    I have always done a first oil change at 1000 miles, get that break in oil and the damaging microscopic metal pieces out of there. However, I have zero faith in 0W anything in my car. My Grand Highlander calls for that as well, but with the option for 5W-20 which I opted for. The Toyota tech even called the 0W-8 oil apple juice. Toyota does that for one reason, maximize the MPG’s….. I’ll sacrifice a mile or two for better wear protection over the long haul.

    • @Jay-nc7vk
      @Jay-nc7vk 6 дней назад +2

      You don't think Toyota has tested this oil weight in their engines by the engineers for years before you even see it on the lot? Yep, they do.....Tighter tolerances in modern engines make a huge difference. The engineers are further ahead in engine development in relationship to oil weight than you think.

    • @Astrocop17
      @Astrocop17 6 дней назад

      @@Jay-nc7vk well of course they do skippy. And you don’t think the manufacturers would sacrifice longevity for a couple MPG’s as part of marketing and sales, please, don’t be naive. Plenty of independent oil experts even here on you tube that would tell you the same thing. Same for the recommended first oil change… Toyota recommends 10k…. But for some reason a whole bunch of people on here concur with the 1K first change recommendation. So….. is Toyota right about one but wrong about the other? I’ll stick with my tried and true (and expert supported agreement) to do a first change at 1K, AND, I’ll use the thickest oil acceptable to meet my warranty.

      @@Astrocop17What are you talking about? Plenty of Toyotas last 200k+ miles. My Corolla calls for a 0w20 and there are corollas well over 200k miles that use 0w20. It’s not an apple juice. That oil is the most appropriate type of oil for your engine.0W is just thinner and it flows easily in cold weather. I don’t trust manufacturers either as they call the transmission fluid a life time fluid but I change mines. But you shouldnt mess with what goes in your engine. Just change it more often.

      @@khawajarashid7799 I have two in my driveway/garage right now, and have had 6 others so I’m pretty well versed on Toyotas thank you very much. Read carefully, I didn’t call it apple juice, the TOYOTA TECH DID. I will abide by my warranty, by, putting in the thicker option 5W-20 recommended in my owners manual

    • @khawajarashid7799
      @khawajarashid7799 4 дня назад

      @Astrocop17 dude toyota tech doesn't mean anything. They are just mechanics with a toyota uniform.The same mechanics will tell you that the transmission fluid shouldn't be changed.they are not engineers who designed these engines.If your owner manual recommends a 0w-8, you should use that as it flows better in these tiny 1.6L engines. But if yours says 5w-20 as the main oil and not an alternate, you can use it.

    I purchased my wife a 2020 Camry SE has the same 2.5l engine, but I think her transmission is different she has the 8 speed automatic. All 2025 models are Hybrids now correct? By the way cars been awesome no issues in 4 years still got 3 years of payments left. Costs me $80 at the Toyota dealer to do ours so I would rather pay them then to have to go through the hassle of doing it myself LOL:P I have seen this engine in 2018 models hitting 300k miles and they did every 5k mile oil changes which is what we do. If hers had turbos I would do it every 3k those turbos are rough on oil. There is a huge benefit to doing a break in change early especially if you want to try and get 500k or more miles out of it. The 2.5l engines in these camries have been rock solid. If you have not already seen Carcarenut check out his channel hes a Toyota Master Tech for many years.

This video would have answered my own questions about the car had it existed. I checked sources and posts online and also referred to the manual. Many questions were answered such as how many bolts were on the skid plate and socket size. The oil filter number, socket size for the oil drain plug, the location of the front jack point, the recommended oil to name a few. It also showed the ease of removing the skid plate and the engine bay. Since I wasn't able to easily find these answers all in one spot I made a video for everyone else to refer to. Oil level was checked on a level surface and was correct, I would say it was very useful but to each their own.
