Doritos started out being a fairly healthy snack food. It was originally made with simple real-food ingredients. What made them unhealthy was the switch to seed oils and the heavy reliance on artificial synthetic chemical flavorings. Makes me wonder if using a spaghetti alphabet soup list of ingredients helps hide substances that cause an addictive response in the brain. Lol.
The 80s ones were the best perfect,90s you could tell they changed the seasoning after that it got better in early 2000s then after awhile it just went blah
Actually…Doritos was a follow-on product to Fritos…Fritos originated in San Antonio in 1932 doing business as the Frito Company…the origin and history of Fritos corn chips is well documented!!...There are Frito-Lay delivery trucks driving around San Antonio with graphics of Doritos and a banner that says originated in San Antonio!!...Ryan…just an honest philosophical difference on this one!!!
Yea frito lay would never lie giving a town an artificial source of pride in order to sell more product. Im sure execs felt disney could do with the product lore.
@@EATSHISTORY Ironically, a week prior to your video, I saw one of these trucks making a delivery…pointed it out to my wife and we both thought it was pretty neat…if I see one again, I’ll try to get a pic….Continuing to watch your excellent videos!
I'm from Oakland where we had "Granny Goose" and the flavor I loved was similar to taco flavor but the catch... it only came in a variety pack of 12 so they're only be 2 per package 🤷
Sour cream & onion Doritos?! I WISH those would come back😭😭😭 And I remember the olestra craze & then downfall. Personally, I never had any ill effects from it, I especially loved the Ruffles made with it. They tasted SO much like the original ones. I was sad when they were discontinued.
I ate a bag of something made with olestra once, and let's just say that for the next three days it took a little extra toilet paper to wipe away a greasy residue after my morning constitutional.
Those used to be my favorite but now my top 3 favorites: 1) Tapatio Doritos 2)Sweet Spicy Chili 3) Nacho Cheese If you've never had Tapatio Doritos, they might be your favorite on 1st try. They can be spicy.
I was never a HUGE fan of Doritos, I find the chip itself to be a little too brittle and even a bit messy. I used to like them a lot more as a kid but as an older adult now, I have gone a good couple of years at times without eating a single Doritos chip.
I remember the 1st time I had Doritos. Just a plain corn chip. I liked it. Then I tried the Taco, man it was good. The Nacho chip was the Bomb back then. Lastly the Ranch chip, holy guacamole Batman ! I no longer like the Taco, the Ranch doesn't hit like it used to. But the Nacho still pleases my taste buds.
I remember as a kid late 70s early eighties They opened your small bag of Doritos sideways a used a hot nacho cheese dispensers to smear cheese all over your Doritos Sometimes even a few veggies also Peppers and onions diced small Does anyone else remember stores doing this??? I was in central Canada Right in the middle of my country Thanks
@@iamchicagoan2422 nah bro They Added More and it kinda overdid it the Nacho Cheese Was Great when they did it but they Added More to the Ranch and it kinda messed em up for me

yeah, and at some point they started adding preservatives to make the chips last longer
I miss the original 3d doritos, they were light and airy. They tried a reboot recently and they weren't the same, they were thick and crunchy.
It's almost like they don't have the original recipe to follow or something, like they weren't the ones who made it

Cool Ranch was the Goat
I agree.😋 The next time you make nachos or a taco salad, try them with Cool Ranch Doritos instead of regular corn tortillas or chips. Yummy !!!

Same with Nachos and Twang! One of the many reasons I love San Antonio.

I’d be curious to see those trucks. Thanks for the input

Spicy Nachos is the best kind of Doritos

Cool Ranch is one of my oldest favorite flavors of Doritos ^-^
29 cents a bag in the 1960's 8 bucks a bag today...
just imagine how much they'll cost in another 84 years ...
Sweet Chili 🌶️🤗😋
It’s all about bold bbq and spicy sweet chili f’ing fire!
Nutritionists cite Doritos as one of the unhealthiest things you can eat
They have MSG that’s why. It’s a psychologically addictive substance.
Mmmm...
Nacho Cheese 🧀
Spicy Nacho
Salsa Verde...

I never thing to buy them, but if
Someone opens a bag I’d eat the whole

Thanks for your wonderful research.

Cool ranch
Cool ranch > Tostitos > Nacho Doritos > Ruffles > Lays
Personally, I enjoy the Organic Nacho Cheese flavor.

I love the spicy hot flavors that were launched throughout the years, flamas, flamin hot and flamin hot XXX, fiery fusion, and fiery habanero.
Made from delicious GMO corn.
sure is some good tasting waste

doritos sux. Julio's are so much better. Frito Lay sux bad.
Julio's are trash!! Maria's are the best!!
@@iamchicagoan2422 Maria's are even more horrible than doritos.
I like Most of the flavors cool ranch was Great back in 86 but somewhere they overdid the Cool ranch they just put too much seasoning on them
Did they change the taste ?
