    I bought a TM3 LR single motor (rear only) last august here in France. It has an WLTP of 620 km and cost me €39,000. Last month I got an average of 10km per 1kwh . The car was previously only available to business customers. It has increased in value since purchased, as it is no longer qualifies for the 5k € bonus. Best car purchases I ever made.

    Sounds like a great model, we tested the long range yesterday and apart from being faster not really much better than our 2022 rear wheel drive, but we also tested the performance and that was in another league not so much for the power but handling and smooth, the steering is so direct and the seats were amazing .

  • @6GZL1
    @6GZL1 23 дня назад +4

    This new model is an excellent option for the current incentive stipulations. I luckily snagged a standard range RWD right at the end of 2023 when it still qualified for the $7500 tax credit, so it was a good deal for a commuter. Speed isn’t stellar and you don’t get the better stereo, but the LFP battery is a workhorse. It’s great for my 50k miles per year needs. It’s nice to see that Tesla is still able to pivot so quickly to match the market conditions.

    • @miltonhare2461
      @miltonhare2461 10 дней назад

      We got a RWD 3 with LFP end of 2023 here in the US as well and love it, but this 370 mile range and 250kW charging would be nice for that price.
      For longer range driving which we are doing more than expected since supercharging is so smooth, that fast 0% to 60% charging gives you longer legs than with 272 miles range (which is down to 268 after 21,000 miles according to the range estimator).
      I really like LFP battery safety, and going to 100%, but 80% of 370 is 296 - that math looks good.
      If LFP really lasts for double the cycles I guess we chose right, and we needed the car, but this is the first time I see a model 3 configuration I would have probably bought instead of our 272 mile range LFP.
      I drive race cars - the 3 RWD LFP is plenty fast enough at 5.8 second 0-60, but a Plaid or M3P is obviously there if you don’t mind losing your license!

    Not a no brainer at all imo. I have a standard RWD with LFP battery. This battery is more important to me than an extra 100km or so of range. I charge at home daily and when on a road trip we always stop for a break every 2-3 hours, translating to roughly every 250-300km. In 30,000km since I have owned the car I have never travelled more than 300km between charges, and even that is extreme. This new long range model is not a no brainer unless you want the faster acceleration. Personally I would opt for the LFP if it is available in your country.

      I have an LFP and I love not having to baby it or worry about it. 100 degrees out today and all other EV batteries are degrading from the heat but not LFPs. I charge to 100% every night.

    • @aguyfromnothere
      @aguyfromnothere 23 дня назад +1

      The LFPs are fantastic because in practical terms you are not filling up to 80% so the daily range nearly the same. Sometimes I wish my model Y was the LFP so I didnt need to ever think about the battery.

    • @GaborBona
      @GaborBona 23 дня назад

      I agree with you 100%. This is what people don't get. My LFP equipped MY can be charged to 100% without worrying about degradation. Additionally, who on earth has the bladder capacity to drive 600kms without stopping? I sure don't. I "only" have 400kms official range on my MY but I could not be happier with it. Best car I ever owned.

    • @EPeltzer
      @EPeltzer 21 день назад

      I have a M3 SR LFP 2023. We regularly travel three different destinations in Calif. that are a little over 200 mi. with a mountain range in between. Just can't quite make it in one go and have to stop halfway to recharge. Luckily there is a massive supercharger so it works. But our id.4 makes those comfortably with no stop. Maybe it's just the bigger distances is here in the States but a true 300+ mile range would mean a lot of people don't ever have to stop in the middle of their journeys. This would cut the number of stops literally in half which is pretty significant in my book. This new model has basically a hundred miles more range and ends up being cheaper with tax credit so that, yeah that's a no-brainer. And yeah maybe you should only charge 80% on the NCM battery unless you're taking those long trips, but that 80% is probably at least the same range as the LFP model!

