This is high time that this stupid "sub 4 meter" rule needs to be removed. The Indian market is missing out on so many good models and brands that are available worldwide.
People are still buying sub 4 meter cars the most. Not because they like this segment but because they can't afford bigger cars. If this segment has to go ..then taxes have to be lowered, for sure to make cars affordable
It’s not a rule. It’s because of the tax structure which makes the cars more affordable if they are under 4 meter. There are expensive cars which are over 4 meter available

What a precise response to the questions!!. An Indian designer would have responded 100% to the question, "Is Skoda planning to market the car outside India" There is no wonder why Skoda/VW designers were able to make aesthetic cars with precision with no unwanted lines and curves. Just opposite to Indian counterparts.
I just really hope a large majority of car buying people in India who don't watch Autocar or any such serious good automotive content (the Marathi and creta buyers ) also buy this. Skoda VW should address that crowd somehow.. PS: I don't have a plan for it.. but those people = volume of scale.
Great! Now Skoda needs to work on two more things. One, building a good showroom network. I am from Dehradun, a state capital and yet the showroom is almost non-existent. Two, clarify the air around maintenance issues. My family has owned a couple of Skodas and VWs, like Laura, Octavia, Fabia, Polo and therefore I know what I am telling! All the Best 👍🏻
Looks like they have put honest efforts in this car....Kushaq somehow with its plastics and design dosent feel that upmarket. But Kylaq feels very confident, upmarket and like it wants to please you by offering more...

Sub 4 meter rule is for reducing congestion especially in metro cities. Compact engines help in delivering better mileage and reduce fule costs and better for environment given that we are adding 20 lakh car every year on indian roads.
The rule does a poor job at fuel economy as many of the cars in this segment have direct injection and/or are turbo charged. The environment would be better served by allowing the 1.5L Atkinson engines pair with hybrid system from Toyota to get the tax relief.
Which color looks good practically in kylaq, as you have seen them all? I need to book one, but I can't see them until then.:hand-pink-waving::hand-pink-waving::hand-pink-waving:
The only reason I'm not buying this fantastic car is because the indicator stalks have not been placed to the right of the steering wheel since left hand will work on the gear lever specially for manual enthusiasts.
For reference - I own a Taigun GT 1.5L engine. I got a service package for 4 years which cost me Rs. 26000. You can expect service cost to be 5000-7000 in a service package. Also I was informed that I can extend service package to 6 years in the 4th year
Vw must learn from its mistakes. Taigun and kushaq are one size smaller than its competitors but are solely selling on their usp build quality, superior drive ability that only limited no of vw fans will understand. Virtus is outselling its competitors because it's on par in size and has desirability quotient. Kylaq seems better in this regard . Vw must bring facelifts of taigun and kushaq with better road presence and better interiors and their engine options could get ignored if other criteria are better than competitors.
Autocar must start questioning government this decade old rules of length engine Cc and ground clearance forms the basis of GST and Cess. Tax structure and state wise registration charges are highly baised and illogical as well.
NO , they cant have 1.5 TSI in this otherwise it won't fit in sub 4 Mtr taxation rule and loads of taxes will be applicable making this as expensive as bigger brother which just doesn't make sense , it would cannibalise KUSHAQ market
I think we Indians use so much English. All these European guys don't speak fluent English. It's seems like they use it only in job that also if it's necessary. But here in India we speak English even in house.
As they Said, there will be 3 cars under 10 lac, let's say based on current information available you want 3rd car which may cost 10 lac. Also add around 1.5 lac of other things for on road cost. You may need around 11.5 lac. Generally people increase their budget a little bit when they actually buy cars.
Who was the idi0t govt official who came up with this rule of sub 4 meter , 1 to 1.2 litre engine etc ? W t f.... They destroyed all the fun of driving...even automatics have been destroyed by using CVT, AMT , and then turbo engines.
SKODA again missed an opportunity in designing Kylaq. Even though it is good looking product, REAR SEAT legroom is not satisfactory. They should have designed it by reducing Boot space & Increased rear seat legroom.
