Kobe is the greatest example for younger generation to be sucessful in watever they want to be not only to be a basketball player, he never cheated the game he never cheated the process, he pursue greatness, hes main mindset is to get to his goal watever it takes, he is the one that younger generation to duplicate his work ethic
To me, being the goat of basketball is secondary to being the goat competitor of all time. Kobe's obsession with mastering skills, to me make him the goat competitor of all time.
I honestly think that DEEP DOWN from HOF players to players today, most of them think that Kobe is the GOAT. They just don’t wanna say it because the narrative spoon fed to us is it’s MJ or James. That’s just my opinion though.
@Just4freepremiumbrons longevity can’t be ignored but that doesn’t make him the goat. He cheated the game so many times in his career. And losing 6 times in the finals can’t be ignored.
@@stvnoahc7249the losses doesn’t take away from his greatness, he still has 4 rings and 4 finals mvps with 3 different teams, do you know how hard it is to even make it to the finals? Do you realize there’s teams that never been meanwhile Bron went 9 years str8 and the times he won in were hard best team ever statistically 73-9 Golden state, he’s also no. One scorer ever and top 10 in rebounds and assists and averages 27 8 and 8 for his career, and is still adding to the accolades
Whole time I didn’t recognize that being Jordan speaking to B. Scott and Fish! 😮 Side note: Kobe said he wanted to have fun and win the game. Scoring 60 was not on the list but the team kept feeding him the ball and he didn’t want to let them down.
08 game 4 was a tough lost man. After hearing Fisher I can totally understand Kobe. Lakers just almost got swept in the first round in 07, and for some miraculous reasons he’s in 08 finals and has a chance to tie the game and even up 3:2😂but now he’s down 1:3 and might never be able to get another ring. However this fact just made the ring in 09 and the revenge in 10 even sweeter.
That game exposed Phil as an overrated coach. I was always highly suspicious of Phil, even before then. That series in 04 was the first sign. Derek said it, he took him out when they were up 15. When he came back they were down 4. The triangle was already obsolete in 2008, the Celtics defense was suffocating and Phil just sat there with his thumb up his ass. No sets for Pau, no sets for Kobe. I’ll never forgive Phil for blowing that game. They win that game, they win that series and win 3 in a row. I’ll also never forgive the Lakers for missing out on Garnett in 2007. He wanted to play for the Lakers, if he shows up, maybe Ray Allen shows up as well. Maybe they get Pau anyway. If that happens, forget 3 in a row, a core of Kobe, Kg, and Pau wins at least 4. Instead, he went to the rival Celtics. Unbelievable. Kobe won many titles because he played on the Lakers, he also lost out on more because of the same reason. If they had Popovich instead of Phil, they win 2 or 3 more. If they had a better VP, instead of that awful Jim Buss, they pick up Garnett in 07 and build around Kobe and him.
Started the podcast off with an incorrect stat. Lakers did not lose on no damn June 15th, 2008. They won that game (Game 5). The game he's referring to is June 12th, 2008. Game FOUR. Series was 2-1. It was NOT 2-2. That 2008 series was NEVER 2-2. How do you start a podcast off incorrectly lol
GiGi man.... Imagine what the WNBA wouldve been like?! Have you been following WNBA rn? It's an absolute shit show. I think Kobe and GiGi would've help WNBA greatly if not completely revamp it. Sucks.
The series was never tied in 2008 NBa finals. It was 2-1 when Lakers got 24 pt lead and loss by 6. But it's just because lakers were out matched pound by pound by Bostons Mature big 3 plus multiple all time all stars that became Bostons role player that year. Kobe was there but Pau was a mid season aquisition and raw in terms of Triangle. Boston got Paul, KG, Ray. RISINg rondo, Sam Cassell and PJ Brown, Perk, Poe, Tony.. Kobe got Pau and Lamar, Turiaf, Waltom, Fish, Mihm, Radmanovic, Vujacic. slim Trev. Bynum was injured. Lakers line up was thin outsode of Kobe. If Lakers got Pau at the beginning of that season and got training camp things would be different. Lakers may have won the title because of the home court advantage. Remember that season Lakers staryed 9-8. Eneded up 57-25. Boston 66-16.
Phil wasn’t much for timeouts or bailing players out. He didn’t panic, and demanded his players solve it. Usually worked, as it did famously 4th quarter against Portland in game 7. That said… I’ve never been more angry at a Coach than I was at Phil during that meltdown for that exact reason. Fisher was a playoff dog and a champion. He had heart and no way you don’t put a bet like him back in quickly when Farmar was clearly in over his head. Expecting him to solve it in that moment isn’t the same as demanding a Jordan, Kobe, Pippen, or Shaq do it. Lost the series.
So you wrote that whole first paragraph just to turn around and question Phil and his judgment? It obviously isn’t gonna work out every time, but yet here you are trying to doubt his coaching that night 🤦🏿♂️
The only human that could be better than Kobe in history is Michael (and viceversa) but if Kobe would've competed against Mike he would've find the way. Just saying. Rip mamba.
Kobe > Lebron. He took personal responsibility for winning AND was executing. He also was arguably the top defensive player for his position during his career. Lebron would pass to George Hill and while he was very good at defense, he was never the best. When we talk about GOAT, the bar is set that high. Winning championships is good but there are many first ballot HOFers who have multiple rings but aren’t GOAT, Lebron is the King of that second tier.
So annoying when a guy is trying to set up a question as the host of the show and literally the first words out of his mouth are inaccurate. It was never 2-2. It wasn’t game 5. It was game 4. It was 2-1. Saying it was game 5 is one thing. Saying it was 2-2 tells me you don’t know what you’re talking about.
He made a mistake. It was game 4 the Lakers were down 2-1 and up a ton trying to tie the series 2-2 but instead Celtics came back and went up 3-1. We won game 5 at home (it was still 2-3-2 format back then) then we got blown out in game 6 and lost the series 4-2.

Kobe wasted greatness, when he screwed the Lakers in the 2004 finals by trying to be the man. He wasted greatness, when he stopped shooting in the second half of an important playoff game. Kobe was great, but keep things in perspective.
So Kobe is the only all time great to have a bad Finals? Let alone against arguably the best defensive team of all time in those 04 Pistons And Kobe was just following Phil’s game plan vs Suns in that game 7 not to mention they were down 30+pts guess he should have kept shooting and stat passed like Lebron does when he is down 20-30pts in 2nd half of those Finals sweeps