    Sitting in my 2024 M3 RWD LFP at a Supercharger while watching this video.
    I would have loved this new long range RWD option in that UK when I ordered my Model 3 in May. However, if I’m honest, I don’t need the extra range.
    My daily commute is only 20 miles, and I am on my first “long” trip since getting the car in June. 177 miles today to go to my son’s graduation ceremony tomorrow. Then back home on Tuesday.
    The UK isn’t a huge place, so the modest range of the LFP is fine for me.
    But, if I lived in the US, this new long range RWD would be my choice.
    Especially at the prices paid in the US after the federal tax incentive.

    I wonder if they've fudged the numbers there a bit with roll out to get that 4.9 seconds
    If I remember correctly, the long range 0 to 100 is 4.4, half a second considering the power Tesla has to get to ground in order to perform 4.9 with only two wheels - maybe they've made the tires even wider to compensate
    In terms of value, I think this easily takes over the Sr as as the best value EV

Give me manual windows, manual seats, no touchscreen, analog A/C controls and a price of 25,000. I personally can’t see how something like this couldn’t be possible. You could probably cut the battery in half and the weight savings of everything would get you close to that range. This is what people want. I’ve never had a new car, but I would buy that.

      I drove the 2000km / 1200 miles Blue Mountains to Melbourne return 3 times between Christmas and late February this year - it's not only cheaper in my EV than previous ICE car it's faster overall.
      I stop 2 times in each direction no matter what car I am in for late breakfast and early dinner, in the EV I just roll up to the charger, plug in and go inside to eat and use the bathroom, by the time I am done I have plenty of charge to continue. In the petrol car one of these stops was always a fill-up...fill the car, go inside to pay, back to the car, move it to a car park then go inside...by the time I had done this I was 1/2 way through my meal in the EV.
      The round trip costs $120 in supercharger fees, petrol was $250-280.
      The best thing is the other 32,000km / 20,000 miles have cost a total of $275 in electricity, saved 60 trips to a service station, at leat 7-8 hours of my life and a minimum of $4000.

    i have my 2023 model 3, with 263 mile range. yesterday in vegas, it was 117-120F.
    i drove 40 miles, and used 163 miles of range.
    I love my tesla, but this is not acceptable, and reasons why these cars are not selling great yet. thank goodness only in the summer we have massive power drains on these cars when its over 107F outside. when its over 100F out, ill see much less drain, but its still a range killer. the rest of the year its not uncommon to see 1 mile driven and 1 mile of range used, even at 28F at night. my inconvenience in terms of climate affecting EVs is fairly shorter term. but it is still annoying AF. but, the 9 months of the year its pretty much 1 for 1 miles driven and range used, for my purposes im still saving a ton of money. but for others, they really should know that EVs in extreme heat especially if its long term or all year round....are not really that great.
    at a SC.40c per kwh to charge about 37kwh is about $15. $15 to go 40 miles. the reason i bring up SC us because in my garage charging drastically slows down because its too hot inside, where without that heat issue i almost never need a SC for months.
    to compare, gas is $3.70 or so in vegas. that is about 4 gallons of gas for $15. a gas guzzler V8 would get you about 70 miles for that price, or if you bought a hybrid camry about 168 miles at 42 miles a gallon.
    theres still reasons why a gas car just makes more sense, or a hybrid. EVs cannot handle extreme temps. hot, or cold. this being the reason why 2/3 of the country do not want EV mandates, they cannot compete in many real world situations.

    Even if the charger supports 250 kW, you likely won't get this rate. How many other people are charging at the same station? Most stations can't support many vehicles all charging at 250 kW even if each individual charger supports this rate. Maybe one vehicle can charge at this rate if no one else is charging. Also, the Model 3 only charges at 250 kW between ten and fifteen percent. The rate drops precipitously after fifteen percent. By fifty percent, it's below 100 kW.
    Adding 175 miles in fifteen minutes is still much faster than my Bolt, but I've never had a problem with the lower rate. I only fast charge on long road trips, like over a hundred miles, and I only take a few of these trips, maybe half a dozen, in a year. So what if I spend half an hour charging, each way, on a 300 mile (each way) road trip? That's not a huge inconvenience for me, and it's the only price I pay to save ten grand or more on the price of the vehicle. If I own a Model 3, I pay for the larger battery with a faster charging rate all of the time, but I rarely use these features. If you can easily afford to do that, more power to you, but most people are more cost conscious.

