Great interview Paul! I am more of a visual learner instead of hearing the verbiage alone. I really need to see the visual presentation on how to setup a Helium HotSpot in person. Cool interview! Had to go back and watch this after watching the HNT Render video in feb 2022.
Gret explanation..I didn't think about the conversations becoming "token economics" as much as it is in progress. There's rarely fiat economy spoken of with millennials over token economics. I'll be looking in to this helium now

Ik it’s 6 days late but whenever I see somebody say this I always try to recommend, try to get one in a foreign country if you have the means to do so. I have one in Mexico City and it outcompetes 3 others that I have in Philadelphia. The less condensed with hotspots the better. Just thought if you have the ability, maybe give it a shot. Good luck!

I love this Company and what its use case is. However be prepared to wait 6 months if you order a miner. They need to fix this issue as its really frustrating. The Manufactures are really behind its ridiculous

Excellent interview! really interesting project. Watched some other videos recently about them.
I am not sure how this really work, but if you are using your broadband or fiber connection, and then transmit the internet access to nearby people, that would likely violate terms of use with your service provider? ..pretty sure the ISPs would not like their customers "stolen" like that?

8yrs, but still only few customers using the IoT helium network .... 5G smells better however this wont be avail. in europe bcs no frequencies are left for free use. Helium is more promises than delivery. And one more thing, majority of telco operators are having terms and conditions where they restrict sharing internet connectivity with 3rd parties "for profit" and they oblige you to buy "B2B" solutions for way more money or they can either sue you for lost profit or cut you off ...
Isn't anyone else concerned that the COO of Helium said that there approx 3 MILLION more devices on order?
This means that the current 266k devices will be increased 11-12 fold, respectively profitability will drop 11-12 times!!
In my medium/small sized European country, in an average sized city, profitability is in the range $100 to $500 per month, which in the next few months, when these devices go online, will drop to $8 to $33 per month!
So if you order a device today for $450, it will take you a year and a half just to return your device cost - best case, or as long as 4-5 years.
And currently crypto currencies are quite expensive, if this coincides with a crypto winter and HNT is down 50%, you might be unable to even pay off your device.
That's assuming that the value of HNT stays the same. I think people are hoping it will go up faster than hotspots come online near them.
The more miners, the more interesting Helium becomes for major carriers (like Dish). Once those players are on the Helium network, the price will rise keeping mining profitable.

I didn't understand because at first I thought he was saying that you can have a hotspot for 5G that is connect it buy helium. And he was saying dad you had to have a connection to starlink and then you can connect the people around you with your helium 5G connection. Is this a stand-alone or I don't understand if you have to connect to star link in the end anyway

200 feet is more like 40% of a block. Not 1 to 1.5 blocks.

"200' is = to a block and 1/2 or 2 blocks of a typical American neighborhood"? not even close.200' is maybe 4 homes in a higher density single-family neighborhood or 2 homes in a lower density single-family neighborhood.

I live in long island NY and for my area you are 100% right but also it’s very common like my house is 150 x 150 feet 200 feet is not enough at all I’d say for it to be viable min 1,000feet.

Helium is a solution in search of a problem. The network has near zero usage and will most likely remain that way for a long time. It’s pure hype and pure speculation.
Are you kidding? Have you not seen all the companies that have announced they are using the Helium network? The demand for IoT networks is huge and growing enormously, and the fact that Helium is significantly cheaper to use then existing Telecoms is a game changer
I think totalitarians, censorship, consolidation of wireless carriers, the merger of corporations and the state are very very very serious problems that this 'peoples' peer to peer network can actually solve. In fact ifs what I think it is this is the solution to most important problem on earth.
With the miner I'm using (syncrobit) will I be able to use it for the 5g network when it happens
It's possible if Syncrobit creates an upgrade kit for the current miners.
NOPE. its not even the same technology. are you able to get youtube videos on your ham radio? Wish people would stop asking this project do every little impossible thing that they want it to do and instead just buy the products that are being offered, like freedom fi, that are designed to do what you are asking. Fredomfi spots with the 5g are going to be quite expensive so they can afford to also include An IOT hotspot in the freedom fi 5g system. Syncrobit hasn't even been able to meet deadlines for the basic units they promised in April that i still have not gotten yet. In the process of canceling nebras and syncrobits.
You DON'T need 5g. Is your internet provider willing to provide that much bandwidth continuously ???

3m hotspots on back order divided by 1.75m coins minted each month after validation and founder deductions = 0.58 HNT per month earnings @ $24 HNT price = $14 per month. Don’t look good ROI
Try this equation... Current HNT per month 2.5M (30% to hotspots) = 833,333HNT / 200,000 hotspots = 4.16 x $24 = $100 (average) ROI 4-5 months. Coin10x = ROI 2weeks.
