Thanks for your video. It is far to expensive to pay to have this done at a dealership, or a quick change place. When you do it yourself you know it was done correctly, and with care.

      Your welcome
I too find that doing oil changes yourself ensure it was done right and at an affordable price. From all my years, I’ve found the simplest thing to keep a car alive forever is oil changes (and scheduled mx).

Thanks for posting this! I’m about to do my first oil change on my Corolla. I’m familiar with oil changes, just wanted to see how it’s done.

I’m pleased to hear it has helped you. You should find this one straight forward. No curve balls with this one

I’m going to do my oil change on 2021 Corolla soon I could not find OW-16 so I got OW-20 will that b okay to run?

That should be fine. 0w-16 is per the manual. But -20 is a suitable sub. If you live in extreme heat or cold, of course refer to the manual to see if that is in tolerance. But -20 should work fine. Good luck and have fun😀

What brand of engine oil do you use? Is it the OEM or M1? I am thinking to use Castrol 0w16 for my Rolla Hybrid 2021.

I usually use Mobile 1. But to be honest I think the brand means less than just ensuring the oil has the proper specs (I listed these in the video description). And changing it/ the oil filter on time every time.

The only thing missing I feel like could’ve been done is making sure that the new filter was filled halfway with new oil before being installed, but seeing as how it goes in sideways maybe that wasn’t an option.

I considered that, but like you said, the filter sits awkwardly. And since I was sharing this to the internet…I didn’t want people doing that and then coming for me because oil spilt all over them or their driveway. 😂
      Excellent catch though.

My video only was for the purpose of an oil and oil filter change. I would recommend consulting your maintenance manual for its periodic replacement. Have a good day

What ramps are you using? My ramps are too high and my bumper scrapes on them.

I bought these “Rhino Ramps” by Blitz over a decade ago. I’m sure newer versions are out there. Mine measured at 7” high and 35” long. I had zero clearance issues
Otherwise just use a jack and jack stands…

My issue would be to pull it up on those ramps. Too scared and I'm not as comfortable on a jack 🤷🏽‍♀️

Admittedly, yes, that can be a critical aspect of the job, which can be daunting if you have never done it before. This was my daughter’s first time. She was nervous, but did fine. I think a spotter helps a lot. But saving a few dollars on an Oil change isn’t worth damage to your car. So it may be better to take it to a mechanic. But at least you know going into it, what’s involved and how much it costs.

Good job, but next time make sure the oil is not leaking
