wanna get a little bit more rustic and adventurous in their hikes and camping experiences.
Congratulations on your achievement!
Just curious, is that gift getting sent to Alaska and Hawaii as well?
Great idea Dan. Good luck.
My nieghbours ate about to go wild camping/camping for the first time with their kids and were doing a setup in the garden.
I didnt have the heart to pick holes in their equipment or plans lol
Nice Dan!
😳🤯YEAH!!!!! I’m in
You ten years ago was me 5 years ago. JMT this year!
Thanks for putting this together! If someone doesn't have an experienced friend willing to show them the ropes, then it can be very challenging.
Most people want to be spoon fed. There will still be a learning curve, but this could be a great start!
It also takes time to bring friends up to speed...now I can point them this resource!
Great job Dan. 🎉
Please make something like this on having and surviving with children
When I first became interested in trying backpacking I turned to RUclips to get help with learning what to buy, how to backpack, and how to stay alive in the woods lol. I watched hundreds of videos and ended up landing on your channel where I found a lot of useful tips from your gear videos. Since then I have backpacked in Shenandoah, Art Lobe Trail, Smokies, Laugavegur in Iceland, Pemi loop etc. This course would have been awesome when I first started out and would have saved so much time. Time much better spent outside, right?
I think it's time for you to produce your own gear, it will be more helpful
Setting people $150 further back in starting cost seems a like a little much, no?
Can you compare the nature mongar 2 tent to the msr hubba? The budget replica vs the real deal
“Honky Dorey? That’s racist! I’m triggered🤣😂🤣
i think selling your name is always your last resort.
This is awesome for beginners and glad you’re the guy to do it!
No need to spend money on this product. Just RUclips the specifics such as best ways to navigate, best ultralight gear brands, cook set ups, and such. Thats what I did and was more than prepared for my first backpacking trip
yup search free youtube on many videos on how to for hiking camping, its not that hard to go camping.
Don't get me wrong I definitely agree with you, but I can see the value for the person who has never gone backpacking but trusts Dan's opinions. If you have time to sift through youtube then absolutely do so, but I can see how it would be confusing to see so many opinions on certain things from minimalist backpackers e.g. JupiterHikes vs "comfort" backpackers e.g. Eric Hanson
it also misses a huge part of the point. if you’re broke, sure, just search. but this stuff (content, information, etc) takes funds to produce. buying not only gets you a cleanly packaged version, but you’re also helping support getting the information out there. so, yeah, if you can’t afford to give back, it’s great this information is out there available for free. but remember who’s putting it there in the first place (obviously not just Dan, but people like).
I think a reasonably overview overview would eliminate some trial and error, and so save some time and money. I’ve certainly gathered a number of things I shouldn’t have bought (like a well reviewed sleeping pad that isn’t thick enough for me as a side sleeper). Some trial and error is inevitable, but if Dan’s course saves you a single $100 error, you’d be ahead of the game.
i get it, but for me thats just too much. what would be reasonable for me just wouldnt for the product and thats ok. im happy this is out there for someone though!
I'm curious whose RUclips channel inspired you to start backpacking.
This looks really great! Good idea, Dan!
Just signed up!
Matthew 19:23-24 (NIV):
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."
that price deserves a loss in subscribers. bs bro. you can learn it for free on youtube university
Infomercial, you're losing me Dan.
I hope you’re kidding. It’s not like he almost DIED bringing us cool variety. Sheesh!
@@joni4632 well he needs to make money some how since he's not really hiking much anymore!
@@simpleoutdoors1 I would do the same thing if I were him. It’s his income, and you have to roll with the punches in any industry. He’s always hiked in some pain from his knees. It’s not like he’s making this stuff up as a couch potato wanna-be.
Right? Like how dare he offer more ways to equip his followers with knowledge and confidence to be better backpackers and enjoy the outdoors. The audacity of him! 😂
@@juansarmiento3857suckers
Dan says how to handle animals and it made me think about that one video where Dan was totally pissed over people not covering their poo and how there wasn't a single place he could find which didn't have some loaf lying around making it really hard to go.
No need for this capitalism course, JGOT (just get out there)
you should do give aways
How do I afford this in Biden’s America?
Great infomercial… is this for real? I actually think it’s pretty fun and a cool idea. You are a cheeseball. Fun idea and sounds like REI courses. They have a new competitor..: Dan Becker! Cool!
Yep real!