    CATL, with a 37.5 per cent share of the global market for EV batteries, was a pioneer spearheading Chinese EV supply-chain vendors to internationalise their businesses. It supplies batteries to global brands including Tesla, BMW, Ford Motors and Volkswagen.
    Chinese companies led by CATL already make up six of the world's top 10 EV battery producers, with a combined 64 per cent of the global market in the first five months of this year.
    That dominance of the global market has set off alarm bells in the US, which has ceded the lead in EV roll-outs and infrastructure to China. The White House announced in May it would quadruple tariffs on China-made EVs, which now stand at 100 per cent of their list prices. Last Thursday, additional duties of 17.4 to 37.6 per cent came into effect provisionally in the EU.

      @ronfarnsworth7074 is correct on his statement. I believe the weight bias has a lot to do with how this car handles in the snow. Also, the computer on this car has better control over the drive-train than any other I've ever driven. It's hard to explain until you try to break the car loose in the snow. Doing doughnuts in the snow is next to impossible below 25 MPH, unless you activate "Slip Start". Additionally, I freaked my wife out by repeatedly stabbing the accelerator to the floor while going down a residential street after 3-4" of snowfall, (doing 25 MPH). When you do this, there's an almost imperceptible twitch you can feel for a split second the first time you smash the accelerator. But it's far less than any ICE car I've ever driven. There was no wheel spin, no drama... nothing. Of course, if you do that on a dry street, this car will launch forward, and press you into the seat until you let off the pedal. So, the computer really reigns in the driver-train when conditions are slippery. Hope that helps anyone considering the RWD version in mixed climates.

      Addendum. There are supposed to be a couple more cars coming out based on the 3 and Y as well.

      @@aguyfromnothere Then you might be disappointed. It MAY be optimized as an automated people mover. A “cyber van” so to speak. This is speculation though! I could be very wrong about this.

    Hyperinflation in the USA is leading to price collapses everywhere now #weimar_coal_price as the US logisitcs system despite being the best in Human History still isn't nearly good enough to handle this disaster. Deals on Teslas continue to be had big time and all vehicles currently actually. The good indeed great news for Tesla is that they have gone big with Cybertruck and Tesla Semi. The economics works far better for BEV when you go literally big/massive as don't need as much production to have a material impact on the market and suppliers are much more secure knowing that there isn't so much #cutthroat competition in Big which can be seen in the China versus the World small formfactor BEV for a few grand US Dollars now.

    I think they should offer the buyer a choice of rear OR front motor ! Are not the handling characteristics of a FWD vehicle better than a RWD config ? Or does the 'skateboard' layout make this a moot point ?

    Tesla finally fixed the biggest dumbest hole in their lineup. It has been silly for the last couple years in the US. The model 3 normal trims did not qualify for the $7,500 tax credit. The batteries did not qualify because they were made in China. So Tesla's cheapest models did not qualify, making them quite a bit more expensive than the competition and more expensive than Tesla's own model Y. I test drive the early 2024 m3, almost certainly would have bought one of these LR if I were in the market now, instead we ended up getting a used 2023 M3 rwd a few months ago. It's a great car but realistically the range is only about 200 ish miles on the freeway. Nice improvements to the 2024 + much higher range, to me is just about the perfect small sedan.

      @@I-Do-NOT-Consent-303 A fast charger is not really necessary. The owners I know don't have one, they just let it charge while they sleep and wake up to a full battery. That is only a cost to the impatient and impractical. Also, if you want one, they cost less than $500.

    It's been 8 years since Tesla introduced the $35,000 car in the US and now that really is the price! Eight years is light speed for Tesla.

      Accounting for inflation a base tesla m3 sr should cost you 44k in today's dollar SMDH. 😀
      And the base sr at 38k is vastly superior to the announced m3 with 220 miles of range no heat pump acoustic glass etc from 2016! 🤚
      A 24 m3p for just over 40% of what a 2013 p100d cost without factoring in inflation and can smoke it! It's nuts what tesla has accomplished.
